Afghanische und nicht-afghanische Künstler:innen präsentieren in The Other Kabul. Remains of the Garden Werke mit poetischer Kraft, die sich den westlichen Klischees zu Afghanistan entziehen. Vielmehr widmet sich die Ausstellung der Sinnlichkeit und Schönheit, die sich symbolisch im Mikrokosmos des Gartens spiegelt, und beharrt darauf, dass ein anderes Leben möglich sein kann, möglich sein wird.
Viele der ausgestellten Werke wurden eigens für die Ausstellung in Thun geschaffen.
Vier der beteiligten afghanischen Künstler:innen lebten bis August 2021 noch in Kabul. Ihre Werke sind jedoch nicht auf Armut, Krieg und Unterdrückung beschränkt. Stattdessen legen sie den Funken der Schönheit in die Welt Kabuls. Selbst, wenn dieser - wie alles Schöne - flüchtig und zerbrechlich ist. Der Fragilität dieser Vorstellung schliessen sich weitere Künstler:innen an, die im Iran, in den Niederlanden, in der Schweiz oder in der Türkei leben und arbeiten. Auch ihre künstlerischen Arbeiten tragen dazu bei, der Schönheit Sorge zu tragen, ohne dabei die vielfältigen und ineinander verschränkten Krisen der Welt unter den Teppich zu kehren.
The Other Kabul ist eine Gastausstellung des Vereins Treibsand, kuratiert von Susann Wintsch in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kunstmuseum Thun.
Des artistes afghans et non afghans présentent dans The Other Kabul. Remains of the Garden, des œuvres d'une grande force poétique qui échappent aux clichés occidentaux sur l'Afghanistan. L'exposition se consacre plutôt à la sensualité et à la beauté qui se reflètent symboliquement dans le microcosme du jardin, et insiste sur le fait qu'une autre vie peut être, sera possible.
De nombreuses œuvres exposées ont été créées spécialement pour l'exposition de Thoune.
Quatre des artistes afghans participant à l'exposition vivaient encore à Kaboul jusqu'en août 2021. Leurs œuvres ne se limitent toutefois pas à la pauvreté, à la guerre et à l'oppression. Au lieu de cela, ils placent l'étincelle de la beauté dans le monde de Kaboul. Même si celle-ci - comme toute beauté - est fugace et fragile. D'autres artistes qui vivent et travaillent en Iran, aux Pays-Bas, en Suisse ou en Turquie se joignent à la fragilité de cette idée. Leurs travaux artistiques contribuent eux aussi à prendre soin de la beauté, sans pour autant balayer sous le tapis les crises multiples et imbriquées du monde.

Remains of the Garden, artisti afghani e non, presentano opere dalla forza poetica che sfidano i cliché occidentali sull'Afghanistan. La mostra è piuttosto dedicata alla sensualità e alla bellezza riflessa simbolicamente nel microcosmo del giardino, e insiste sul fatto che un'altra vita può essere possibile, sarà possibile.
Molte delle opere esposte sono state create appositamente per la mostra di Thun.
Quattro degli artisti afghani coinvolti vivevano ancora a Kabul fino all'agosto 2021. Le loro opere, tuttavia, non si limitano alla povertà, alla guerra e all'oppressione. Invece, hanno messo la scintilla della bellezza nel mondo di Kabul. Anche se questa, come tutta la bellezza, è fugace e fragile. La fragilità di questa idea è ripresa da altri artisti che vivono e lavorano in Iran, Paesi Bassi, Svizzera e Turchia. Afghan and non-Afghan artists present in The Other Kabul. Remains of the Garden, Afghan and non-Afghan artists present works with poetic power that defy Western clichés about Afghanistan. Rather, the exhibition is dedicated to the sensuality and beauty symbolically reflected in the microcosm of the garden, insisting that another life can be, will be, possible.
Many of the works on display were created specifically for the exhibition in Thun.
Four of the Afghan artists involved were still living in Kabul until August 2021. Their works, however, are not limited to poverty, war and oppression. Instead, they put the spark of beauty into the world of Kabul. Even if this - like all beauty - is fleeting and fragile. The fragility of this idea is echoed by other artists who live and work in Iran, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Turkey. Their artistic works also contribute to a concern for beauty without sweeping the world's multiple and intertwined crises under the carpet.
