In Wolfgang Tillmans künstlerischer Arbeit kommt der Beobachtung von Menschen, deren Beziehungen zueinander und deren Verhältnis zu den Dingen, die sie umgeben, zentrale Bedeutung zu. Diese subjektiven Beziehungen und Modi der Wahrnehmung von Körpern, Bildern, Materialien oder Oberflächen ändern sich angesichts der aktuellen Gesundheitskrise, der Forderung nach Social Distancing sowie der Verlagerung unseres Alltags und Miteinanders in den virtuellen Raum massiv.
Die Entwicklungen der letzten Monate beschleunigen die bereits seit geraumer Zeit zu beobachtende Mediatisierung unseres Alltags. Wir erleben räumliche Umstrukturierungen und mediale Veränderungen, die nicht zuletzt auch den Status der Fotografie und deren Verhältnis zu Materialität und Visualität betreffen.
Dans le travail artistique de Wolfgang Tillmans, l'observation des personnes, de leurs relations entre elles et de leur rapport aux choses qui les entourent revêt une importance centrale. Ces relations subjectives et ces modes de perception des corps, des images, des matériaux ou des surfaces sont en train de changer massivement au vu de la crise actuelle de la santé, de l'exigence de social distancing ainsi que du déplacement de notre quotidien et de nos interactions dans l'espace virtuel.
Les évolutions de ces derniers mois accélèrent la médiatisation de notre quotidien que l'on observe déjà depuis un certain temps. Nous assistons à des restructurations spatiales et à des changements médiatiques qui concernent notamment le statut de la photographie et son rapport à la matérialité et à la visualité.
Nel lavoro artistico di Wolfgang Tillman, l'osservazione delle persone, le loro relazioni reciproche e il loro rapporto con le cose che le circondano sono di importanza centrale. Queste relazioni soggettive e modalità di percezione dei corpi, delle immagini, dei materiali o delle superfici stanno cambiando in modo massiccio in vista dell'attuale crisi sanitaria, della richiesta di distanziamento sociale e dello spostamento della nostra vita quotidiana e di convivenza nello spazio virtuale.
Gli sviluppi degli ultimi mesi accelerano la mediatizzazione della nostra vita quotidiana che si osserva già da qualche tempo. Stiamo vivendo una ristrutturazione spaziale e cambiamenti mediali che non da ultimo influenzano lo status della fotografia e la sua relazione con la materialità e la visualità.
Wolfgang Tillmans’s artistic practice attributes central importance to the observation of people, their relationship to one another, and their connection to the things around them. These subjective relations and modes of perceiving bodies, images, materials, or surfaces are undergoing massive shifts in light of the current health crisis, calls for social distancing, and the relocation of our everyday life and interaction into virtual space.
Recent developments have exacerbated the mediatization of our everyday lives, which we have been witnessing for some time. We are experiencing a spatial restructuring and changes in the media landscape that also affect the status of photography and its relationship to materiality and visuality.
