Der Auftakt der Ausstellung ist der aus 20 Fotografien bestehende Werkzyklus «Um die Sonne». Es sind Beobachtungen astrophisikalischer Phänomene in der südlichen, äquatorialen und nördlichen Hemisphäre. Kleine Formate wo der Ort als fixer Punkt in Koordinaten bestimmt ist und die Sonne je nach Hemisphäre ihren Lauf nimmt, immer und ewig.
Der direkte Einfluss der Sonne auf die Erde zeigt sich in der Erosion, der Wetterentwicklung, dem Klima, der Nordlichter, der Schneeschmelze in geradezu ursächlicher photographischer ‚Naturbelichtungen’, die in einer kleinen Auswahl von Heliogravüre aus der Mappe «Von der Erde» und im grossen Bergpanorama «Ohne Titel» im Fokus stehen.
Diese Arbeiten verknüpfen sich mit dem zweiten Teil der Ausstellung, einer Auswahl aus dem Werkzyklus «Als ob die Welt zu vermessen wäre». Hier sind es grossformatige Werke die in der Üppigkeit des tropischen Regenwaldes im Amazonasbecken entstanden sind. Die flirrende Dichte und Vielfalt der Vegetation verwandelt Baselgia in Kompositionen grösster Ruhe und Konzentration. Seine Studien übersetzte er in die Bildsprache einer langsamen, analogen Fotografie. So entstanden schwarzweisse Tableaus an der Grenze zur Abstraktion, ausgeführt als grossformatige Silbergelatineabzüge, die er alle in seinem eigenen Labor in Malans fertigstellt.
Die von der Fotostiftung Schweiz in Winterthur anlässlich der gleichnamigen Ausstellung 2019 herausgegebene Publikation – die in der Edizioni Periferia erschienen ist – zeigt ausserdem stille Portraits der Indigenen Bewohner dieser bedrohten Lebenswelt, dessen wirtschaftlich Ausbeutung sich längst auf das globale Klima auswirkt.
Le cycle d'œuvres "Autour du soleil", composé de 20 photographies, constitue le point de départ de l'exposition. Il s'agit d'observations de phénomènes astrophysiques dans l'hémisphère sud, équatorial et nord. Des petits formats où le lieu est déterminé comme un point fixe en coordonnées et où le soleil suit sa course selon l'hémisphère, toujours et éternellement.
L'influence directe du soleil sur la terre se manifeste dans l'érosion, l'évolution du temps, le climat, les aurores boréales, la fonte des neiges, dans des 'expositions naturelles' photographiques quasiment causales, qui sont au centre d'une petite sélection d'héliogravures du portfolio "De la terre" et du grand panorama de montagne "Sans titre".
Ces travaux sont liés à la deuxième partie de l'exposition, une sélection du cycle d'œuvres "Comme si le monde était à mesurer". Il s'agit ici d'œuvres de grand format réalisées dans la luxuriance de la forêt tropicale du bassin amazonien. La densité et la diversité scintillantes de la végétation sont transformées par Baselgia en compositions d'une grande sérénité et concentration. Il a traduit ses études dans le langage visuel d'une photographie lente et analogique. Il a ainsi créé des tableaux en noir et blanc à la limite de l'abstraction, réalisés sous forme de tirages grand format au gélatino-argentique, qu'il termine tous dans son propre laboratoire à Malans.
La publication éditée par la Fotostiftung Schweiz à Winterthur à l'occasion de l'exposition du même nom en 2019 - parue aux Edizioni Periferia - présente en outre des portraits silencieux des habitants indigènes de ce monde de vie menacé, dont l'exploitation économique a depuis longtemps des répercussions sur le climat mondial.
La mostra si apre con il ciclo di lavori "Around the Sun", composto da 20 fotografie. Sono osservazioni di fenomeni astrofisici negli emisferi meridionale, equatoriale e settentrionale. Piccoli formati in cui la posizione è determinata come un punto fisso in coordinate e il sole prende il suo corso a seconda dell'emisfero, sempre e per sempre.
L'influenza diretta del sole sulla terra è mostrata nell'erosione, lo sviluppo del tempo, il clima, l'aurora boreale, lo scioglimento della neve in "esposizioni naturali" fotografiche quasi causali, che sono il fulcro di una piccola selezione di eliografie dal portfolio "From the Earth" e il grande panorama di montagna "Untitled".
Queste opere si collegano alla seconda parte della mostra, una selezione del ciclo di opere "Come se il mondo fosse da misurare". Si tratta di opere di grande formato create nella rigogliosità della foresta pluviale tropicale del bacino amazzonico. Baselgia trasforma la densità e la diversità scintillante della vegetazione in composizioni della massima calma e concentrazione. Ha tradotto i suoi studi nel linguaggio visivo della fotografia lenta e analogica. Questo ha portato a tableaux in bianco e nero che rasentano l'astrazione, eseguiti come stampe alla gelatina d'argento di grande formato, tutte rifinite nel suo laboratorio a Malans.
La pubblicazione pubblicata dalla Fotostiftung Schweiz di Winterthur in occasione dell'omonima mostra del 2019 - edita da Edizioni Periferia - mostra anche ritratti silenziosi degli abitanti indigeni di questo mondo vivente minacciato, il cui sfruttamento economico ha da tempo un impatto sul clima globale.
The prelude to the exhibition is the cycle of works "Around the Sun" consisting of 20 photographs. They are observations of astrophysical phenomena in the southern, equatorial and northern hemispheres. Small formats where the place is determined as a fixed point in coordinates and the sun takes its course depending on the hemisphere, always and forever.
The direct influence of the sun on the earth is shown in the erosion, weather development, climate, northern lights, snowmelt in almost causal photographic 'nature exposures', which are the focus of a small selection of heliogravure from the portfolio "From the Earth" and the large mountain panorama "Untitled".
These works link up with the second part of the exhibition, a selection from the cycle of works "As if the world were to be measured". Here are large-format works created in the lushness of the tropical rainforest in the Amazon basin. Baselgia transforms the shimmering density and diversity of the vegetation into compositions of the greatest calm and concentration. He translated his studies into the visual language of slow, analog photography. This resulted in black-and-white tableaus bordering on abstraction, executed as large-format silver gelatin prints, all of which he completed in his own laboratory in Malans.
The publication issued by the Fotostiftung Schweiz in Winterthur on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name in 2019 - published by Edizioni Periferia - also shows silent portraits of the indigenous inhabitants of this threatened living world, whose economic exploitation has long since had an impact on the global climate.
