Die US-amerikanische Künstlerin Lorna Simpson (*1960) wurde in den 1980er Jahren durch ihre konzeptuelle Fotografie aus Texten und Bildern bekannt. In ihren Fotografien, Filmen, Gemälden und Collagen stellt sie Fragen zu Erinnerung, Identität, Ethnie, Geschichte, Gender und Fiktion. Die Ausstellung zeigt einen Querschnitt ihres multivalenten Werkes, darunter auch neuere Arbeiten wie die monumentalen Gemälde von Eis – ein Motiv, dass sich ebenso in ihren Skulpturen widerspiegelt und die Betrachtenden in die Dichotomien von Figuration und Abstraktion eintauchen lässt.
L'artiste américaine Lorna Simpson (*1960) s'est fait connaître dans les années 1980 par sa photographie conceptuelle composée de textes et d'images. Dans ses photographies, films, peintures et collages, elle pose des questions sur la mémoire, l'identité, l'ethnie, l'histoire, le genre et la fiction. L'exposition présente un échantillon de son œuvre multivalent, dont des travaux récents comme les peintures monumentales de glace - un motif qui se reflète également dans ses sculptures et qui plonge les spectateurs dans les dichotomies de la figuration et de l'abstraction.
L'artista statunitense Lorna Simpson (*1960) si è fatta conoscere negli anni '80 per la sua fotografia concettuale di testi e immagini. Nelle sue fotografie, nei suoi film, nei suoi dipinti e nei suoi collage, pone domande sulla memoria, l'identità, l'etnia, la storia, il genere e la finzione. La mostra presenta uno spaccato della sua poliedrica opera, compresi lavori recenti come i monumentali dipinti di ghiaccio - un motivo che si riflette anche nelle sue sculture e che immerge lo spettatore nelle dicotomie tra figurazione e astrazione.
The U.S. artist Lorna Simpson (*1960) became known in the 1980s for her conceptual photography of texts and images. In her photographs, films, paintings, and collages, she poses questions about memory, identity, ethnicity, history, gender, and fiction. The exhibition presents a cross-section of her multivalent oeuvre, including recent works such as the monumental paintings of ice - a motif that is also reflected in her sculptures, immersing viewers in the dichotomies of figuration and abstraction.
