Die Ausstellung Currency: Photography Beyond Capture (Währung - Photographie jenseits der Aufnahme) untersucht die künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit Photographie im "retinalen Zeitalter", in dem Bilder nicht nur Themen und Ereignisse dokumentieren, sondern das Sehen und Gesehen-werden grundlegend prägen. Die Ausstellung zeigt Photographie nicht als Dokument von Essenz oder verbindlicher Wahrheit, sondern als Rahmen und Kontext für erzählerische Erfindungen. Currency betrachtet wie Wissen gewonnen wird und wie dieses über die konzeptuellen Ansätze des Mediums Photographie neu gedacht werden kann.
Die Ausstellung verwebt Formen experimenteller Aufnahmen mit archivarischer und dokumentarischer Praxis und beschwört alle Sinne ansprechende Erscheinungen herauf. Sie inszeniert Arbeiten vielgestaltiger photographischer Praxen und strukturiert diese anhand wesentlicher Motive: der Gegenüberstellung und Dekonstruktion visueller Kanons, der Darstellung aus dem Inneren von Gemeinschaften und sozialen Beziehungen, einer Gegenkartierung des Anthropozäns anhand von durch militärische Besatzung oder extraktivem Kapitalismus geprägten Landschaften, der Zärtlichkeit und der Währung des Intimen jenseits konventioneller Porträts, sowie poetischer Erkundungen alchemistischer Prozesse der Photographie.

L'exposition Currency : Photography Beyond Capture (Monnaie - la photographie au-delà de la prise de vue) examine l'approche artistique de la photographie à l'"ère rétinienne", dans laquelle les images ne se contentent pas de documenter des thèmes et des événements, mais marquent fondamentalement la façon de voir et d'être vu. L'exposition montre la photographie non pas comme un document d'essence ou de vérité obligatoire, mais comme un cadre et un contexte pour des inventions narratives. Currency examine comment le savoir est acquis et comment il peut être repensé à travers les approches conceptuelles du médium photographique.
L'exposition mêle des formes de prises de vue expérimentales à des pratiques archivistiques et documentaires et évoque des apparitions qui attirent tous les sens. Elle met en scène des travaux issus de pratiques photographiques multiples et les structure autour de motifs essentiels : la confrontation et la déconstruction de canons visuels, la représentation de l'intérieur de communautés et de relations sociales, une contre-cartographie de l'anthropocène à travers des paysages marqués par l'occupation militaire ou le capitalisme extractif, la tendresse et la monnaie de l'intime au-delà des portraits conventionnels, ainsi que des explorations poétiques des processus alchimiques de la photographie.

La mostra Currency: Photography Beyond Capture esplora l'impegno artistico con la fotografia nell'"era della retina", in cui le immagini non solo documentano soggetti ed eventi, ma modellano fondamentalmente il modo in cui vediamo e siamo visti. La mostra presenta la fotografia non come documento di essenza o verità vincolante, ma come quadro e contesto per l'invenzione narrativa. Currency guarda a come la conoscenza viene acquisita e come può essere ripensata attraverso gli approcci concettuali del mezzo fotografico.
La mostra intreccia forme di fotografia sperimentale con la pratica archivistica e documentaria, evocando apparizioni che fanno appello a tutti i sensi. Mette in scena opere di pratiche fotografiche poliedriche e le struttura intorno a motivi essenziali: la giustapposizione e la decostruzione dei canoni visivi, la rappresentazione dall'interno delle comunità e delle relazioni sociali, una contro-mappatura dell'Antropocene attraverso paesaggi modellati dall'occupazione militare o dal capitalismo estrattivo, la tenerezza e la valuta dell'intimo oltre il ritratto convenzionale, e le esplorazioni poetiche dei processi alchemici della fotografia.

Currency: Photography Beyond Capture (Währung - Photographie jenseits der Aufnahme) explores artistic engagements with photography in the “retinal age,” where images not only act as records and imprints but fundamentally shape acts of seeing and being seen. The exhibition approaches photographs as contextual frames for narrative invention rather than as documents of binding truth or essence. Currency considers how knowledge is sought and reimagined through conceptual approaches to the photographic medium.
The exhibition weaves modes of experimental capture, appearance, multisensory evocation, and archival and documentative practice. In staging works by visual artists and photographers, several motifs will structure Currency: the deconstruction and juxtaposition of visual canons; portrayals of community and social relations from within; countermapping in the Anthropocene across landscapes of extractive capitalism and military occupation; tenderness and the currency of intimacy beyond the conventions of portraiture; and poetic explorations into the alchemical processes of photography.
