Slow Show, konzipiert und choreografiert von Dimitri Chamblas, ist eine intensive, kollektive Tanzperformance, deren sichtbare Auswirkungen minimal, präzise und konzentriert sind. Die erste Performance des Projekts wurde 2018 mit Tanzstudenten des California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) bei Hauser und Wirth und im MAK Center im Schindler House in Los Angeles aufgeführt und basiert auf den Prinzipien von Trance, Exaltation, Telepathie und unbewussten Erinnerungen und offenbart ihre Kraft und Lebendigkeit durch extrem verlangsamte, fast unmerkliche, fast unsichtbare Bewegungen. Das Unsichtbare ist weder Leere, noch ist es Ruhe oder Abwesenheit. Die Subtilität der Bewegungen mindert weder die Intensität noch die Erschöpfung, die aus einer ausgedehnten Zeitspanne anstelle einer möglichen frenetischen Trance entsteht.
Slow Show wurde an verschiedenen Orten weltweit aufgeführt; jede Wiederholung ist einzigartig und versammelt rund 50 Personen jeden Alters und Hintergrunds, die auf ihren unmittelbaren Kontext reagieren. Die 20-minütige Performance wird von Klang und Musik begleitet, die der Musiker, Künstler und DJ Eddie Ruscha komponiert hat.
Slow Show Installation versammelt eine Auswahl von 18 gefilmten Porträts, die die TeilnehmerInnen während der weltweiten Aufführungen zeigen, die in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Arles (Frankreich), Minneapolis (USA) und Charleroi (Belgien) stattgefunden haben. Chamblas hat in Zusammenarbeit mit Manuela Dalle diese bewegten Bilder aufgenommen, die nun erstmals innerhalb einer eigens dafür geschaffenen Raumarchitektur im Luma Westbau gezeigt werden. In blaues, gedämpftes Licht getaucht - das eine beruhigende Wirkung auf das Gehirn hat - und umgeben von Projektionen schwebender Körper, die sich zu einer ortsspezifischen Klangkulisse bewegen, lädt die Raumgestaltung ein, sich hinzulegen, zu entspannen und in eine gemeinsame Erfahrung einzutauchen.
Slow Show, conçu et chorégraphié par Dimitri Chamblas, est une performance de danse intense et collective dont les effets visibles sont minimes, précis et concentrés. La première performance du projet a été présentée en 2018 avec des étudiants en danse du California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) chez Hauser et Wirth et au MAK Center à la Schindler House de Los Angeles. Basée sur les principes de la transe, de l'exaltation, de la télépathie et des souvenirs inconscients, elle révèle sa force et sa vivacité par des mouvements extrêmement ralentis, presque imperceptibles, presque invisibles. L'invisible n'est ni le vide, ni le repos, ni l'absence. La subtilité des mouvements ne diminue ni l'intensité ni l'épuisement qui résulte d'un laps de temps étendu au lieu d'une éventuelle transe frénétique.
Slow Show a été présenté dans différents endroits du monde ; chaque répétition est unique et rassemble une cinquantaine de personnes de tous âges et de tous horizons, qui réagissent à leur contexte immédiat. La performance de 20 minutes est accompagnée de sons et de musiques composés par le musicien, artiste et DJ Eddie Ruscha.
Slow Show Installation rassemble une sélection de 18 portraits filmés montrant les participants lors des représentations mondiales qui ont eu lieu à Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Arles (France), Minneapolis (États-Unis) et Charleroi (Belgique). Chamblas a enregistré ces visuels en mouvement en collaboration avec Manuela Dalle, qui sont maintenant présentés pour la première fois au sein d'une architecture spatiale spécialement créée à cet effet dans le bâtiment ouest de Luma. Plongé dans une lumière bleue et tamisée - qui a un effet apaisant sur le cerveau - et entouré de projections de corps flottants qui se déplacent sur un fond sonore spécifique au lieu, l'aménagement de l'espace invite à s'allonger, à se détendre et à se plonger dans une expérience commune.

Eseguita nel 2018 con gli studenti di danza del California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) presso Hauser and Wirth e presso il MAK Center at Schindler House di Los Angeles, la prima performance del progetto si basa sui principi della trance, dell'esaltazione, della telepatia e dei ricordi inconsci, rivelando la sua potenza e la sua vibrazione attraverso movimenti estremamente rallentati, quasi impercettibili, quasi invisibili. L'invisibile non è il vuoto, né l'immobilità o l'assenza. La sottigliezza dei movimenti non diminuisce l'intensità o la stanchezza che deriva da un periodo di tempo prolungato al posto di una possibile trance frenetica.
Slow Show è stato eseguito in varie località del mondo; ogni iterazione è unica e riunisce circa 50 persone di ogni età e provenienza che rispondono al contesto immediato. La performance, della durata di 20 minuti, è accompagnata da suoni e musica composti dal musicista, artista e DJ Eddie Ruscha.
Slow Show Installation raccoglie una selezione di 18 ritratti filmati dei partecipanti durante le performance tenutesi in tutto il mondo a Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Arles (Francia), Minneapolis (USA) e Charleroi (Belgio). Chamblas, in collaborazione con Manuela Dalle, ha registrato queste immagini in movimento, che ora vengono mostrate per la prima volta all'interno di un'architettura spaziale appositamente creata nel Luma West Building. Immerso in una luce blu e soffusa - che ha un effetto calmante sul cervello - e circondato da proiezioni di corpi fluttuanti che si muovono su un paesaggio sonoro specifico, il progetto spaziale invita le persone a sdraiarsi, rilassarsi e immergersi in un'esperienza condivisa.
Conceived and choreographed by Dimitri Chamblas, Slow Show is an intensive, collective dance performance whose visible repercussions are minimal, precise, and concentrated. Presented for the first time in 2018 with dance students from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) at Hauser and Wirth Los Angeles and at the MAK Center at the Schindler House, the performance is rooted in the principles of trance, exultation, telepathy, and unconscious memories, revealing its strength and vivacity through movements slowed to the extreme, almost imperceptible, almost invisible. The invisible is not emptiness, nor is it calmness or absence. The subtlety of the movements doesn’t take away the intensity nor the exhaustion growing from a stretched time instead of a possible frenetic trance.
Slow Show has been performed in different locations around the world; each repetition is unique, gathering around 50 local people from all ages and backgrounds and answering to their immediate context. The 20-minute performance is accompanied by sound and music composed by musician, artist, and DJ Eddie Ruscha.
Slow Show Installation brings together a selection of 18 filmed portraits depicting participants over the course of worldwide performances that took place in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Arles (France), Minneapolis (USA) and Charleroi (Belgium). Chamblas, in collaboration with Manuela Dalle, captured these moving images that are now shown for the first time in a specially devised environment at Luma Westbau. Submerged in a blue, low light - which has a calming effect on the brain - and surrounded by projections of floating bodies that move to a site-specific soundscape, the reclining structure in the space invites the audience to lay down, slow down and immerse themselves in a shared experience.
