Unsere Vorstellung von Cowboys, ihrem Aussehen, Charakter und Verhalten, ist stark geprägt von filmischen und fotografischen Bildern. Eine der eindrücklichsten Inszenierungen von Cowboys ist die legendäre Marlboro-Werbekampagne. Fotografiert wurden die unverwechselbaren Bilder vom Schweizer Fotografen Hannes Schmid, der gekonnt den Mythos des freiheitsliebenden, abenteuerlustigen und attraktiven Cowboys mit seiner Kamera einfing und einer bereits etablierten Ikone neue Facetten verlieh.
Als weiteres Highlight präsentiert Schmid einen Teil seiner in Kambodscha fotografierten Reportage «Concerned Photography». Schmid dokumentiert das Leben und die Lebensumstände von Kambodschaner:innen, wodurch er der Armut und Korruption in einem von politischer Instabilität und andauernden Sicherheitsrisiken beeinträchtigen Land ein Gesicht verleiht. Ein Resultat von Schmids Arbeit in Kambodscha war 2012 die Gründung des gemeinnützigen Vereins «Smiling Gecko», der sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, nachhaltige Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe in Kambodscha zu leisten. Sämtliche Fotografien der Serie «Concerned Photography» sind durch eine Spende an «Smiling Gecko» käuflich erwerblich.
Notre représentation des cow-boys, de leur apparence, de leur caractère et de leur comportement, est fortement influencée par les images cinématographiques et photographiques. L'une des mises en scène les plus impressionnantes des cow-boys est la légendaire campagne publicitaire de Marlboro. Les images incomparables ont été photographiées par le photographe suisse Hannes Schmid, qui a habilement capturé avec son appareil le mythe du cow-boy épris de liberté, d'aventure et de séduction, et a donné de nouvelles facettes à une icône déjà bien établie.
Autre temps fort, Schmid présente une partie de son reportage "Concerned Photography", photographié au Cambodge. Schmid documente la vie et les conditions de vie des Cambodgiens, donnant ainsi un visage à la pauvreté et à la corruption dans un pays en proie à l'instabilité politique et à des risques sécuritaires permanents. L'un des résultats du travail de Schmid au Cambodge a été la création en 2012 de l'association à but non lucratif "Smiling Gecko", qui s'est fixé pour objectif d'apporter une aide durable à l'auto-assistance au Cambodge. Toutes les photographies de la série "Concerned Photography" peuvent être achetées en faisant un don à "Smiling Gecko".
L'idea che abbiamo dei cowboy, del loro aspetto, del loro carattere e del loro comportamento, è fortemente influenzata dalle immagini cinematografiche e fotografiche. Una delle più impressionanti messe in scena di cowboy è la leggendaria campagna pubblicitaria della Marlboro. Le inconfondibili immagini sono state scattate dal fotografo svizzero Hannes Schmid, che ha sapientemente catturato con la sua macchina fotografica il mito del cowboy amante della libertà, avventuroso e attraente, dando nuove sfaccettature a un'icona già affermata.
Come ulteriore highlight, Schmid presenta una parte del suo reportage "Concerned Photography" fotografato in Cambogia. Schmid documenta la vita e le condizioni di vita dei cambogiani, dando un volto alla povertà e alla corruzione in un Paese segnato dall'instabilità politica e dai persistenti rischi per la sicurezza. Uno dei risultati del lavoro di Schmid in Cambogia è stata la fondazione dell'associazione no-profit "Smiling Gecko" nel 2012, che mira a fornire un aiuto sostenibile per l'auto-aiuto in Cambogia. Tutte le fotografie della serie "Concerned Photography" possono essere acquistate facendo una donazione a "Smiling Gecko".
Our idea of cowboys, their appearance, character and behavior, is strongly influenced by cinematic and photographic images. One of the most impressive stagings of cowboys is the legendary Marlboro advertising campaign. The distinctive images were photographed by Swiss photographer Hannes Schmid, who skillfully captured the myth of the freedom-loving, adventurous and handsome cowboy with his camera, adding new facets to an already established icon.
As a further highlight, Schmid presents part of his reportage "Concerned Photography" photographed in Cambodia. Schmid documents the lives and living conditions of Cambodians, putting a face on poverty and corruption in a country marred by political instability and persistent security risks. One result of Schmid's work in Cambodia was the founding in 2012 of the non-profit association "Smiling Gecko," which aims to provide sustainable help for self-help in Cambodia. All photographs in the series "Concerned Photography" are available for purchase by making a donation to "Smiling Gecko".
