Momentum of Light and London—Being in the Library

Fotografie – Architektur – Kunst. Dieser Trias nimmt sich das Kunstmuseum Olten mit seinen beiden Herbstausstellungen an. Parallel zeigen wir Arbeiten des international bekannten niederländischen Architektur-Fotografen Iwan Baan (*1975) und der Schweizer Künstlerin und Meret Oppenheim Preisträgerin Daniela Keiser (*1963), die ihre je eigene, unverwechselbare Bildsprache aus der intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit Architektur und den Möglichkeiten des Mediums Fotografie entwickelt haben.
Iwan Baan stellt in seiner ersten institutionellen Einzelausstellung in der Schweiz sein neuestes Projekt «Momentum of Light» vor. Er präsentiert Fotografien einer Reise nach Burkina Faso, die er im letzten März gemeinsam mit dem Architekten Francis Kéré unternommen hat, um den Charakter der traditionellen Bauten im Land zu ergründen und die Lebensweisen der dort Wohnenden bildnerisch einzufangen. Dabei stehen die Menschen stets im Zentrum von Baans Fotografien, ihr Verhältnis zum Raum und zur Architektur, ihre Möglichkeiten, Räume zu nutzen, darin zu interagieren und sie zu gestalten.
Daniela Keiser setzt sich in ihrer Ausstellung «London—Being in the Library» einmal mehr mit der Auffächerung des Lichts in Farben auseinander und präsentiert ihre neueste Arbeit, die sich aus Aufnahmen aus dem Londoner «Idea Store», einem Bibliotheksbau des ghanesisch-britischen Architekten David Adjaye, grossflächig zusammensetzt und im Kunstmuseum räumlich fassbar wird.
Photographie - Architecture - Art. Le Kunstmuseum Olten aborde cette triade avec ses deux expositions d'automne. En parallèle, nous présentons des œuvres du photographe d'architecture néerlandais de renommée internationale Iwan Baan (*1975) et de l'artiste suisse Daniela Keiser (*1963), lauréate du prix Meret Oppenheim, qui ont chacun développé leur propre langage visuel à partir de leur engagement intensif avec l'architecture et les possibilités du médium de la photographie.
Dans sa première exposition solo institutionnelle en Suisse, Iwan Baan présente son dernier projet "Momentum of Light". Il présente des photographies d'un voyage au Burkina Faso qu'il a entrepris en mars dernier avec l'architecte Francis Kéré afin d'explorer le caractère des bâtiments traditionnels du pays et de saisir le mode de vie des personnes qui y vivent. Les personnes sont toujours au centre des photographies de Baan, leur relation avec l'espace et l'architecture, leurs possibilités d'utiliser les espaces, d'y interagir et de les façonner.
Dans son exposition "London-Being in the Library", Daniela Keiser traite une fois de plus de l'étalement de la lumière en couleurs et présente sa dernière œuvre, composée de photographies à grande échelle du "Idea Store" de Londres, un bâtiment de bibliothèque de l'architecte ghanéen-britannique David Adjaye, qui devient spatialement tangible au Kunstmuseum.

In parallelo, mostriamo le opere del fotografo d'architettura olandese di fama internazionale Iwan Baan (*1975) e dell'artista svizzera e vincitrice del premio Meret Oppenheim Daniela Keiser (*1963), che hanno sviluppato ciascuno il proprio linguaggio visivo distintivo dal loro intenso impegno con l'architettura e le possibilità del mezzo fotografico.
Nella sua prima mostra personale istituzionale in Svizzera, Iwan Baan presenta il suo ultimo progetto "Momentum of Light". Presenta le fotografie di un viaggio in Burkina Faso che ha intrapreso lo scorso marzo insieme all'architetto Francis Kéré per esplorare il carattere degli edifici tradizionali del paese e per catturare gli stili di vita della gente che ci vive. Le persone sono sempre al centro delle fotografie di Baan, il loro rapporto con lo spazio e l'architettura, le loro possibilità di usare gli spazi, interagire in essi e plasmarli.
Nella sua mostra "London-Being in the Library", Daniela Keiser si occupa ancora una volta della sventagliata di luce nei colori e presenta il suo ultimo lavoro, che è composto da fotografie su larga scala dell'"Idea Store" di Londra, un edificio biblioteca dell'architetto ghanese-britannico David Adjaye, e diventa spazialmente tangibile nel Kunstmuseum.
Photography – Architecture – Art: The Kunstmuseum Olten will focus on this triad with its two autumn exhibitions. We will be simultaneously showing works by the Dutch photographer Iwan Baan (*1975) and the Swiss artist Daniela Keiser (*1963), who have each developed their own unmistakable artistic language from an intensive engagement with architecture and the possibilities of the medium of photography.
Iwan Baan will present his latest project Momentum of Light in his first institutional solo exhibition in Switzerland. Under this title, the photographer will show pictures from a trip to Burkina Faso which he took last March along with the internationally renowned Burkinabe architect Francis Kéré. The photographs are the result of the visual exploration of the character of the West African nation’s traditional buildings and are shots of how the locals live their lives. In all of his doing, Iwan Baan is interested in people, their relationship to space and architecture, and their possibilities of using spaces, interacting in them, and shaping them.
In her exhibition «London. Being in the Library» Daniela Keiser deals once more with the dispersion of light into colours. The Swiss Artist and Meret Oppenheim Prize Winner presents her latest work, which is based on photos from the London «Idea Store», a library building by the Ghanaian-British architect David Adjaye.
