Mitte der 1970er-Jahre gab sich eine junge Künstlerin den programmatischen Namen «Manon». Mit ihren Auftritten als Femme fatale, provokanten Performances und Installationen mischte sie die Zürcher Kunstszene auf, stellte Männer in einem Schaufenster aus oder präsentierte ihr von laszivem Dekor überbordendes Schlafzimmer als Lachsfarbenes Boudoir in einer Galerie. Manon ist Drehbuchschreiberin, Bühnenbildnerin, Regisseurin und Schauspielerin, aber auch Fotografin. Mit dem Werkzeug der Kamera arbeitet sie bis heute an Selbstporträts und Stillleben. Sie konstruiert ihre Bilder mit kompositorischem Feingefühl, spielt mit subtilen Verweisen auf die Kunstgeschichte und die Popkultur und bringt gleichzeitig existenzielle Wünsche und Ängste zum Ausdruck. Manons fotografisches OEuvre ist ein Reigen der Schönheit und der Vergänglichkeit, angeführt von La dame au crâne rasé , der legendären Serie aus den Jahren 1977/78. Die Heldin dieses traumhaften Fotoromans, die mit ihrem kahlgeschorenen Schädel androgyn und sexy, verletzlich und dennoch unantastbar cool ist, taucht nicht zuletzt im späteren Langzeitprojekt Hotel Dolores wieder auf.
Die Fotostiftung Schweiz zeigt Manon-Klassiker neben weniger bekannten Arbeiten, vereint die frühen Serien und die fotografischen Tableaus der vergangenen Jahre. Sie würdigt mit dieser Ausstellung, die anlässlich des achtzigsten Geburtstags der Künstlerin bereits für 2020 geplant war und dann coronabedingt verschoben werden musste, ein international wegweisendes Werk.
Au milieu des années 1970, une jeune artiste s'est donné le nom programmatique de "Manon". Avec ses apparitions en femme fatale, ses performances provocantes et ses installations, elle a bouleversé la scène artistique zurichoise, exposant des hommes dans une vitrine ou présentant sa chambre à coucher débordant de décorations lascives comme un boudoir saumon dans une galerie. Manon est scénariste, décoratrice de théâtre, metteur en scène et actrice, mais aussi photographe. Avec l'outil de la caméra, elle travaille encore aujourd'hui sur des autoportraits et des natures mortes. Elle construit ses images avec une grande finesse de composition, joue avec des références subtiles à l'histoire de l'art et à la culture pop, tout en exprimant des désirs et des angoisses existentiels. L'œuvre photographique de Manon est une ronde de la beauté et de l'éphémère, avec en tête La dame au crâne rasé , la série légendaire des années 1977/78. L'héroïne de ce roman-photo onirique, androgyne et sexy avec son crâne rasé, vulnérable et pourtant intouchable et cool, réapparaît notamment dans le projet à long terme Hotel Dolores qui suivra.
La Fotostiftung Schweiz présente des classiques de Manon aux côtés de travaux moins connus, réunit les premières séries et les tableaux photographiques des années passées. Avec cette exposition, qui était déjà prévue pour 2020 à l'occasion du quatre-vingtième anniversaire de l'artiste et qui a dû être reportée pour cause de coronarographie, elle rend hommage à une œuvre pionnière au niveau international.

Manon è sceneggiatrice, scenografa, regista e attrice, ma anche fotografa. Utilizzando lo strumento della macchina fotografica, lavora ancora su autoritratti e nature morte. Costruisce le sue immagini con sensibilità compositiva, gioca con sottili riferimenti alla storia dell'arte e alla cultura pop, e allo stesso tempo esprime desideri e paure esistenziali. L'opera fotografica di Manon è una danza circolare di bellezza e transitorietà, guidata da La dame au crâne rasé , la leggendaria serie del 1977/78. L'eroina di questo romanzo fotografico onirico, androgina e sexy con il suo cranio rasato, vulnerabile eppure intoccabilmente cool, riappare anche nel successivo progetto a lungo termine Hotel Dolores.
La Fotostiftung Schweiz espone i classici di Manon accanto a opere meno conosciute, riunendo le prime serie e i tableau fotografici degli ultimi anni. Con questa mostra, che era già prevista per il 2020 in occasione dell'ottantesimo compleanno dell'artista e che poi ha dovuto essere rinviata a causa della corona, si rende omaggio a un'opera rivoluzionaria a livello internazionale.
In the mid-1970s, a young artist gave herself the programmatic name "Manon". With her appearances as a femme fatale, provocative performances and installations, she stirred up the Zurich art scene, exhibiting men in a shop window or presenting her bedroom, overflowing with lascivious decor, as a salmon-colored boudoir in a gallery. Manon is a scriptwriter, set designer, director and actress, but also a photographer. Using the tool of the camera, she continues to work on self-portraits and still lifes to this day. She constructs her images with compositional sensitivity, playing with subtle references to art history and pop culture while expressing existential desires and fears. Manon's photographic oeuvre is a round dance of beauty and transience, led by La dame au crâne rasé , the legendary series from 1977/78. The heroine of this dreamlike photo novel, who with her shaved skull is androgynous and sexy, vulnerable and yet untouchably cool, reappears not least in the later long-term project Hotel Dolores.
The Fotostiftung Schweiz is showing Manon classics alongside lesser-known works, bringing together the early series and the photographic tableaus of recent years. With this exhibition, which was already planned for 2020 on the occasion of the artist's eightieth birthday and then had to be postponed due to corona, it pays tribute to an internationally groundbreaking work.
