Die Galerie le Salon H engagiert sich für die brasilianische Kunstszene und möchte Rodrigo Braga für die nächste Ausgabe von PhotoSaintGermain eine Carte blanche geben. Der 1976 in der Großstadt Manaus mitten im Amazonasdschungel geborene Künstler hat in seinem Land, wo er von den größten brasilianischen Museen ausgestellt und gesammelt wird, breite Anerkennung gefunden. Nach der von Jair Bolsonaro verkörperten populistischen Wende und ihren katastrophalen Folgen für das Amazonasgebiet zog er es vor, nach Frankreich ins Exil zu gehen.
Denn es ist die Frage nach dem Kampf zwischen der menschlichen Spezies und ihrer natürlichen Umgebung, die sich wie ein roter Faden durch die Arbeit des Künstlers zieht. Was zeichnet uns als biologisches Wesen aus? Welche Beziehungen unterhalten wir mit der Tier-, Pflanzen- und Mineralwelt? Wie weit können uns unsere räuberischen Triebe treiben? Braga beantwortet diese Fragen, indem er zahlreiche plastische Ressourcen mobilisiert, sich körperlich in sein Werk einbringt und die Natur zu seiner Experimentierwerkstatt macht. Braga ist Biologe, Naturforscher, Geologe, Archäologe, Anthropologe und Schamane. Er schöpft aus seiner Herkunft, seiner persönlichen Geschichte und dem kollektiven Unbewussten die Symbole und Archetypen, die der Dokumentation seiner Handlungen eine starke Wirkung verleihen. Anhand ausgewählter Fotografien, in denen das Gesicht des Künstlers durch die Einfügung von Tierorganen eine Metamorphose erfährt, in denen die Mimikry zwischen Pflanzen- und Tierwelt ein beunruhigendes Echo zukünftiger Störungen darstellt und in denen der Schamane ein Wiedergeburtsritual in einer mineralischen Umgebung einzuleiten scheint, soll die Ausstellung den einzigartigen Werdegang dieses wichtigen Künstlers aufzeigen.
Der Salon H, der als Salon des 21. Jahrhunderts konzipiert ist, entstand aus dem Wunsch heraus, Herzensangelegenheiten und Ideen in den Bereichen der bildenden Kunst, der zeitgenössischen Kreation und des Denkens zu teilen.
Durch die Mobilisierung der Vielfalt der Ausdrucksformen will der Salon H Neues entdecken und überraschen. Seit 2021 hat sich die Galerie der Förderung der brasilianischen Kunstszene verschrieben.
Engagée auprès de la scène artistique brésilienne, la galerie le Salon H a souhaité donner carte blanche à Rodrigo Braga pour la prochaine édition de PhotoSaintGermain. Né en 1976 dans la grande ville de Manaus, perdue en pleine jungle d’Amazonie, l’artiste, après avoir acquis une large reconnaissance dans son pays – où il est exposé et collectionné par les plus grands musées brésiliens, a préféré s’exiler en France suite au tournant populiste incarné par Jair Bolsonaro, et ses conséquences désastreuses sur l’Amazonie.
Car c’est bien la question de la lutte entre l’espèce humaine et son environnement naturel qui constitue le fil rouge du travail de l’artiste. Qu’est ce qui nous distingue en tant qu’être biologique ? Quelles relations entretenons‑nous avec le monde animal, végétal, minéral ? Jusqu’où nos pulsions prédatrices peuvent‑elles nous conduire ? Autant de questions auxquelles Braga répond en mobilisant de multiples ressources plastiques, et s’engageant physiquement dans son œuvre, tout en faisant de la nature son atelier d’expérimentation. Tour à tour biologiste, naturaliste, géologue, archéologue, anthropologue, chaman, Braga sait puiser dans ses origines, son histoire personnelle, et l’inconscient collectif, les symboles et archétypes qui vont conférer à la documentation de ses actions un impact puissant. A travers la sélection de photographies où le visage de l’artiste se métamorphose en incorporant des organes d’animaux, où le mimétisme entre monde végétal et animal se fait l’écho troublant des dérèglements à venir, et où l’artiste chaman semble initier un rituel de renaissance dans un environnement devenu minéral, l’exposition devra permettre de découvrir le parcours singulier de cet artiste essentiel.
Imaginé comme un salon du XXIe siècle, le Salon H est né de la volonté de partager coups de cœurs et idées, dans les domaines des arts plastiques, de la création contemporaine et de la pensée.
En mobilisant la diversité des supports d’expression, le Salon H a pour parti pris de défricher et surprendre. Depuis 2021, la galerie s’est engagée à promouvoir la scène artistique brésilienne.

Nato nel 1976 nella grande città di Manaus, sperduta nel mezzo della giungla amazzonica, l'artista, dopo aver ottenuto ampi riconoscimenti nel suo Paese - dove è esposto e collezionato dai più grandi musei brasiliani - ha preferito andare in esilio in Francia in seguito alla svolta populista incarnata da Jair Bolsonaro, e alle sue disastrose conseguenze sull'Amazzonia.
È infatti la questione della lotta tra la specie umana e il suo ambiente naturale a costituire il filo conduttore del lavoro dell'artista. Cosa ci distingue come esseri biologici? Che rapporto abbiamo con il mondo animale, vegetale e minerale? Fin dove possono portarci i nostri impulsi predatori? Sono tutte domande a cui Braga risponde mobilitando molteplici risorse plastiche e impegnandosi fisicamente nel suo lavoro, facendo della natura il suo laboratorio di sperimentazione. Biologo, naturalista, geologo, archeologo, antropologo, sciamano, Braga sa trarre dalle sue origini, dalla sua storia personale e dall'inconscio collettivo i simboli e gli archetipi che daranno alla documentazione delle sue azioni un impatto potente. Attraverso una selezione di fotografie in cui il volto dell'artista si metamorfizza incorporando organi animali, in cui il mimetismo tra il mondo vegetale e quello animale è un'eco inquietante di future perturbazioni, e in cui l'artista sciamano sembra dare inizio a un rituale di rinascita in un ambiente divenuto minerale, la mostra dovrebbe permetterci di scoprire il singolare percorso di questo artista essenziale.
Concepito come una mostra del XXI secolo, il Salon H è nato dal desiderio di condividere le preferenze e le idee nel campo delle arti visive, della creazione e del pensiero contemporaneo.
Mobilitando la diversità dei mezzi di espressione, il Salon H si propone di aprire nuove strade e di sorprendere. Dal 2021, la galleria si impegna a promuovere la scena artistica brasiliana.
Committed to the Brazilian art scene, the Salon H gallery wanted to give Rodrigo Braga carte blanche for the next edition of PhotoSaintGermain. Born in 1976 in the big city of Manaus, lost in the middle of the Amazon jungle, the artist, after having acquired a wide recognition in his country - where he is exhibited and collected by the greatest Brazilian museums - preferred to go into exile in France following the populist turn embodied by Jair Bolsonaro, and its disastrous consequences on the Amazon.
For it is the question of the struggle between the human species and its natural environment that constitutes the common thread of the artist's work. What distinguishes us as biological beings? What relationships do we have with the animal, vegetable and mineral worlds? How far can our predatory impulses lead us? So many questions that Braga answers by mobilizing multiple plastic resources, and physically engaging in his work, while making nature his workshop of experimentation. By turns biologist, naturalist, geologist, archaeologist, anthropologist, shaman, Braga knows how to draw from his origins, his personal history, and the collective unconscious, the symbols and archetypes that will give the documentation of his actions a powerful impact. Through a selection of photographs in which the artist's face is metamorphosed by incorporating animal organs, in which the mimicry between the plant and animal world is a disturbing echo of future disturbances, and in which the shaman artist seems to be initiating a ritual of rebirth in an environment that has become mineral, the exhibition will allow us to discover the singular journey of this essential artist.
Imagined as a 21st century exhibition, Salon H was born from the desire to share favorites and ideas in the fields of visual arts, contemporary creation and thought.
By mobilizing the diversity of media of expression, the Salon H has the bias to clear and surprise. Since 2021, the gallery is committed to promoting the Brazilian art scene.
