F.C. Gundlach fotografiert MARIS

Das Tuch + Technik Museum Neumünster zeigt eine Ausstellung, in der Kunst und Stadtgeschichte aufeinandertreffen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Schwarz-Weiß- und Farbfotografien von F.C. Gundlach (1926–2021), die Modelle der einst in Neumünster ansässigen Bekleidungsfirma MARIS inszenieren. Kuratiert wird die Ausstellung von der Stiftung F.C. Gundlach.

F.C. Gundlach verstand sich zeitlebens als Fotograf im Auftrag. Für große Zeitschriften wie Film und Frau (1952–1966) und Brigitte (1963–1986) sowie für zahlreiche Modeunternehmen schuf er ikonische Bildwelten – darunter auch für die Konfektionsfirma MARIS. Mit dem Unternehmen verband ihn eine langjährige, enge Zusammenarbeit. Seine Fotos prägten über Jahrzehnte hinweg das Erscheinungsbild der Marke – etwa in aufwendig gestalteten Prospekten, Katalogen und Werbekampagnen.

Zwischen 1956 und den 1970er Jahren entstanden so zahlreiche Aufnahmen, die die stilvolle, hochwertige MARIS-Mode ins rechte Licht rückten. Die fotografischen Serien reichen von Werksaufnahmen über Studiofotografie bis hin zu aufwendigen On-Location-Produktionen. Auffallend oft finden sich darunter besonders attraktive Bildkompositionen vor Verkehrsmitteln wie Schiffen, Autos und Flugzeugen. Dieser stark architektonisch anmutende Bildaufbau ist zum einen typisch für das Gesamtwerk F.C. Gundlachs, zum anderen attestiert er den MARIS-Modellen Weltläufigkeit und assoziiert sie mit dem Zeitgeist des Jet Age.

Die ausgestellten Fotografien stammen aus dem Archiv der Stiftung F.C. Gundlach. Viele der bisher unveröffentlichten Motive wurden eigens für die Ausstellung neu von Original-Negativen abgezogen. Ergänzt wird die Schau durch vielfältige zeitgeschichtliche Dokumente – darunter Originalkataloge, Ausgaben des unternehmensinternen „MARIS-Boten“ sowie Making-of-Fotografien der damaligen Produktionen.

Le musée Tuch + Technik de Neumünster présente une exposition où l'art et l'histoire de la ville se rencontrent. Elle met à l'honneur des photographies en noir et blanc et en couleur de F.C. Gundlach (1926-2021), qui mettent en scène des mannequins de l'ancienne entreprise de confection MARIS, autrefois implantée à Neumünster. L'exposition est organisée par la fondation F.C. Gundlach.

Tout au long de sa vie, F.C. Gundlach s'est considéré comme un photographe de commande. Il a créé des images iconiques pour de grands magazines tels que Film und Frau (1952-1966) et Brigitte (1963-1986), ainsi que pour de nombreuses entreprises de mode, dont la société de confection MARIS. Il entretenait une collaboration étroite et de longue date avec cette entreprise. Ses photos ont marqué l'image de la marque pendant des décennies, notamment dans des brochures, des catalogues et des campagnes publicitaires élaborés.

Entre 1956 et les années 1970, il a ainsi réalisé de nombreux clichés qui ont mis en valeur l'élégance et la qualité des vêtements MARIS. Les séries photographiques vont des photos d'usine à la photographie de studio, en passant par des productions élaborées sur site. On remarque souvent des compositions particulièrement attrayantes devant des moyens de transport tels que des bateaux, des voitures et des avions. Cette composition très architecturale est d'une part typique de l'œuvre de F.C. Gundlach, d'autre part, elle confère aux modèles MARIS une touche cosmopolite et les associe à l'esprit de l'ère du jet.

Les photographies exposées proviennent des archives de la Fondation F.C. Gundlach. Bon nombre des motifs inédits ont été spécialement tirés à partir des négatifs originaux pour l'exposition. L'exposition est complétée par divers documents historiques, notamment des catalogues originaux, des éditions du magazine interne « MARIS-Boten » et des photographies des coulisses des productions de l'époque.

Il Museo del Tessuto e della Tecnologia di Neumünster presenta una mostra in cui arte e storia della città si incontrano. Al centro dell'attenzione vi sono le fotografie in bianco e nero e a colori di F.C. Gundlach (1926-2021), che ritraggono modelli dell'azienda di abbigliamento MARIS, un tempo con sede a Neumünster. La mostra è curata dalla Fondazione F.C. Gundlach.

F.C. Gundlach si è sempre considerato un fotografo su commissione. Ha creato immagini iconiche per grandi riviste come Film und Frau (1952-1966) e Brigitte (1963-1986) e per numerose aziende di moda, tra cui l'azienda di abbigliamento MARIS. Con quest'ultima lo legava una collaborazione stretta e di lunga data. Le sue foto hanno caratterizzato per decenni l'immagine del marchio, ad esempio in opuscoli, cataloghi e campagne pubblicitarie dal design elaborato.

Tra il 1956 e gli anni '70 sono state realizzate numerose fotografie che hanno messo in risalto l'eleganza e l'alta qualità della moda MARIS. Le serie fotografiche spaziano dalle immagini di fabbrica alla fotografia in studio, fino a elaborate produzioni in esterni. Tra queste spiccano spesso composizioni particolarmente attraenti con mezzi di trasporto come navi, automobili e aerei. Questa composizione fortemente architettonica è tipica dell'opera complessiva di F.C. Gundlach e, d'altra parte, attesta la cosmopolitismo dei modelli MARIS e li associa allo spirito del tempo dell'era dei jet.

Le fotografie esposte provengono dall'archivio della Fondazione F.C. Gundlach. Molti dei motivi finora inediti sono stati riprodotti appositamente per la mostra dai negativi originali. La mostra è completata da una vasta gamma di documenti storici, tra cui cataloghi originali, edizioni del “MARIS-Boten” interno all'azienda e fotografie del making of delle produzioni dell'epoca.

The Tuch + Technik Museum Neumünster is hosting an exhibition that brings together art and city history. The focus is on black-and-white and colour photographs by F.C. Gundlach (1926–2021) depicting models wearing clothes made by MARIS, a clothing company that was once based in Neumünster. The exhibition is curated by the F.C. Gundlach Foundation.

Throughout his life, F.C. Gundlach saw himself as a photographer on commission. He created iconic images for major magazines such as Film und Frau (1952–1966) and Brigitte (1963–1986) as well as for numerous fashion companies, including the clothing manufacturer MARIS. He had a long and close working relationship with the company. His photos shaped the brand's image for decades, appearing in elaborately designed brochures, catalogues and advertising campaigns.

Between 1956 and the 1970s, he took numerous photographs that showcased the stylish, high-quality MARIS fashion in the best possible light. The photographic series range from factory shots and studio photography to elaborate on-location productions. There are a striking number of particularly attractive compositions featuring modes of transport such as ships, cars and aeroplanes. This strongly architectural image composition is typical of F.C. Gundlach's oeuvre as a whole, while also lending the MARIS models a cosmopolitan air and associating them with the zeitgeist of the Jet Age.

The photographs on display come from the F.C. Gundlach Foundation archive. Many of the previously unpublished motifs have been reprinted from original negatives especially for the exhibition. The show is complemented by a wide range of contemporary documents, including original catalogues, issues of the company's in-house magazine ‘MARIS-Bote’ and behind-the-scenes photographs of the productions at the time.
