Ein Bild sagt mehr als tausend Worte – selten war dieses gern und oft bemühte Sprichwort so wahr wie in den fotografischen Installationen von Dirk Hardy. Seine Bilderreihe „Vivarium“ besticht durch konzeptionellen Erfindungsreichtum, literarische Tiefe, ausgezeichnetes Fotografenhandwerk sowie eine überraschende Präsentation.
„Vivarium“ ist der Überbegriff für jeden künstlich nachgestellten Lebensraum, beispielsweise ein Aquarium oder Terrarium. Der niederländische Fotograf Dirk Hardy erweitert den Begriff auf Menschen, indem er eine oder mehrere Figuren in einer minutiös geplanten und akribisch ausgestatteten Kulisse platziert. Folgt der Betrachter den Details und Hinweisen, entspinnt sich schnell eine Geschichte, die teilweise auch erst in einer später folgenden Szene ihre Auflösung findet. So sieht man in Episode 4 den italienischen Kinobesitzer Andrea, wie ihn seine gesellschaftlich festgelegte Rolle als Mann quält. Episode 5 zeigt Andrea, wie er sich selbst sieht, befreit von geschlechterspezifischen Identitäten.
Die Fülle an Details, die es in jedem Tableau zu entdecken gibt und gilt, ist schier überwältigend. Der Betrachter wird gefordert, die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Umgebung zu erkunden, Verbindungen zu erkennen, Schlussfolgerungen zu ziehen. So entspinnt sich ein erzählerischer Faden, durch den das Subjekt unfreiwillig seine Träume, Ängste und Lebensumstände preisgibt. So wird jede intensive Betrachtung auch zu einem voyeuristischen Akt.
Dieser Umstand wird verstärkt durch Dirk Hardys außergewöhnliche Präsentation seiner Werke. In lebensgroßen Lichtkästen werden die hyperrealischen Bilder ausgestellt; es ist, als würde man den Menschen in diesen Tableaus wirklich begegnen und in ihre Welt eintauchen. Die Erstellung jedes dieser zeitgenössischen Trompe-l’œils nimmt drei bis vier Monate in Anspruch.

Sa série d'images "Vivarium" séduit par son inventivité conceptuelle, sa profondeur littéraire, son excellent métier de photographe et sa présentation surprenante.
"Vivarium" est le terme générique pour tout espace de vie reproduit artificiellement, par exemple un aquarium ou un terrarium. Le photographe néerlandais Dirk Hardy élargit le terme aux êtres humains en plaçant un ou plusieurs personnages dans un décor minutieusement planifié et minutieusement aménagé. Si le spectateur suit les détails et les indices, une histoire se déroule rapidement, qui ne trouve parfois sa résolution que dans une scène ultérieure. Ainsi, dans l'épisode 4, on voit Andrea, le propriétaire d'un cinéma italien, tourmenté par son rôle d'homme défini par la société. L'épisode 5 montre Andrea tel qu'il se voit lui-même, libéré des identités sexuées.
La profusion de détails à découvrir dans chaque tableau est tout simplement stupéfiante. Le spectateur est invité à explorer la relation entre l'homme et son environnement, à reconnaître les liens et à tirer des conclusions. Un fil narratif se déroule ainsi, à travers lequel le sujet révèle involontairement ses rêves, ses peurs et ses conditions de vie. Ainsi, toute observation intensive devient également un acte de voyeurisme.
Cet état de fait est renforcé par la présentation exceptionnelle des œuvres de Dirk Hardy. Les visuels hyperréalistes sont exposés dans des caissons lumineux grandeur nature ; c'est comme si l'on rencontrait réellement les personnes de ces tableaux et que l'on s'immergeait dans leur univers. La création de chacun de ces trompe-l'œil contemporains prend trois à quatre mois.

Il termine "vivarium" indica qualsiasi habitat ricreato artificialmente, come un acquario o un terrario. Lo spettatore è chiamato a esplorare il rapporto tra l'uomo e il suo ambiente, a riconoscere le connessioni, a trarre conclusioni. In questo modo, si dipana un filo narrativo attraverso il quale il soggetto rivela involontariamente i suoi sogni, le sue paure e le sue circostanze di vita. Così, ogni osservazione intensa diventa anche un atto voyeuristico.
Questa circostanza è rafforzata dalla straordinaria presentazione delle opere di Dirk Hardy. Le immagini iperrealistiche sono visualizzate in light box a grandezza naturale; è come se si incontrassero davvero le persone in questi tableaux e ci si immergesse nel loro mondo. La creazione di ciascuno di questi trompe-l'œil contemporanei richiede dai tre ai quattro mesi.

Dutch photographer Dirk Hardy extends the term to humans by placing one or more figures in a meticulously planned and meticulously appointed setting. The viewer is challenged to explore the relationship between man and his surroundings, to recognize connections, to draw conclusions. Thus, a narrative thread unwinds through which the subject involuntarily reveals his dreams, fears, and life circumstances. Thus, every intense observation also becomes a voyeuristic act.
This circumstance is reinforced by Dirk Hardy's extraordinary presentation of his works. The hyper-realistic images are displayed in life-size light boxes; it is as if one were really meeting the people in these tableaux and immersing oneself in their world. The creation of each of these contemporary trompe-l'œils takes three to four months.
