Emanuel Rossetti (*1987 in Basel, lebt und arbeitet in Basel) untersucht in seiner künstlerischen Arbeit das Verhältnis von räumlichen Fragestellungen und Zuschreibungen von Bildern. Für seine fotografischen Serien, Objekte und Sound-Projekte nutzt der Künstler architektonische Strukturen und Landschaften, die er in fotografischen oder installativen Prozessen weiter analysiert. Das Prinzip der Komposition wird in der Wahrnehmung seiner Werke zum zentralen Element. Die meist seriell angelegten Fotografien von Landschaften entstehen an Orten, die an Rändern der Stadt oder in der Natur lokalisiert sind. Auf Spaziergängen entstehen Bilder, die die Antithese zwischen Stadt und Land kritisieren und mit der Erarbeitung neuer Bildkompositionen ihre Aufhebung untersuchen.
Für seine Ausstellung Stimmung hat Emanuel Rossetti im Kunsthaus Glarus grossformatige fotografische Serien entwickelt, die an unterschiedlichen Orten über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren entstanden sind. Die Fotos wurden mit einem Fischaugenobjektiv aufgenommen. Mit dieser Technik bildet sich die Aufnahme der Landschaft als kreisrundes Bild mit einem schwarzen Umfeld ab. Die Ränder der Abbildungen sind gebogen und unterstreichen eine gewisse Komplexität, die zudem von der Komposition der Landschaften als Serie unterstrichen wird. Der von Emanuel Rossetti erweiterte Begriff von Landschaft erscheint so als eine Art Schnittstelle von einem Raum in einen anderen.
In einer weiteren Werkserie arbeitet Rossetti mit Mitteln der Stereoskopie, einer Art Nebenerscheinung der Fotografie-Geschichte. Es entstehen Objekte mit stereoskopischen Fotografien, bei deren Betrachtung man sich beim Sehen selbst «zuschauen» kann und dabei zwei unterschiedliche Situationen gleichzeitig räumlich wahrnimmt.
Im Deutschen hat das Wort «Stimmung» mehrere Bedeutungen. Es könnte sich um eine innere Stimmung handeln oder aber auch auf die Stimmung der Landschaft verweisen. Darin enthalten ist etwas Schwellenartiges, bei dem der Übergang zwischen der Wahrnehmung des Inneren und des Gesehenen nicht ganz klar verläuft und beides ineinander übergeht. Gleichzeitig beschreibt Stimmung auch das Tuning von Klang. In einem weiteren Projekt entsteht gemeinsam mit Stefan Tcherepnin, mit dem Rossetti das Projekt Staged Worlds betreibt, im Ausstellungsraum eine Aufführung mit offener Probe am 10. und 11. Mai, die sich zur Teilnahme an alle richtet und eine anschliessende Aufführung vorsieht.
Emanuel Rossetti (*1987 à Bâle, vit et travaille à Bâle) explore dans son travail artistique la relation entre les questions spatiales et les attributions d'images. Pour ses séries photographiques, ses objets et ses projets sonores, l'artiste utilise des structures architecturales et des paysages qu'il analyse ensuite dans des processus photographiques ou d'installation. Le principe de composition devient un élément central dans la perception de ses œuvres. Les photographies de paysages, le plus souvent en série, sont prises dans des lieux localisés en bordure de la ville ou dans la nature. Au cours de promenades, il crée des images qui critiquent l'antithèse entre la ville et la campagne et examine sa suppression en élaborant de nouvelles compositions d'images.
Pour son exposition Stimmung, Emanuel Rossetti a développé au Kunsthaus de Glaris des séries photographiques grand format réalisées dans différents lieux sur une période de deux ans. Les photos ont été prises avec un objectif fisheye. Grâce à cette technique, la prise de vue du paysage se présente comme une image circulaire avec un environnement noir. Les bords des illustrations sont courbés et soulignent une certaine complexité, qui est en outre soulignée par la composition des paysages en tant que série. La notion de paysage, élargie par Emanuel Rossetti, apparaît ainsi comme une sorte d'interface d'un espace à un autre.
Dans une autre série d'œuvres, Rossetti travaille avec les moyens de la stéréoscopie, une sorte de phénomène secondaire de l'histoire de la photographie. Il crée des objets avec des photographies stéréoscopiques, dont l'observation permet de "se regarder" en train de voir, tout en percevant simultanément deux situations différentes dans l'espace.
En allemand, le mot "Stimmung" a plusieurs significations. Il pourrait s'agir d'une humeur intérieure ou faire référence à l'humeur du paysage. Il contient quelque chose de l'ordre du seuil, dans lequel la transition entre la perception de l'intérieur et celle de ce qui est vu n'est pas tout à fait claire et où les deux se confondent. En même temps, l'ambiance décrit aussi l'accordage du son. Dans le cadre d'un autre projet, Stefan Tcherepnin, avec qui Rossetti mène le projet Staged Worlds, réalisera dans la salle d'exposition une représentation avec répétition ouverte les 10 et 11 mai, qui s'adresse à tous et prévoit une représentation ultérieure.
Nel suo lavoro artistico, Emanuel Rossetti (*1987 a Basilea, vive e lavora a Basilea) esplora la relazione tra le questioni spaziali e l'attribuzione delle immagini. Per le sue serie fotografiche, gli oggetti e i progetti sonori, l'artista utilizza strutture architettoniche e paesaggi, che analizza ulteriormente in processi fotografici o installativi. Il principio della composizione diventa un elemento centrale nella percezione delle sue opere. Le fotografie di paesaggi, per lo più seriali, sono realizzate in luoghi localizzati ai margini della città o nella natura. Durante le passeggiate, crea immagini che criticano l'antitesi tra città e campagna e ne indagano l'abolizione sviluppando nuove composizioni pittoriche.
Per la sua mostra Stimmung, Emanuel Rossetti ha sviluppato serie fotografiche di grande formato al Kunsthaus Glarus, scattate in vari luoghi nell'arco di due anni. Le foto sono state scattate con un obiettivo fisheye. Con questa tecnica, il paesaggio viene rappresentato come un'immagine circolare con uno sfondo nero. I bordi delle immagini sono curvi e sottolineano una certa complessità, sottolineata anche dalla composizione dei paesaggi in serie. Il concetto ampliato di paesaggio di Emanuel Rossetti appare quindi come una sorta di interfaccia tra uno spazio e l'altro.
In un'altra serie di opere, Rossetti lavora con i mezzi della stereoscopia, una sorta di sottoprodotto della storia della fotografia. Crea oggetti con fotografie stereoscopiche che permettono allo spettatore di "guardarsi" e di percepire contemporaneamente due situazioni diverse dal punto di vista spaziale.
In tedesco, la parola "Stimmung" ha diversi significati. Può riferirsi a uno stato d'animo interiore o all'umore del paesaggio. Contiene qualcosa di simile a una soglia, in cui la transizione tra la percezione dell'interno e quella dell'osservato non è del tutto chiara e i due si fondono l'uno nell'altro. Allo stesso tempo, l'umore descrive anche la sintonia del suono. In un ulteriore progetto, insieme a Stefan Tcherepnin, con il quale Rossetti dirige il progetto Staged Worlds, il 10 e l'11 maggio verrà realizzata nello spazio espositivo una performance con prova aperta, aperta a tutti e seguita da uno spettacolo.
In his artistic work, Emanuel Rossetti (*1987 in Basel, lives and works in Basel) explores the relationship between spatial issues and the attribution of images. For his photographic series, objects and sound projects, the artist uses architectural structures and landscapes, which he further analyzes in photographic or installation processes. The principle of composition becomes a central element in the perception of his works. The mostly serial photographs of landscapes are created in places located on the outskirts of the city or in nature. On walks, he creates images that criticize the antithesis between the city and the countryside and investigate its abolition by developing new pictorial compositions.
For his exhibition Stimmung, Emanuel Rossetti has developed large-format photographic series at the Kunsthaus Glarus, which were taken at various locations over a period of two years. The photos were taken with a fisheye lens. Using this technique, the landscape is depicted as a circular image with a black background. The edges of the images are curved and emphasize a certain complexity, which is also underlined by the composition of the landscapes as a series. Emanuel Rossetti's expanded concept of landscape thus appears as a kind of interface between one space and another.
In another series of works, Rossetti works with the means of stereoscopy, a kind of by-product of the history of photography. He creates objects with stereoscopic photographs that allow the viewer to "watch" themselves see and perceive two different situations spatially at the same time.
In German, the word "Stimmung" has several meanings. It could refer to an inner mood or to the mood of the landscape. It contains something threshold-like, in which the transition between the perception of what is inside and what is seen is not entirely clear and the two merge into one another. At the same time, mood also describes the tuning of sound. In a further project, together with Stefan Tcherepnin, with whom Rossetti runs the Staged Worlds project, a performance with an open rehearsal will take place in the exhibition space on May 10 and 11, which is open to everyone and will be followed by a performance.
