Das Fotobuch Pathos wurde 2019 veröffentlicht und besteht aus 59 Schwarz-Weiß-Bildern, die im Laufe von fünfzehn Jahren auf meinen Wanderungen durch Lateinamerika entstanden sind. Diese Fragmente einer intimen und persönlichen Reise stellen meine Vision des lateinamerikanischen Kontinents dar, die von Kontrasten, Zweideutigkeiten und äußerst akuten Paradoxien geprägt ist.
Meine beruflichen Erfahrungen haben diese Vision zweifellos beeinflusst: Ich habe mehr als 20 Jahre lang in Kriegsgebieten gearbeitet und kannte daher die Gewalt und die menschliche Grausamkeit aus erster Hand. Ich fotografierte jedoch abseits der Orte, an denen ich arbeitete, und beobachtete fernab vom Trubel des Fotojournalismus einfach die Welt.
Durch das fotografische Objektiv nahm ich die Koexistenz von Gut und Böse, oft metaphorisch, überall und in jedem wahr, ohne moralische Wertung oder Pessimismus. Ich sah Gewalt, wo Frieden zu herrschen schien, und Poesie, wo nur Schmerz erschien.
Die Bilder im Buch Pathos wurden bei verschiedenen Wettbewerben mit dem ersten Platz ausgezeichnet: dem Milano Street Photo Festival, dem Lodi Ethical Photography Festival, dem Italy Photo Award, dem Voglino Editorial Award sowie als Finalisten für den Lens Culture Emerging Talents Award 2019 und verschiedene andere internationale Fotowettbewerbe. Sie wurden in Mailand, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Cadaqués, Rom, Triest, Ancona, Padua, Paris, Susa und Bardonecchia ausgestellt.
Le livre photographique Pathos a été publié en 2019 et se compose de 59 images en noir et blanc, prises au cours d'une quinzaine d'années lors de mes pérégrinations en Amérique latine. Ces fragments d'un voyage intime et personnel représentent ma vision du continent latino-américain, déchiré par des contrastes, des ambiguïtés et des paradoxes extrêmement aigus.
Mes expériences professionnelles ont sans doute influencé cette vision : j'ai travaillé pendant plus de 20 ans dans des zones de guerre et j'ai donc connu de près la violence et la cruauté humaine. Cependant, j'ai photographié loin des lieux où je travaillais et, loin de l'agitation du photojournalisme, j'ai simplement observé le monde.
À travers l'objectif photographique, j'ai perçu la coexistence du Bien et du Mal, souvent métaphorique, partout et en chacun, sans jugement moral ni pessimisme. J'ai vu de la violence là où il semblait y avoir de la paix et de la poésie là où il n'y avait que de la douleur.
Les images du livre Pathos ont été récompensées par la première place dans divers concours : le Milano Street Photo Festival, le Lodi Ethical Photography Festival, l'Italy Photo Award, le Voglino Editorial Award, et ont été sélectionnées comme finalistes du Lens Culture Emerging Talents Award 2019 et de divers autres concours internationaux de photographie. Elles ont été exposées à Milan, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Cadaqués, Rome, Trieste, Ancône, Padoue, Paris, Suse, Bardonecchia.
Il libro fotografico Pathos è stato pubblicato nel 2019 e consiste di 59 immagini in bianco e nero, scattate nell’arco di quindici anni nel corso del mio peregrinare attraverso l’America Latina. Questi frammenti di un viaggio intimo e personale rappresentano la mia visione del continente latinoamericano, lacerato da contrasti, ambiguità e paradossi estremamente acuti.
Le mie esperienze professionali hanno sicuramente influenzato questa visione: ho lavorato per più di vent’anni in zone di guerra e ho quindi conosciuto di prima mano la violenza e la crudeltà umana. Ho però fotografato lontano dai luoghi dove lavoravo e, lontano dagli affanni del fotogiornalismo, mi sono limitato a osservare il mondo.
Grazie all’obiettivo fotografico, ho percepito la coesistenza del Bene e del Male, spesso metaforica, ovunque e in ciascuno di noi, senza giudizi morali e senza pessimismo. Ho visto la violenza dove sembrava esserci pace e la poesia dove appariva solo dolore.
Le immagini del libro Pathos sono state premiate con il primo posto in vari concorsi: il Milano Street Photo Festival, il Festival della Fotografia Etica di Lodi, l’Italy Photo Award, il Premio Editoriale Voglino, oltre ad essere state selezionate come finaliste nel Lens Culture Emerging Talents Award 2019 e in vari altri concorsi internazionali di fotografia. Sono state esposte a Milano, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Cadaqués, Roma, Trieste, Ancona, Padova, Parigi, Susa, Bardonecchia.
The photographic book Pathos was published in 2019 and consists of 59 black-and-white images taken over fifteen years during my peregrination through Latin America. These fragments of an intimate and personal journey represent my vision of the Latin American continent, torn by contrasts, ambiguities and extremely acute paradoxes.
My professional experiences have certainly influenced this vision: I worked for more than twenty years in war zones and thus knew first-hand the violence and human cruelty. However, I photographed away from the places where I worked and, far from the drudgery of photojournalism, I simply observed the world.
Through the photographic lens, I perceived the coexistence of Good and Evil, often metaphorical, everywhere and in each of us, without moral judgment or pessimism. I saw violence where there seemed to be peace and poetry where only pain appeared.
The images in the book Pathos have been awarded first place in various competitions: the Milano Street Photo Festival, the Lodi Ethical Photography Festival, the Italy Photo Award, the Voglino Editorial Award, as well as being selected as finalists in the Lens Culture Emerging Talents Award 2019 and various other international photography competitions.
