Die Ausstellung Narratives of Resistance konzentriert sich auf wenig beachtete Konflikte zwischen Regierungen und lokalen Bevölkerungsgruppen. Der groß angelegte Lithium-Abbau im nördlichen Portugal, der langwierige Kampf um das Adivasi-Territorium in Zentralindien und die ökologischen Herausforderungen, vor denen Nepal in der Chitwan-Region steht: Alle diese Auseinandersetzungen haben gravierende Folgen für die Bewohner*innen und ihre Umwelt.
Die Künstler*innen haben diese sozialen und politischen Aufstände gegen Landraub, Ressourcenausbeutung und die anhaltende Verletzung von Menschenrechten sorgfältig dokumentiert. Indem sie fiktionale Erzählstrategien anwenden und historische Dokumente sowie Bildmaterial von Betroffenen hinzufügen, haben sie innovative Formen gefunden, um die Geschichten zugänglich zu machen. Erzählt wird aus den Perspektiven derjenigen, die die Ereignisse seit Langem miterleben und spüren, wie sie die Beziehung zu ihrer Umwelt auf Dauer verlieren und wie tiefgreifend sich diese verändert.
Könnten diese Erzählungen des Widerstands zu lebendigen Archiven werden, die zu einer größeren, verdienten Aufmerksamkeit für diese Bewegungen beitragen?
L'exposition Narratives of Resistance se concentre sur des conflits peu médiatisés entre les gouvernements et les populations locales. L'exploitation à grande échelle du lithium dans le nord du Portugal, la longue lutte pour le territoire adivasi dans le centre de l'Inde et les défis écologiques auxquels le Népal est confronté dans la région de Chitwan : Tous ces conflits ont de graves conséquences pour les habitants* et leur environnement.
Les artistes* ont soigneusement documenté ces soulèvements sociaux et politiques contre l'accaparement des terres, l'exploitation des ressources et la violation continue des droits de l'homme. En utilisant des stratégies narratives fictionnelles et en ajoutant des documents historiques et des images des personnes concernées, ils ont trouvé des formes innovantes pour rendre ces histoires accessibles. Le récit est fait du point de vue de ceux qui vivent les événements depuis longtemps et qui ressentent la perte durable de leur relation avec leur environnement et la transformation profonde de celui-ci.
Ces récits de résistance pourraient-ils devenir des archives vivantes, contribuant à une attention plus grande et méritée pour ces mouvements ?

L'estrazione di litio su larga scala nel nord del Portogallo, la lotta prolungata per il territorio Adivasi nell'India centrale e le sfide ecologiche che il Nepal deve affrontare nella regione di Chitwan: Tutte queste lotte hanno gravi conseguenze per gli abitanti e il loro ambiente.
Gli artisti hanno accuratamente documentato queste rivolte sociali e politiche contro l'accaparramento delle terre, lo sfruttamento delle risorse e la continua violazione dei diritti umani. Usando strategie narrative fittizie e aggiungendo documenti storici e filmati delle persone colpite, hanno trovato modi innovativi per rendere le storie accessibili. Le narrazioni sono raccontate dal punto di vista di coloro che assistono agli eventi da molto tempo e sentono come stanno perdendo permanentemente la loro relazione con l'ambiente e come questo stia cambiando profondamente.
Queste narrazioni di resistenza potrebbero diventare archivi viventi che contribuiscono a una maggiore e meritata attenzione a questi movimenti?
The exhibition Narratives of Resistance focuses on marginalised conflicts between national governments and indigenous communities. Large-scale lithium mining infrastructure in northern Portugal, the protracted struggle for Adivasi territory in central India and the ecological challenges facing Nepal in the Chitwan region: these have all had a serious impact on the inhabitants and their lands.
The artists have carefully documented these social and political uprisings against land grabbing, resource exploitation and the continued disregard for human rights. By using fictional storytelling strategies while adding historical documents and images of the people themselves, they have found innovative ways to tell these histories.
The perspective of the accounts is of those who have been living through the events for a long time and feel the loss of a lasting relationship with their environment and its profound transformations. Could these narratives of resistance become living archives that can contribute to the recognition of, and justice for, these resistance movements?
