Nach "Im Schatten der Bäume" im Jahr 2021 ist "Mirror of self" die 7. thematische Ausstellung, die der Hangar im Rahmen des PhotoBrussels Festivals organisiert.
Die Ausstellung besteht sowohl aus ausgewählten Künstlern (17) als auch aus den Gewinnern eines Aufrufs zur Einreichung von Projekten (6). 23 Künstler werden im Hangar zum Thema Selbstporträt ausgestellt. Unter ihnen sind 8 unter 30 Jahre alt.
Welchen Stellenwert hat das Selbstporträt heute in der Welt der zeitgenössischen Fotografie? Welche Bedeutung hat die künstlerische Praxis des Selbstporträts im Reich der Selfies noch? Durch verschiedene Projekte und künstlerische Ansätze hinterfragt "Mirror of Self" die Darstellung des Selbst, sei es auf der Suche nach Identität, einer Beziehung zu seiner Umgebung, zu anderen oder zu sich selbst.
Après 'In the Shadow of trees' en 2021, 'Mirror of self' est la 7e exposition thématique créée par le Hangar dans le cadre du Festival PhotoBrussels.
L'exposition est composée à la fois d'artistes sélectionnés (17 d'entre eux) et de lauréats d'un appel à projets (6 d'entre eux). 23 artistes sont exposés au Hangar sur le thème de l'autoportrait. Parmi eux, 8 ont moins de 30 ans.
Quel est le statut actuel de l'autoportrait dans le monde de la photographie contemporaine ? A l'heure des selfies, que représente encore la pratique artistique de l'autoportrait ? À travers différents projets et démarches artistiques, 'Mirror of Self' interroge la représentation de soi, que ce soit dans une quête identitaire, un rapport à son environnement, aux autres ou à soi-même.
Dopo "In the Shadow of trees" nel 2021, "Mirror of self" è la settima mostra tematica realizzata da Hangar nell'ambito del PhotoBrussels Festival.
La mostra è composta sia da artisti selezionati (17) che da vincitori di un bando per progetti (6). 23 artisti espongono all'Hangar sul tema dell'autoritratto. Tra questi, 8 hanno meno di 30 anni.
Qual è la posizione attuale dell'autoritratto nel mondo della fotografia contemporanea? Nel regno dei selfie, che significato ha ancora la pratica artistica dell'autoritratto? Attraverso vari progetti e approcci artistici, "Mirror of Self" si interroga sulla rappresentazione del sé, sia in una ricerca di identità, sia in un rapporto con l'ambiente, con gli altri o con se stessi.
After 'In the Shadow of trees' in 2021, 'Mirror of self' is the 7th thematic exhibition created by Hangar within the framework of PhotoBrussels Festival.
The exhibition consists of both selected artists (17 of them) and winners of a call for projects (6 of them). 23 artists are exhibited at Hangar on the theme of self-portrait. Among them, 8 are under 30 years old.
What is the current standing of the self-portrait in the world of contemporary photography? In the realm of selfies, what does the artistic practice of self-portrait still hold? Through various projects and artistic approaches, ‘Mirror of Self’ questions the representation of the self, whether in a quest for identity, a relationship with one's environment, with others or with oneself.
