New York, die Stadt der Superlative, wird in der Fotoausstellung "Mein New York" durch die beeindruckenden Perspektiven zweier renommierter Fotografen, Volker Hinz und Christian Popkes, in Monochrom festgehalten. Die Ausstellung, die im Spannungsfeld zwischen den 80er Jahren und der Gegenwart pendelt, zeigt die faszinierende Entwicklung dieser Metropole, geprägt von Gegensätzen und ständigem Wandel.
Die Street Photography von Volker Hinz, entstanden in den 80ern, dokumentiert ein New York kurz vor dem Kollaps. Inmitten der sozialen Herausforderungen und dem Bedarf von über 100 Milliarden Dollar zur Wiederherstellung der Infrastruktur, fokussierte Hinz auf das bunte und kontrastreiche Straßenleben. Als Auslandskorrespondent des stern in dieser turbulenten Zeit zeigte er durch seine Linse nicht nur die Herausforderungen, sondern auch die heitere Seite des Lebens.
Christian Popkes hingegen präsentiert ein zeitgenössisches Bild von New York als sein "State of Mind". Seit sechs Jahren überwindet er Flug- und Höhenangst um den immensen Herausforderungen an das Portrait dieser Stadt gerecht zu werden. Aus einem vibrierenden Helikopter ohne Türen gelingt ihm ein atemberaubender Blick auf die Massivität der Wolkenkratzer und die vibrierende Energie der Stadt, die niemals schläft. Mit brillanter Schärfe und einer einzigartigen Vogelperspektive fängt Popkes außergewöhnliche Details und gleichzeitig das Gesamtbild der Stadt ein.

La street photography de Volker Hinz, réalisée dans les années 80, documente un New York proche de l'effondrement. Au milieu des défis sociaux et des besoins de plus de 100 milliards de dollars pour restaurer les infrastructures, Hinz s'est focalisé sur la vie de rue, colorée et contrastée. Avec une netteté brillante et une perspective à vol d'oiseau unique, Popkes capture des détails extraordinaires et en même temps l'image globale de la ville.
