Das Studio ist stolz darauf, die erste Einzelausstellung der Schweizer Künstlerin und Modefotografin Senta Simond in einer französischen Institution zu präsentieren. Sie ist bekannt für ihre Fotografien des weiblichen Körpers, die gegen Stereotypen verstoßen. Simond präsentiert hier eine Reihe von bisher unveröffentlichten Videos und Fotos, die zum ersten Mal Musik in ihre Arbeit einbeziehen.
Das Herzstück der Ausstellung ist ein Diptychon, das Video und Fotografie in einem visuellen und akustischen Dialog zwischen zwei jungen Frauen kombiniert, die sich noch nie persönlich begegnet sind: einer jungen ukrainischen Tänzerin und einer irischen Harfenspielerin. Mit einem intimen Ansatz, der sich auf Nahaufnahmen und verschobene Schnappschüsse konzentriert, findet Simond Nuancen in flüchtigen Gesten und Ausdrücken. Das Ergebnis sind sensible und mysteriöse Bilder, die das Thema der menschlichen Verbindung erforschen, indem sie uns dazu einladen, in die Szene einzutauchen. In diesem Werk werden Simonds Bilder und, auf seinen Wunsch, die von den beiden jungen Frauen gefilmten Sequenzen, die von seinem Ansatz inspiriert wurden, miteinander vermischt, um mit den Ideen von Inszenierung und Performance, Improvisation und Zufall zu experimentieren.
Das neue Projekt war als Fortsetzung ihres ersten Künstlerbuchs Rayon Vert (2018) gedacht - der Titel, der an Éric Rohmers Film von 1986 erinnert, der auf dem gleichnamigen Roman von Jules Verne aus dem Jahr 1882 basiert, bezieht sich auf ein optisches Phänomen - einen unerwarteten Farbblitz am Horizont in der Abenddämmerung, der denjenigen, die ihn sehen, einen Moment der Klarheit bringen soll, in Wirklichkeit aber viel ungreifbarer ist.
Lausanne, Senta Simond hat ihren Master in Fotografie an der ECAL in Lausanne, Schweiz, absolviert. Sie ist Finalistin des Aperture/Paris PhotoBook Award und wurde außerdem für das British Journal of Photography "Ones to watch", Foam Talent und die Swiss Design Awards ausgewählt. Ihre Arbeit wurde in einer Einzelausstellung im Foam Museum, in der Danziger Gallery (New York) und der Webber Gallery (New York/ London) sowie in Gruppenausstellungen in Tokio, London, Biel und Basel gezeigt. Sie wird von der Webber Gallery vertreten.
Simond arbeitet seit 2018 auch als Modefotografin. Sie wurde in Genf geboren und lebt und arbeitet in Paris.

Le Studio est fier de présenter la première exposition personnelle, dans une institution française, de l'artiste et photographe de mode suisse Senta Simond. Connue pour ses photographies du corps féminin qui vont à l'encontre des stéréotypes. Simond présente ici un ensemble de vidéos et de photos inédites qui introduisent pour la première fois, la musique dans son travail.
La pièce maîtresse de l'exposition est un diptyque combinant vidéo et photographie, dans un dialogue visuel et sonore entre deux jeunes femmes qui ne se sont jamais rencontrées en personne : une jeune danseuse ukrainienne et une harpiste irlandaise. Avec une approche intime, en se concentrant sur des gros plans et des instantanés décalés, Simond trouve des nuances dans des gestes et des expressions fugaces. En résultent des images sensibles et mystérieuses qui explorent le thème de la connexion humaine en nous invitent à nous plonger dans la scène. Cette œuvre mélange les images de Simond et, à sa demande, les séquences filmées par les deux jeunes femmes inspirées de son approche, pour expérimenter les idées de mise en scène et de performance, d'improvisation et de hasard.
Ce nouveau projet a été conçu comme un prolongement de son premier livre de l'artiste, Rayon Vert (2018) - le titre, qui évoque le film d'Éric Rohmer de 1986, basé sur le roman éponyme de Jules Verne de 1882, fait référence à un phénomène optique - un éclair de couleur inattendu à l'horizon au crépuscule, censé apporter un moment de clarté à ceux qui le voient, mais qui, en réalité, est beaucoup plus insaisissable.
Lausanne, Senta Simond a obtenu un master en photographie à l'ECAL à Lausanne, en Suisse. Finaliste du prix Aperture/Paris PhotoBook, elle a également été sélectionnée pour le British Journal of Photography "Ones to watch", Foam Talent et les Swiss Design Awards. Son travail a été présenté dans une exposition solo au Foam Museum, à la Danziger Gallery (New York) et la galerie Webber (New York/ Londres) ainsi que dans des expositions collectives à Tokyo, Londres, Bienne et Bâle. Elle est représentée par la galerie Webber.
Simond travaille également comme photographe de mode depuis 2018. Née à Genève, elle vit et travaille à Paris.

Lo Studio è orgoglioso di presentare la prima mostra personale in un'istituzione francese dell'artista e fotografa di moda svizzera Senta Simond. Conosciuta per le sue fotografie del corpo femminile che vanno contro gli stereotipi. Qui la Simond presenta una collezione di video e foto inediti che introducono per la prima volta la musica nel suo lavoro.
Il fulcro della mostra è un dittico che unisce video e fotografia, in un dialogo visivo e sonoro tra due giovani donne che non si sono mai incontrate di persona: una giovane ballerina ucraina e un'arpista irlandese. Con un approccio intimo, incentrato su primi piani e istantanee fuori dagli schemi, Simond trova sfumature in gesti ed espressioni fugaci. Il risultato sono immagini sensibili e misteriose che esplorano il tema del legame umano invitandoci a immergerci nella scena. Questo lavoro mescola le immagini di Simond e, su sua richiesta, filmati girati da due giovani donne ispirate dal suo approccio, per sperimentare idee di messa in scena e performance, improvvisazione e casualità.

Le Studio is proud to present the first solo exhibition in a French institution of Swiss artist and fashion photographer Senta Simond. Known for her stereotype-busting photographs of the female body, Simond presents a collection of previously unseen videos and photos. Here, Simond presents a collection of previously unseen videos and photos, introducing music into her work for the first time.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a diptych combining video and photography, in a visual and aural dialogue between two young women who have never met in person: a young Ukrainian dancer and an Irish harpist. Taking an intimate approach, focusing on close-ups and offbeat snapshots, Simond finds nuance in fleeting gestures and expressions. The result is sensitive, mysterious images that explore the theme of human connection, inviting us to immerse ourselves in the scene. This work mixes Simond's images and, at his request, footage filmed by the two young women inspired by his approach, to experiment with ideas of staging and performance, improvisation and chance.
This new project was conceived as an extension of her first artist's book, Rayon Vert (2018) - the title, reminiscent of Éric Rohmer's 1986 film based on Jules Verne's 1882 novel of the same name, refers to an optical phenomenon - an unexpected flash of color on the horizon at dusk, meant to bring a moment of clarity to those who see it, but which, in reality, is much more elusive.
Born in Lausanne, Senta Simond obtained a Master's degree in photography at ECAL in Lausanne, Switzerland. A finalist for the Aperture/Paris PhotoBook prize, she has also been shortlisted for the British Journal of Photography "Ones to watch", Foam Talent and the Swiss Design Awards. Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at the Foam Museum, Danziger Gallery (New York) and Webber Gallery (New York/London), as well as in group shows in Tokyo, London, Biel and Basel. She is represented by Webber Gallery.
Simond has also been working as a fashion photographer since 2018. Born in Geneva, she lives and works in Paris.
