Das vierte Drittel und die Poesie der Angst

«Dieses Projekt beschäftigt sich mit der Transformation meiner Ordnungssysteme, hervorgerufen durch eine vor zweieinhalb Jahren erhaltene Krebsdiagnose. Innerhalb kurzer Zeit veränderten sich die Weg- punkte, die mir über viele Jahre als Orientierung dienten. Meine Wahrnehmungs- und Deutungskonzepte verschwanden mit der Diagnose in einen lichtarmen Raum, mehr schwarz als grau. Über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren entwickelte sich dann aber auf wunderbare Weise eine andere Wirklichkeit und Wahrnehmung nicht nur als Mensch, sondern auch als Fotograf.
Bisher hatten Farben in meiner Arbeit kaum eine Bedeutung, und auf einmal wirkten diese mit grosser Kraft auf mich ein, trugen mich förmlich durch den Tag. Um nichts möche ich diese Erfahrung missen». Reto Camenisch

Camenischs Arbeiten reihen sich in die Tradition der analogen, schwarzweissen Reportage- und Porträtfotografie. Das neue Buch von ihm beinhaltet erstmals digitale Farbfotografien. Diese entstanden als Reaktion auf eine Krebsdiagnose, die er im Sommer 2019 erhielt.
«Ich begann dem Unverständlichen Bilder zuzuweisen, in diesem Moment die einzige Möglichkeit ein «Gespräch» mit mir und der «Äusserlichkeit» anzufangen, das nicht vor Angst, Verzweiflung und Ablehnung geprägt war.»
Entstanden sind eindrückliche, bewegende Fotografien mit einer unglaublichen Kraft und Ruhe.
«Ce projet porte sur la transformation de mes structures hiérarchiques, suite à un diagnostic de cancer reçu il y a deux ans et demi. En peu de temps, les points de repère qui m’ont servi d’orientation pendant de nombreuses années ont changé. Mes concepts de perception et d’interprétation ont disparu avec le diagnostic dans un espace peu lumineux, plus noir que gris. Mais sur une période de deux ans, une autre réalité et une autre prise de conscience se sont développées de manière merveilleuse, non seulement en tant qu’être humain, mais aussi en tant que photographe. Jusqu’à présent, les couleurs n’avaient guère d’importance dans mon travail, et tout à coup, elles ont agi sur moi avec une grande force, elles m’ont littéralement porté tout au long de la journée. Je ne voudrais manquer cette expérience pour rien au monde». Reto Camenisch
"Questo progetto si occupa della trasformazione dei miei sistemi d'ordine, causata da una diagnosi di cancro ricevuta due anni e mezzo fa. In breve tempo, i punti di orientamento che mi erano serviti per molti anni cambiarono. I miei concetti di percezione e interpretazione sono scomparsi con la diagnosi in uno spazio senza luce, più nero che grigio. Nell'arco di due anni, tuttavia, si è sviluppata una realtà e una percezione diversa, in modo meraviglioso, non solo come persona ma anche come fotografo.
Fino a quel momento, i colori non avevano quasi mai avuto alcun significato nel mio lavoro, e all'improvviso hanno avuto un grande effetto su di me, trasportandomi letteralmente durante la giornata. Non avrei perso questa esperienza per nulla al mondo. Reto Camenisch

Il lavoro di Camenisch segue la tradizione della fotografia analogica, del reportage in bianco e nero e del ritratto. Il suo nuovo libro contiene per la prima volta fotografie digitali a colori. Queste sono state scattate in risposta alla diagnosi di cancro ricevuta nell'estate del 2019.
"Cominciai ad assegnare immagini all'incomprensibile, in quel momento l'unico modo per iniziare una "conversazione" con me stesso e con il "fuori" che non fosse piena di paura, disperazione e rifiuto".
"This project deals with the transformation of my systems of order, caused by a cancer diagnosis received two and a half years ago. Within a short period of time, the way-points that had served me as orientation for many years changed. My concepts of perception and interpretation disappeared with the diagnosis into a lightless space, more black than gray. Over a period of two years, however, a different reality and perception developed in a wonderful way, not only as a person, but also as a photographer.
Until then, colors had hardly had any significance in my work, and suddenly they had a powerful effect on me, literally carrying me through the day. I wouldn't want to miss this experience for anything". Reto Camenisch

Camenisch's work follows in the tradition of analog, black-and-white reportage and portrait photography. This new book of his includes digital color photographs for the first time. These were created in response to a cancer diagnosis he received in the summer of 2019.
"I began to assign images to the incomprehensible, at that moment the only way to start a "conversation" with myself and the "exterior" that wasn't filled with fear, despair and rejection."
