Auf den ersten Blick ist ein bizarres, in Holz geschnitztes Gesicht zu erkennen. Die schmale Öffnung, die den Mund darstellt, ist jedoch weitaus mehr: Sie ist der Eingang in die faszinierende Welt der Bienen. Was wir sehen ist einer von nur wenigen erhaltenen Bannkörben – ein Bienenstock, hergestellt aus organischen Materialien wie Holz, Stroh und Kuhdung, nach der norddeutschen Kunstwerkstradition. Neben der Beheimatung von Bienen diente der Korb mit seiner charakteristischen Maske auch der Abwehr vor dem ‚bösen Blick‘ und Honigdieben. Aladin Borioli (*1988, Schweiz), Gewinner des C/O Berlin Talent Award 2023 – Artist, untersucht in seinem recherchebasierten Projekt Bannkörbe anhand von Fotografien, archivarischem Material und teilnehmender Beobachtung das Zusammenleben von Menschen und Bienen sowie alternative Methoden der Imkerei. Mit Beharrlichkeit, Einfallsreichtum und der Methodik der ‚visuellen Anthropologie‘ bewegt sich Borioli in seiner kollaborativen Praxis zwischen Kunst und Wissenschaft, Fotografie, Philosophie und Feldforschung. C/O Berlin präsentiert seine erste institutionelle Einzelausstellung. Eine ausstellungsbegleitende Publikation erscheint bei Spector Books. Sie enthält neben einem Interview mit dem Künstler auch einen Essay von Bas Blaasse, Gewinner des C/O Berlin Talent Award 2023 in der Position Theorist.
Seit 2020 wird der C/O Berlin Talent Award durch die Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung ermöglicht.
Au premier coup d'œil, on distingue un visage bizarre sculpté dans le bois. Mais l'ouverture étroite qui représente la bouche est bien plus que cela : c'est l'entrée dans le monde fascinant des abeilles. Ce que nous voyons est l'une des rares ruches banales conservées - une ruche fabriquée à partir de matériaux organiques comme le bois, la paille et la bouse de vache, selon la tradition des œuvres d'art du nord de l'Allemagne. Outre le fait d'abriter des abeilles, la corbeille avec son masque caractéristique servait également à se défendre contre le 'mauvais œil' et les voleurs de miel. Aladin Borioli (*1988, Suisse), lauréat du C/O Berlin Talent Award 2023 - Artist, étudie dans son projet Bannkörbe, basé sur des recherches, la cohabitation entre les hommes et les abeilles ainsi que les méthodes alternatives d'apiculture à l'aide de photographies, de matériel d'archives et d'observations participantes. Avec persévérance, ingéniosité et la méthodologie de l''anthropologie visuelle', Borioli évolue dans sa pratique collaborative entre art et science, photographie, philosophie et recherche sur le terrain. C/O Berlin présente sa première exposition individuelle institutionnelle. Une publication accompagnant l'exposition est publiée par Spector Books. Outre une interview de l'artiste, elle contient un essai de Bas Blaasse, lauréat du C/O Berlin Talent Award 2023 dans la position de théoricien.

A prima vista si riconosce un bizzarro volto scolpito nel legno. Tuttavia, la stretta apertura che rappresenta la bocca è molto di più: è l'ingresso all'affascinante mondo delle api. Quello che vediamo è uno dei pochi alveari sopravvissuti - un alveare realizzato con materiali organici come legno, paglia e sterco di mucca, secondo la tradizione artistica della Germania settentrionale. Oltre a ospitare le api, il cesto con la sua caratteristica maschera serviva anche a difendersi dal "malocchio" e dai ladri di miele. Nel suo progetto Bannkörbe, basato sulla ricerca, Aladin Borioli (*1988, Svizzera), vincitore del C/O Berlin Talent Award 2023 - Artist, utilizza fotografie, materiale d'archivio e l'osservazione dei partecipanti per indagare sulla coesistenza di uomini e api e sui metodi alternativi di apicoltura. Con perseveranza, ingegno e la metodologia dell'"antropologia visiva", la pratica collaborativa di Borioli si muove tra arte e scienza, fotografia, filosofia e ricerca sul campo. C/O Berlin presenta la sua prima mostra personale istituzionale. Una pubblicazione che accompagna la mostra sarà edita da Spector Books. Oltre a un'intervista con l'artista, contiene anche un saggio di Bas Blaasse, vincitore del C/O Berlin Talent Award 2023 nella posizione Theorist.

At first glance, you see a bizarre face carved into wood. However, the narrow “mouth” is also the entryway to a fascinating world of bees. This is one of only a few preserved beehives made from organic materials such as wood, straw, and cow dung in the northern German artisanal tradition. In addition to sheltering bees, the container with its characteristic face also serves as protection against the “evil eye” and honey thieves. Aladin Borioli (b. 1988, Switzerland) is the winner of the C/O Berlin Talent Award 2023 – Artist. In his research-based project, Bannkörbe, he uses photographs, archival material, and participatory observation to investigate the coexistence of humans and bees as well as alternative methods of beekeeping. With perseverance, ingenuity, and a visual anthropology approach, Borioli’s collaborative practice moves between art and science, photography, philosophy, and field research. C/O Berlin presents his first solo institutional exhibition. A publication accompanying the exhibition will be published by Spector Books. In addition to an interview with the artist, it also contains an essay by Bas Blaasse, who won the C/O Berlin Talent Award 2023 in the Theorist category.
