Die Galerie CAMERA WORK präsen[ert ab dem 21. Mai 2022 die Ausstellung »David Yarrow«. Die ereignisreiche Karriere des Ausnahme-Fotografen schreibt, wie auch seine Arbeiten, Geschichte. Mit größter Passion und höchster Professionalität hat David Yarrow eine eigene Bildsprache definiert, die seine Werke unverkennbar macht. Dieses fotografische Storytelling macht ihn zu einem der gefragtesten zeitgenössischen Fotokünstler der Welt. CAMERA WORK gibt mit einer umfassenden Präsenta[on teilweise noch nie gezeigter Werke des Künstlers Einblick in dessen beeindruckende visuelle Narra[on. David Yarrow wird in Deutschland exklusiv von CAMERA WORK vertreten. Es ist die erste große Einzelausstellung des Künstlers hierzulande.
David Yarrow wurde 1966 in Glasgow geboren. Seine Leidenschaj für das Fotografieren begann früh. So gelang ihm bereits als 20-Jähriger im Aujrag der »The London Times« zum Finale der Fußballweltmeisterschat in Mexiko-Stadt das legendäre Porträt des jubelnden Pokalträgers Diego Maradona. Erst viele Jahre später wendete sich Yarrow der künstlerischen Fotografie zu und widmete sich einem neuen Mo[v: der Natur und ihrer Tierwelt. Diese Entscheidung sollte seine Karriere nachhaltig prägen.
David Yarrows stimmungsvolle Naturaufnahmen und eindringliche Tierporträts sind unverwechselbar und eine imposante Dokumenta[on der vergänglichen und bestechenden Schönheit unserer Erde, für deren Erhalt sich der Fotograf mit großem Engagement einsetzt. Infolgedessen wurden in nur zwei Jahren – von 2020 bis heute – Spenden von 4,7 Millionen Pfund aus dem Verkauf von David Yarrows Werken generiert. Yarrows Hingabe zur Fotografie begründet sich zudem in seiner Leidenschaj für das Erzählen, die er in meisterlich inszenierten Projekten umsetzt. So kollaborierte er u. a. mit weltberühmten Models wie Cindy Crawford und Cara Delevingne, der Sängerin und Grammy-Preisträgerin Ciara oder dem »Wolf of Wall Street«, Jordan Belfort. Mit ihnen schuf er themenbasierte Foto-Serien, denen der Künstler ganze Drehbücher zugrunde legte. Diese monumentalen Porträts, in welchen Yarrow auch Tieren eine Bühne bietet, sind eine Homage an das bewegte Bild, das Kino. Jedes dieser Werke vermag es, auf eindrucksvolle Weise eine Geschichte zu erzählen, wobei Yarrow zunehmend mit einem einzigar[gen Duktus Tierfotografie und inszenierte Fotografie vereint.

So wurde 2019 eine von den Oscarpreisträgern Leonardo DiCaprio und Mar[n Scorsese signierte Arbeit aus der Serie »Wolf of Wall Street« für eine Summe von 200.000 US-Dollar verkauj. Auch auf dem sekundären Kunstmarkt – u. a. Sotheby’s – verzeichnen Yarrows Arbeiten Rekordergebnisse.
