BelleVue – Ort für Fotografie präsentiert in Kooperation mit der photo basel die Ausstellung «ad rem – Photographie als Technische Intelligenz» des Schweizer Fotografen Roger Humbert.
Die Photographie ist eine besondere Form der technischen Intelligenz. Sie trägt als technische Erfindung dazu bei, die gesellschaftliche Entwicklung voranzubringen: Sie hat Dinge sichtbar gemacht, die für das menschliche Auge bis dahin unzugänglich waren und zugleich die menschliche Wahrnehmung nachhaltig verändert.
Roger Humbert hat sich in seinen Arbeiten seit jeher der technischen Intelligenz der Photographie verschrieben. Er ist zurecht bekannt und berühmt für seine wunderbaren Fotogramme und experimentellen Aufnahmen, die das Licht als solches in den Blick nehmen und zur Quelle der Gestaltung machen. Doch jenseits dessen hat er, was bisher nicht bekannt war, über Jahrzehnte hinweg auf Reisen und im Alltag auch Kameraphotographien angefertigt, die nun zum ersten Mal in einer repräsentativen Auswahl gezeigt werden.
Roger Humbert lädt uns auf eine Weltreise ein, entführt uns nach Frankreich und Italien, nach Nordafrika und Griechenland. In dieser Ausstellung sind seine Bilder zu entdecken und mit ihnen eine besondere Welt des Lichts und der Wirklichkeit der Dinge. Ad rem führt sie uns, zur Sache – und diese Sache ist unsere Wirklichkeit des Lichts, die hier zu einer wunderbaren Folge von Lichtbildern wird.
Das fotografische Werk von Roger Humbert wird von der Fotostiftung Schweiz betreut. Die Fabian & Claude Walter Galerie, Zürich vertritt Roger Humbert und unterstützt die Ausstellung im BelleVue.

La photographie est une forme particulière d'intelligence technique. En tant qu'invention technique, elle contribue à l'avancement du développement social : Elle a rendu visibles des choses qui étaient auparavant inaccessibles à l'œil humain et a en même temps changé à jamais la perception humaine.
Dans son travail, Roger Humbert a toujours été attaché à l'intelligence technique de Photographie prescrite. Il est à juste titre connu et célèbre pour ses merveilleux photogrammes et ses prises de vue expérimentales qui mettent l'accent sur la lumière en tant que telle et en faire la source de la conception. Mais au-delà de cela, ce qui était auparavant inconnu, il a également pris des photos d'appareil photo sur des décennies de voyages et de vie quotidienne, qui sont maintenant présentées pour la première fois dans une sélection représentative.
Roger Humbert nous invite à un tour du monde, nous emmène en France et en Italie, en Afrique du Nord et en Grèce. Dans cette exposition, vous pouvez découvrir ses peintures et avec elles un monde particulier de lumière et la réalité des choses. Ad rem leads à nous, à la matière - et cette matière est notre réalité de lumière, qui est ici une magnifique séquence de photographies.

Photography is a special form of technical intelligence. As a technical invention, it contributes to the advancement of social development: It has made things visible that were previously inaccessible to the human eye and at the same time has changed human perception forever.
In his work, Roger Humbert has always been committed to the technical intelligence of Photography prescribed. He is rightly known and famous for his wonderful photograms and experimental shots that focus on light as such and make it the source of the design. But beyond this, what was previously unknown, he has also taken camera photographs over decades of travel and everyday life, which are now being shown for the first time in a representative selection.
Roger Humbert invites us on a world tour, takes us to France and Italy, to North Africa and Greece. In this exhibition you can discover his paintings and with them a special world of light and the reality of things. Ad rem leads to us, to the matter - and this matter is our reality of light, which here is wonderful sequence of photographs.
