In einem umfangreichen Überblick über ihre seit 1978 entstandenen Bildserien stellt das Museum für Photographie Braunschweig vom 25.6. – 18.9. 2022 die fotografische Arbeit von Irmel Kamp (*1937, lebt in Aachen und in der Schweiz) vor. Seit einigen Jahren gehört dieses auf Themen der Architektur konzentrierte Werk zu den künstlerischen Entdeckungen einer typologisch orientierten und dabei von individuellen Perspektiven und kulturhistorischen ebenso wie soziologisch-atmosphärischen Verweisen geprägten S/W-Fotografie. Die Ausstellung im Museum für Photographie Braunschweig stellt hierzu Arbeiten aus den Werkgruppen Zink (1978-1982), Tel Aviv (1987-92), Bruxelles-Brussel (1996/97) und Moderne in Europa (1998–2006) vor. Neben individuellen Blickwinkeln auf Bauten und ihre Prägung durch Form und Ästhetik gehören stets auch durch den Menschen und die Natur geprägte Aspekte zu den besonderen Merkmalen der Fotografien von Irmel Kamp. Einen besonderen Werkkomplex stellt die frühe umfangreiche Werkgruppe Zink und die auch von einer Forschungsarbeit begleitete Werkgruppe Tel Aviv dar. Mit ihr erlangte Irmel Kamp bereits vor etwa zwei Jahrzehnten durch eine Ausstellungstournee des ifa-Instituts Aufmerksamkeit. Ihre Arbeiten wurden seither vereinzelt in Einzelausstellungen im Ludwig-Forum in Aachen, im IKOB in Eupen und in unterschiedlichen Gruppenausstellungen, wie beispielsweise kürzlich im NRW Forum in Düsseldorf innerhalb der Ausstellung Made in Düsseldorf#4 – Architektur (Februar–März 2022) sowie einigen Galerieausstellungen gezeigt und sind inzwischen Teil wichtiger Sammlungen. Nachdem das Museum für Photographie einige Arbeiten von Irmel Kamp mit Bezug zum Bauhausjubiläum im Jahr 2019 vorstellte, widmet sich die nun präsentierte Einzelausstellung in einem Überblick ihrem gesamten fotografischen Werk, das im Kontext typologisch-künstlerischer Konzepte innerhalb einer dokumentarisch ausgerichteten S/W-Fotografie betrachtet werden kann. Hierbei erinnert es in einigen Aspekten an das auf frühe Industriearchitektur konzentrierte Werk von Bernd und Hilla Becher, wenngleich die Auswahl der Motive und Bauten sowie die bildnerische Herangehensweise von Irmel Kamp individuellere und subjektivere Betrachtungen von Architektur im urbanen und ländlichen Raum zulässt. Die hochwertigen S/WFotografien sind weitgehend Handabzüge auf Baryt- oder PE Papier.
Zur Ausstellung erscheint eine Publikation (dt./engl.) im Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König mit Texten von: Bettina Brosowsky, Prof. Dr. Tatjana Schneider, Andreas Prinzing und einem Gespräch mit Irmel Kamp und den Kurator:innen Barbara Hofmann-Johnson (Direktorin Museum für Photographie Braunschweig) und Markus Mascher (Kurator, stellvertretender Direktor Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Düren). Zudem erscheinen zwei Sondereditionen aus der Werkreihe Zink.

Dans un vaste aperçu de ses séries d'images réalisées depuis 1978, le Museum für Photographie Braunschweig présente du 25.6. au 18.9. 2022 le travail photographique d'Irmel Kamp (*1937, vit à Aix-la-Chapelle et en Suisse). Depuis quelques années, cette œuvre concentrée sur des thèmes de l'architecture fait partie des découvertes artistiques d'une photographie N/B orientée vers la typologie et marquée par des perspectives individuelles et des références culturelles et historiques ainsi que sociologiques et atmosphériques. L'exposition du Museum für Photographie Braunschweig présente des travaux issus des groupes Zink (1978-1982), Tel Aviv (1987-92), Bruxelles-Brussel (1996/97) et Moderne in Europa (1998-2006). Outre les points de vue individuels sur les bâtiments et leur empreinte par la forme et l'esthétique, les aspects marqués par l'homme et la nature font toujours partie des caractéristiques particulières des photographies d'Irmel Kamp. Le vaste groupe d'œuvres Zink, réalisé à ses débuts, et le groupe d'œuvres Tel Aviv, accompagné d'un travail de recherche, constituent un ensemble d'œuvres particulier. C'est avec ce dernier qu'Irmel Kamp a attiré l'attention il y a environ deux décennies, lors d'une tournée d'exposition de l'institut ifa. Depuis, ses travaux ont été présentés de manière isolée dans des expositions individuelles au Ludwig-Forum d'Aix-la-Chapelle, à l'IKOB d'Eupen et dans différentes expositions de groupe, comme récemment au NRW Forum de Düsseldorf dans le cadre de l'exposition Made in Düsseldorf#4 - Architektur (février-mars 2022), ainsi que dans quelques expositions de galerie, et font désormais partie d'importantes collections. Après que le Museum für Photographie a présenté quelques travaux d'Irmel Kamp en rapport avec l'anniversaire du Bauhaus en 2019, l'exposition individuelle présentée maintenant est consacrée à un aperçu de l'ensemble de son œuvre photographique, qui peut être considérée dans le contexte de concepts typologiques et artistiques au sein d'une photographie N&B à orientation documentaire. Par certains aspects, elle rappelle l'œuvre de Bernd et Hilla Becher, qui se concentre sur les débuts de l'architecture industrielle, même si le choix des motifs et des bâtiments ainsi que l'approche picturale d'Irmel Kamp permettent des observations plus individuelles et subjectives de l'architecture dans les espaces urbains et ruraux. Les photographies N&B de haute qualité sont en grande partie des tirages à la main sur papier baryté ou PE.
L'exposition est accompagnée d'une publication (allemand/anglais) aux éditions de la librairie Walther und Franz König, avec des textes de : Bettina Brosowsky, Prof. Dr. Tatjana Schneider, Andreas Prinzing et un entretien avec Irmel Kamp et les conservateurs Barbara Hofmann-Johnson (directrice du Museum für Photographie Braunschweig) et Markus Mascher (conservateur, directeur adjoint du Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Düren). En outre, deux éditions spéciales de la série d'œuvres Zink seront publiées.

Il Museum für Photographie Braunschweig presenta l'opera fotografica di Irmel Kamp (*1937, vive ad Aquisgrana e in Svizzera) in una panoramica completa delle sue serie di immagini scattate a partire dal 1978 dal 25.6. al 18.9. 2022. Da alcuni anni questo lavoro, incentrato su temi architettonici, è una delle scoperte artistiche di una fotografia in b/n tipologicamente orientata e caratterizzata da prospettive individuali e riferimenti storico-culturali e sociologico-atmosferici. La mostra al Museum für Photographie Braunschweig presenta opere dei gruppi di lavoro Zink (1978-1982), Tel Aviv (1987-92), Bruxelles-Brussel (1996/97) e Moderne in Europa (1998-2006). Oltre alle prospettive individuali sugli edifici e alla loro impronta attraverso la forma e l'estetica, gli aspetti modellati dalle persone e dalla natura sono sempre tra le caratteristiche speciali delle fotografie di Irmel Kamp. Il primo gruppo di lavoro estensivo Zink e il gruppo di lavoro Tel Aviv, che è anche accompagnato da un progetto di ricerca, rappresentano un complesso speciale di opere. Irmel Kamp si è fatta notare con questo gruppo circa due decenni fa, grazie a un tour espositivo dell'Istituto ifa. Da allora, le sue opere sono state esposte sporadicamente in mostre personali al Ludwig Forum di Aachen, all'IKOB di Eupen e in varie mostre collettive, come recentemente al NRW Forum di Düsseldorf nell'ambito della mostra Made in Düsseldorf#4 - Architecture (febbraio-marzo 2022), oltre che in alcune mostre in galleria, e fanno ora parte di importanti collezioni. Dopo che il Museum für Photographie ha presentato alcune opere di Irmel Kamp in riferimento all'anniversario del Bauhaus nel 2019, la mostra personale ora presentata è dedicata a una panoramica della sua intera opera fotografica, che può essere vista nel contesto di concetti tipologico-artistici all'interno di una fotografia in b/n orientata al documentario. Per certi aspetti ricorda il lavoro di Bernd e Hilla Becher, che si concentrava sulla prima architettura industriale, anche se la selezione di motivi ed edifici e l'approccio pittorico di Irmel Kamp consentono osservazioni più individuali e soggettive dell'architettura negli spazi urbani e rurali. Le fotografie in bianco e nero di alta qualità sono in gran parte impronte di mani su carta baritata o PE.
La mostra è accompagnata da una pubblicazione (in tedesco e inglese) edita dalla libreria Walther und Franz König con testi di: Bettina Brosowsky, Prof. Dr. Tatjana Schneider, Andreas Prinzing e una conversazione con Irmel Kamp e i curatori Barbara Hofmann-Johnson (Direttrice del Museum für Photographie Braunschweig) e Markus Mascher (Curatore, Vice Direttore del Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Düren). Inoltre, saranno pubblicate due edizioni speciali della serie Zink.

In a comprehensive overview of her series of images created since 1978, the Museum für Photographie Braunschweig presents the photographic work of Irmel Kamp (*1937, lives in Aachen and Switzerland) from June 25 - September 18, 2022. For several years, this work, which focuses on architectural themes, has been one of the artistic discoveries of a typologically oriented B/W photography that is characterized by individual perspectives and cultural-historical as well as sociological-atmospheric references. The exhibition at the Museum für Photographie Braunschweig presents works from the work groups Zink (1978-1982), Tel Aviv (1987-92), Bruxelles-Brussel (1996/97) and Moderne in Europa (1998-2006). In addition to individual perspectives on buildings and their imprint through form and aesthetics, aspects shaped by people and nature are always among the special characteristics of Irmel Kamp's photographs. A special complex of works is represented by the early extensive work group Zink and the work group Tel Aviv, which is also accompanied by a research project. With this group, Irmel Kamp already gained attention about two decades ago through an exhibition tour of the ifa Institute. Since then, her works have been shown sporadically in solo exhibitions at the Ludwig Forum in Aachen, at the IKOB in Eupen, and in various group exhibitions, such as recently at the NRW Forum in Düsseldorf within the exhibition Made in Düsseldorf#4 - Architecture (February-March 2022), as well as in some gallery exhibitions, and are now part of important collections. After the Museum für Photographie presented some of Irmel Kamp's works with reference to the Bauhaus anniversary in 2019, the solo exhibition now presented is dedicated to an overview of her entire photographic oeuvre, which can be viewed in the context of typological-artistic concepts within a documentary-oriented B/W photography. In some aspects, it is reminiscent of the work of Bernd and Hilla Becher, which focuses on early industrial architecture, although the selection of motifs and buildings as well as Irmel Kamp's pictorial approach allow for more individual and subjective observations of architecture in urban and rural spaces. The high-quality b/w photographs are largely hand prints on baryt or PE paper.
The exhibition is accompanied by a publication (German/English) published by the Walther und Franz König bookstore with texts by: Bettina Brosowsky, Prof. Dr. Tatjana Schneider, Andreas Prinzing and a conversation with Irmel Kamp and the curators Barbara Hofmann-Johnson (Director Museum für Photographie Braunschweig) and Markus Mascher (Curator, Deputy Director Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Düren). In addition, two special editions from the Zink series of works will be published.
