Ende 2019 haben wir die erste Ausstellung zu Jane Birkin präsentiert, ein Duett zwischen Tony Frank, dem Porträtisten von Serge Gainsbourg, und Andrew Birkin, Janes Bruder?
Wir nutzen die diesjährige Veröffentlichung von Andrews sehr schönem Buch "l'album de famille intime", das bei Albin Michel erschienen ist, um die Bilder dieser etwas ungewöhnlichen Familie zu zeigen, deren Geschichte jeder Franzose kennt.
Als privilegierter Zeuge des Lebens seiner Schwester hat Andrew die verschiedenen Lebensabschnitte eingefangen: das brave Mädchen mit der Schleife im Haar, die junge Mutter von Kate nach ihrer Heirat mit dem Komponisten John Barry, dann die Anfänge ihrer Romanze mit dem großen Serge Gainsbourg und ihr gemeinsames Leben, die Ankunft von Charlotte, die Geburtstage, die Ferien, die Rue de Verneuil, London, das Land... diesen Alltag, den wir dank ihm für einen Moment teilen können.
Als Regieassistent an der Seite von Stanley Kubrick, Drehbuchautor und Regisseur hat er sein Leben mit Künstlern verbracht und in diesen Familienbildern die Energie und die Intimität dieser außergewöhnlichen Charaktere eingefangen. Das Profilbild von Serge mit seiner Hündin Nana und ihren beiden langen Nasen ist ebenso einfach wie perfekt. Der britische Humor auf dem Foto von Serge, der seine Zeitung liest und mit der Schlagzeile "Das Geschirrtuch brennt bei den Gainsbougs" und panischem Gesicht titelt, ist ein Genuss. Ganz zu schweigen von den Emotionen, die von den Bildern der Kinder ausgehen, die immer anwesend und bereit sind, mit dem Objektiv zu spielen!
Wir freuen uns, diese Reise in die Vergangenheit und diese Momente aus dem Leben einer einzigartigen und liebenswerten Familie mit Ihnen teilen zu können!

Nous profitons de la sortie cette année du très beau livre d’Andrew "l’album de famille intime" publié chez Albin Michel pour montrer les images de cette famille un peu particulière et dont chaque français connait l’histoire.
Témoin privilégié de la vie de sa soeur, Andrew a su capter les différentes périodes de sa vie, jeune fille sage au ruban dans les cheveux, jeune mère de Kate après son mariage avec le compositeur John Barry, puis les débuts de sa romance avec le grand Serge Gainsbourg et leur vie ensemble, l’arrivée de Charlotte, les anniversaires, les vacances, la rue de Verneuil, Londres, la campagne…ce quotidien que grâce a lui nous avons le sentiment de pouvoir partager pour un instant.
Assistant réalisateur aux côtés de Stanley Kubrick, scénariste, réalisateur, il a passé sa vie entouré d’artistes, et dans ces images de famille a su capter l’énergie et l’intimité de ces personnages hors du commun. Le portrait de Serge de profil avec sa chienne Nana et leurs 2 longs nez est aussi simple que parfaite. L’humour, tout british de la photo de Serge lisant son journal titrant « le torchon brûle chez les Gainsboug » le visage affolé , est un régal. Sans compter sur l’émotion dégagé par les clichés des enfants toujours présents et prêts à jouer avec l’objectif !
Nous sommes heureux de partager ce voyage dans le temps et ces instants de vie d’une famille unique et si attachante !

Approfittiamo della pubblicazione quest'anno del bellissimo libro di Andrew "L'album de famille intime" (L'album di famiglia intimo), edito da Albin Michel, per mostrare le immagini di questa famiglia piuttosto insolita, la cui storia è familiare a ogni francese.
Testimone privilegiato della vita di sua sorella, Andrew ha saputo cogliere i diversi periodi della sua vita: da ragazzina educata con il nastro tra i capelli, a giovane madre di Kate dopo il suo matrimonio con il compositore John Barry, poi gli inizi della sua storia d'amore con il grande Serge Gainsbourg e la loro vita insieme, l'arrivo di Charlotte, i compleanni, le vacanze, la rue de Verneuil, Londra, la campagna... questa quotidianità che, grazie a lui, ci sembra di poter condividere per un momento.
Come assistente alla regia di Stanley Kubrick, sceneggiatore e regista, ha trascorso la sua vita circondato da artisti, e in queste immagini di famiglia cattura l'energia e l'intimità di queste persone straordinarie. Il ritratto di Serge di profilo con il suo cane Nana e i loro due lunghi nasi è tanto semplice quanto perfetto. L'umorismo molto british della foto di Serge che legge il suo giornale con il titolo "I Gainsboug sono in fiamme", con il volto in preda al panico, è delizioso. Per non parlare dell'emozione generata dagli scatti dei bambini, sempre presenti e pronti a giocare con l'obiettivo!
Siamo felici di poter condividere questo viaggio a ritroso nel tempo e questi momenti di vita di una famiglia unica e affettuosa!

We're taking advantage of this year's release of Andrew's beautiful book "L'album de famille intime" (The Intimate Family Album), published by Albin Michel, to show images of this rather unusual family, whose story is known to every Frenchman.
A privileged witness to his sister's life, Andrew was able to capture the different periods of her life, from the wise young girl with the ribbon in her hair, to Kate's young mother after her marriage to composer John Barry, then the beginnings of her romance with the great Serge Gainsbourg and their life together, the arrival of Charlotte, birthdays, vacations, the rue de Verneuil, London, the countryside...this daily life that thanks to him we feel we can share for a moment.
Assistant director to Stanley Kubrick, screenwriter, director, he spent his life surrounded by artists, and in these family images has captured the energy and intimacy of these extraordinary characters. The portrait of Serge in profile with his dog Nana and their 2 long noses is as simple as it is perfect. The very British humor of the photo of Serge reading his newspaper with the headline "The Gainsbougs are on fire", his face in a panic, is a delight. Not to mention the emotion generated by the shots of the children, always present and ready to play with the lens!
We're delighted to share this journey back in time, and these moments in the life of a unique and endearing family!
