Das Musée Réattu hat dank der Dynamik seiner Fotoabteilung schon immer enge Beziehungen zu Künstlern, Galeristen und Sammlern aus der ganzen Welt geknüpft. Doch zum ersten Mal in seiner Geschichte öffnet es seine Wände für eine Privatsammlung. Die Sammlung von Florence und Damien Bachelot umfasst fast tausend Werke. Sie legt großen Wert auf die Qualität und den historischen Wert der Abzüge und ist in der humanistischen, dokumentarischen und sozialen Fotografie von Anfang des 20.
Für die Bachelots ist das Sammeln ebenso ein Engagement für das Medium in all seiner Materialität und Einzigartigkeit wie die Unterstützung von Künstlern. Dies entspricht dem Ansatz des Réattu, das sich als erstes Kunstmuseum in Frankreich für die patrimoniale Dimension der Fotografie interessierte und gleichzeitig die Werke der Fotografen förderte.
Hundertzwanzig Werke wurden zum Thema Porträt ausgewählt. Sie sind in den ständigen Sammlungen zwischen Gemälden und Skulpturen zu sehen und zeichnen dann in den Räumen, die ganz der Sammlung Bachelot gewidmet sind, eine einzigartige Geschichte der Fotografie. Auf die großen amerikanischen Fotografen (Diane Arbus, Saul Leiter), die französischen Fotografen (Robert Doisneau, Brassaï) und die absoluten Ikonen - Young boy von Paul Strand, Lella von Édouard Boubat - folgen neuere Erwerbungen (Luc Delahaye, Laura Henno), die die Dynamik der Sammlung widerspiegeln, die heute stärker auf das zeitgenössische Kunstschaffen ausgerichtet ist.
Le musée Réattu, grâce au dynamisme de son département photographique, a toujours noué des liens étroits avec des artistes, galeristes et collectionneurs du monde entier. Mais pour la première fois de son histoire, il ouvre ses cimaises à une collection privée. Comptant près de mille œuvres, la collection Florence et Damien Bachelot, profondément attachée à la qualité et à la valeur historique des tirages, est ancrée dans la photographie humaniste, documentaire et sociale du début du XXe siècle à nos jours.
Pour les Bachelot, collectionner est autant un engagement en faveur du médium dans toute sa matérialité et sa singularité qu'un soutien aux artistes. Cette démarche fait écho à celle du Réattu, qui fut le premier musée d'art en France à s'intéresser à la dimension patrimoniale de la photographie, tout en promouvant l’œuvre des photographes.
Cent-vingt œuvres ont été sélectionnées sur le thème du portrait. Elles s'invitent dans les collections permanentes entre peintures et sculptures, puis, dans des salles entièrement consacrées à la collection Bachelot, dessinent une histoire singulière de la photographie. Aux grands photographes américains (Diane Arbus, Saul Leiter) français (Robert Doisneau, Brassaï) et aux icônes absolues – Young boy de Paul Strand, Lella d’Édouard Boubat – succèdent des acquisitions récentes (Luc Delahaye, Laura Henno) qui reflètent le dynamisme de la collection, aujourd'hui plus orientée vers la création contemporaine.
Grazie al suo dinamico dipartimento di fotografia, il Musée Réattu ha sempre stretto legami con artisti, galleristi e collezionisti di tutto il mondo. Ma per la prima volta nella sua storia, apre le porte a una collezione privata. Composta da quasi mille opere, la collezione di Florence e Damien Bachelot è profondamente impegnata nella qualità e nel valore storico delle sue stampe, ed è radicata nella fotografia umanistica, documentaria e sociale dall'inizio del XX secolo ai giorni nostri.
Per i Bachelot, il collezionismo è un impegno verso il mezzo fotografico in tutta la sua materialità e unicità, oltre che verso il sostegno agli artisti. Questo approccio fa eco a quello del Réattu, che è stato il primo museo d'arte in Francia a interessarsi alla dimensione patrimoniale della fotografia, promuovendo al contempo il lavoro dei fotografi.
Centoventi opere sono state selezionate sul tema del ritratto. Esse sono esposte nelle collezioni permanenti, accanto a dipinti e sculture, e poi, in sale interamente dedicate alla collezione Bachelot, ripercorrono una singolare storia della fotografia. Ai grandi fotografi americani (Diane Arbus, Saul Leiter), francesi (Robert Doisneau, Brassaï) e alle icone assolute - Young Boy di Paul Strand, Lella di Édouard Boubat - seguono le recenti acquisizioni (Luc Delahaye, Laura Henno) che riflettono il dinamismo della collezione, ora più orientata verso la creazione contemporanea.
The Florence and Damien Bachelot Collection encompasses humanist, documentary, and social photography from the early 20th century to today, committed as much to the photographic medium, in its unique materiality, as to its artists. This principle echoes that of the Réattu, the first French art museum to explore the heritage as well as the artistic aspect of photography.
Portrait-themed photographs from the Collection are juxtaposed with the Réattu’s paintings and sculptures, delineating a unique history of photography. Great photographers, American (Diane Arbus, Saul Leiter) and French (Robert Doisneau, Brassaï), and iconic images–Paul Strand’s Young Boy, Édouard Boubat’s Lella–are followed by recent acquisitions (Luc Delahaye, Laura Henno) reflecting the collection’s dynamic turn towards contemporary creation.
