Der Stuttgarter Fotograf Jan Hottmann (* 1986) ist der vierte Resident im von der Stiftung Hamburger Kunstsammlungen (SHK) initiierten Förderprogramm Fonds für Junges Design am MK&G. Seine Abschlussarbeit „Von Blei zu Gold“ mit Fotografien und Animationen wird vom 21. Oktober bis 11. Dezember 2022 präsentiert. In Auseinandersetzung mit der Sammlung des MK&G nutzt er die Fotografie als ein Medium, in dem Realität und Fiktion miteinander verschmelzen. Offenkundig manipuliert Hottmann eine Videospielgrafik mit digitalen Programmen und erschafft damit neue Narrative.
In einer virtuellen Stadt inszeniert Hottmann männliche Protagonisten, die sich von verschiedenen Emotionen wie Wut, Einsamkeit, Zerbrechlichkeit und Kontrollzwang leiten lassen. Inspiriert von der eigenen Faszination für Pflanzen legt er einen fiktiven Garten mit besonderen Gewächsen an, in dem die Protagonisten aufeinandertreffen und in der Begegnung eine persönliche Entwicklung durchmachen. Viele Bilder gehen auf Erlebnisse und Begegnungen zurück, die Jan Hottmann während seines Aufenthalts in Hamburg gemacht hat. In der virtuellen 3D-Umgebung verbindet er seine persönliche Erfahrung mit Fotografien, die in Hamburg entstehen.
Le photographe de Stuttgart Jan Hottmann (* 1986) est le quatrième résident du programme de soutien Fonds pour le jeune design au MK&G, initié par la Fondation Hamburger Kunstsammlungen (SHK). Son travail de fin d'études "Du plomb à l'or", composé de photographies et d'animations, sera présenté du 21 octobre au 11 décembre 2022. En se confrontant à la collection du MK&G, il utilise la photographie comme un médium dans lequel la réalité et la fiction se confondent. Manifestement, Hottmann manipule un graphisme de jeu vidéo avec des programmes numériques et crée ainsi de nouveaux récits.
Dans une ville virtuelle, Hottmann met en scène des protagonistes masculins qui se laissent guider par différentes émotions comme la colère, la solitude, la fragilité et le besoin de contrôle. Inspiré par sa propre fascination pour les plantes, il crée un jardin fictif avec des plantes particulières, dans lequel les protagonistes se rencontrent et vivent une évolution personnelle au fil des rencontres. De nombreux visuels sont issus d'expériences et de rencontres que Jan Hottmann a faites lors de son séjour à Hambourg. Dans l'environnement virtuel en 3D, il associe son expérience personnelle à des photographies prises à Hambourg.

Il suo progetto finale "From Lead to Gold" con fotografie e animazioni sarà presentato dal 21 ottobre all'11 dicembre 2022. In un'esplorazione della collezione MK&G, utilizza la fotografia come mezzo in cui realtà e finzione si fondono. Manipolando apertamente la grafica di un videogioco con programmi digitali, Hottmann crea nuove narrazioni.
In una città virtuale, Hottmann mette in scena protagonisti maschili guidati da varie emozioni come la rabbia, la solitudine, la fragilità e il bisogno di controllo. Ispirandosi alla propria fascinazione per le piante, crea un giardino immaginario con piante speciali in cui i protagonisti si incontrano e vivono un'evoluzione personale nell'incontro. Molte immagini sono basate su esperienze e incontri che Jan Hottmann ha avuto durante il suo soggiorno ad Amburgo. Nell'ambiente virtuale 3D, l'autore combina la sua esperienza personale con fotografie scattate ad Amburgo.
The Stuttgart-based photographer Jan Hottmann (b. 1986) is the fourth resident to take part in the programme Fund for Young Design at the MK&G, established by the Stiftung Hamburger Kunstsammlungen (SHK). His final project "Lead to Gold", comprising photographs and animated films, will be presented from 21 October to 11 December 2022. Inspired by the MK&G collection, Hottmann uses photography here as a medium that merges reality and fiction. Digital programs allow him to manipulate video game graphics in an obvious manner to create new narratives.
In a virtual city, Hottmann stages male protagonists whose actions are guided by emotions ranging between anger, loneliness, fragility, and the need for control. Fascinated by plants, he has created a fantasy garden with special flora where the characters come together and in the process undergo personal development. Many of the images we see are based on experiences and encounters Hottmann had during his stay in Hamburg. In the virtual 3D environment, he fuses his personal observations with photographs he took in Hamburg.
