Anlässlich der Ausstellung Kiki Kogelnik: Now is the Time im Bank Austria Kunstforum zeigt die AnzenbergerGallery Vintagefotografien aus dem Werk von Michael Horowitz, die Kogelnik und andere Persönlichkeiten zeigen.
Vor mehr als 50 Jahren besucht der 18-jährige Fotograf Michael Horowitz die aufstrebende Pop Art-Ikone Kiki Kogelnik in New York. Die kommunikative junge Frau findet in Amerika bald Anschluss an die New Yorker-Kunstszene um Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg und Roy Lichtenstein. Zu jener Zeit schafft die extravagante Performerin Space Art-Bilder und Hangings-Skulpturen aus Körperumrissen in Vinyl – die sie auf Kleiderhaken aufhängt. Arbeiten, die heute zu ihren wichtigsten zählen.
1969 begleitet Michael Horowitz Kiki Kogelnik durch ihr New York. Die beiden durchstreifen drei Tage lang Museen, performen auf Baustellen skurrile Acts und ziehen sich danach in Kikis Wohnung zurück, um auch hier das Leben von Österreichs einziger Pop Art-Künstlerin fotografisch zu dokumentieren. Einer einzigartigen Frau. Ihr Lebensmotto: „Künstler sein ist kein Beruf, sondern eine Form zu existieren, eine passionierte Art ein Mensch zu sein.“ Die Zeitdokumente des Wiener Fotografen Michael Horowitz aus dem New York Kogelniks manifestieren dies auf einmalige Art.
Neben noch nie gezeigten Kiki Kogelnik-Original-Vintage-Fotos aus den Entstehungsjahren präsentiert Horowitz in der AnzenbergerGallery einzigartige Vintage-Menschenbilder von Arnold Schwarzenegger, den er bereits Anfang der 1970er Jahre fotografierte, bis Thomas Bernhard, Helmut Qualtinger und der jungen Senta Berger.

Il y a plus de 50 ans, le photographe Michael Horowitz, âgé de 18 ans, rend visite à Kiki Kogelnik, une icône montante du pop art, à New York. La jeune femme communicative ne tarde pas à rejoindre en Amérique la scène artistique new-yorkaise autour d'Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg et Roy Lichtenstein. À cette époque, l'extravagante performeuse crée des tableaux de space art et des sculptures de hangings à partir de silhouettes corporelles en vinyle - qu'elle accroche sur des patères. Des œuvres qui comptent aujourd'hui parmi ses plus importantes.
En 1969, Michael Horowitz accompagne Kiki Kogelnik dans son New York natal. Pendant trois jours, ils parcourent les musées, réalisent des performances bizarres sur des chantiers, puis se retirent dans l'appartement de Kiki pour, là aussi, documenter par la photographie la vie de la seule artiste pop art d'Autriche. Une femme unique en son genre. Sa devise de vie : "Être artiste n'est pas un métier, mais une façon d'exister, une façon passionnée d'être un être humain". Les documents d'époque du photographe viennois Michael Horowitz sur le New York de Kogelnik le manifestent de manière unique.
Outre des photos vintage originales de Kiki Kogelnik datant des années de sa création et jamais montrées auparavant, Horowitz présente à l'AnzenbergerGallery des photos humaines vintage uniques, d'Arnold Schwarzenegger, qu'il a photographié dès le début des années 1970, à Thomas Bernhard, Helmut Qualtinger et la jeune Senta Berger.

In America, la giovane donna comunicativa trova presto la sua strada nella scena artistica newyorkese intorno a Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg e Roy Lichtenstein. All'epoca, la stravagante performer creava dipinti di Space Art e sculture Hangings fatte di sagome del corpo in vinile, che appendeva agli appendiabiti. More than 50 years ago, 18-year-old photographer Michael Horowitz visits aspiring Pop Art icon Kiki Kogelnik in New York. In America, the communicative young woman soon finds her way into the New York art scene around Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg and Roy Lichtenstein. At that time, the extravagant performer created Space Art paintings and Hangings sculptures made of body outlines in vinyl - which she hung on coat hooks. In 1969, Michael Horowitz accompanies Kiki Kogelnik through her New York. The two roam museums for three days, perform whimsical acts at construction sites, and then retreat to Kiki's apartment to photographically document the life of Austria's only female Pop artist as well.
