Die Ausstellungssaison 2023 wird mit einer Ausstellung von bisher unveröffentlichten Werken von Werner Bischof (Zürich, 1916 - Trujillo, Peru, 1954) eröffnet.
Anhand von rund 100 digitalen Farbabzügen von Originalnegativen die von 1939 bis Mitte der 1950er-Jahre entstanden sind, wird das farbige Werk des Schweizer Fotografen, der als einer der grossen Meister der Reportage und Fotografie des 20. Jahrhunderts gilt, erstmals umfassend erschlossen.
Die Ausstellung ist als freie Reise durch die von Bischof besuchten und erlebten Welten gedacht und umfasst die gesamte Spanne seines Schaffens. Sie zeigt Farbfotografien, die mit einer Rolleiflex-Kamera mit ihren charakteristischen quadratischen Negativen bzw. mit einer Leica mit ihren klassischen 35-mm-Rollenfilmen aufgenommen wurden. Die Farbexplosion ist besonders auffällig bei einer Gruppe von Werken, die mit einer Devin Tri-Colour Kamera aufgenommen wurden, die eine Farbwiedergabe von höchster Qualität und Schärfe garantiert. Die Bilder, die Bischof mit dieser Kamera gemacht hat, werden hier zum ersten Mal der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert. Die ausgestellten Sujets sind bezeichnend für das Werk Bischofs, dem es in seinen Fotografien aus allen Teilen der Welt gelingt, Ästhetik und Emotion auf unvergleichliche Weise zu vereinen.

La saison d’exposition 2023 débute par une exposition d’œuvres inédites de Werner Bischof (Zurich, 1916 - Trujillo, Pérou, 1954).
Les œuvres du photographe suisse, considéré comme l’un des grands maîtres du reportage et de la photographie du XXe siècle, sont explorées pour la première fois de manière exhaustive grâce à une centaine de tirages numériques en couleur issus de négatifs originaux des années 1939 et 1950.
L’exposition est conçue comme un voyage libre à travers les mondes que Bischof a visités et expérimentés, et couvre l’ensemble de sa carrière. Elle présente une alternance d’images en couleur obtenues à l’aide d’un appareil photographique Rolleiflex, avec ses négatifs carrés caractéristiques, et d’un Leica, avec ses rouleaux de film classiques de 35 mm. L’explosion des couleurs est particulièrement perceptible dans un groupe d’œuvres prises avec la caméra Devin Tri-Colour, qui garantit un rendu des couleurs de la plus haute qualité et définition. Les images prises par Bischof avec cet appareil sont présentées au public pour la première fois. Les sujets exposés sont ceux bien connus de l’artiste qui, dans des photographies prises aux quatre coins du monde, parvient toujours, comme peu d’autres, à combiner esthétique et émotion dans des compositions parfaites.

La stagione espositiva 2023 si apre con una mostra di opere inedite di Werner Bischof (Zurigo, 1916 – Trujillo, Perù, 1954).
Attraverso circa 100 stampe digitali a colori dal 1939 agli anni ’50 vengono esplorate per la prima volta in modo completo le opere a colori del fotografo svizzero, considerato uno dei grandi maestri del reportage e della fotografia del Novecento.
L’esposizione si propone come un libero viaggio attraverso i mondi visitati e vissuti da Bischof e copre tutto l’arco della sua carriera. Il percorso presenta un’alternanza di immagini a colori ottenute dall’utilizzo di una macchina fotografica Rolleiflex, dai particolari negativi quadrati, e di una Leica, dai classici rullini da 35 mm. L’esplosione del colore si apprezza soprattutto in un gruppo di opere scattate con la Devin Tri-Color Camera, che garantiva una resa cromatica di altissima qualità e definizione. Le immagini scattate da Bischof con questa macchina sono presentate al pubblico per la prima volta. I soggetti in mostra sono quelli noti dell’artista, che, in scatti fotografici realizzati dai quattro angoli del mondo, riesce sempre a combinare come pochi altri estetica ed emozione in composizioni perfette.

The 2023 exhibition season opens with a show of previously unseen works by Werner Bischof (Zurich, 1916 – Trujillo, Peru, 1954).
It presents around 100 colour digital prints from original negatives from 1939 to the1950s: a chance to explore all of the Swiss photographer’s colour images for the very first time. Bischof is held to be one of the great masters of reportage and photography of the twentieth century.
The exhibition is a tour of the worlds he visited and lived in, and covers the entire span of his career. It alternates between colour photos taken using a Rolleiflex, with its characteristic square negatives, and a Leica, with classic 35 mm film. The impact of colour can be appreciated above all in a group of works taken with a Devin Tri-Color Camera, which delivered exceptionally high quality colour and definition. This will be the first opportunity for the public to see the images Bischof took with this camera. The images featured showcase what he was renowned for: flawlessly composed shots, taken all over the world, that masterfully combine the aesthetic element with and the emotional aspect.
