Die Ausstellung von Irène Jonas findet parallel zur großen Retrospektive statt, die Rosa Bonheur den ganzen Sommer über im Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux gewidmet ist, bevor sie im Herbst nächsten Jahres in das Musée d'Orsay in Paris einziehen wird.
Im Vorfeld des 200. Geburtstags von Rosa Bonheur und der im Laufe des Jahres geplanten Veranstaltungen war Irène Jonas, die auch Soziologin ist, 2021 Teil des Programms "Ile-deFrance" für Schriftstellerresidenzen. Sie verbrachte daher mehrere Aufenthalte im Château de Rosa Bonheur in Thomery, nicht weit vom Wald von Fontainebleau entfernt. Dieser Ort, an dem die Tiermalerin lebte, wurde von ihr 1859 renoviert. Das Schloss und sein Park wurden seitdem nur wenig verändert, was es zu einem seltenen Zeugnis des Kulturerbes macht. Irène Jonas wurde dort aufgenommen, um dazu beizutragen, Rosa Bonheur und das Schaffen von Frauen bekannt zu machen. Sie schrieb dort, nutzte aber auch die Gelegenheit, in historischen Kostümen zu drehen, um den Geist des Ortes einzufangen.
Wie in den meisten ihrer Arbeiten befasst sich Irène Jonas mit der Erinnerung, den Spuren einer persönlichen und kollektiven Geschichte. Indem sie ihre fotografischen Abzüge direkt auf der Oberfläche mit Öl erhöht, verleiht Irène Jonas dieser Erinnerung Farbe. Wir navigieren zwischen Vergangenheit und Gegenwart. Die Aufnahmen sind zeitgenössisch, das manuelle malerische Verfahren zählt uns eine vergangene Zeit vor, deren Zeugen wir werden. Die zeitliche und räumliche Unbestimmtheit, die einen Großteil der Arbeit von Irène Jonas durchzieht, steht im Mittelpunkt dieser Serie.
Auch das feministische Engagement von Rosa Bonheur war kein Fremdwort für Irène Jonas' Entscheidung, sich an dieser Künstlerresidenz zu beteiligen. Als Soziologin hat sie mehrere Artikel zum Thema Gender veröffentlicht und eine Studie über Fotografinnen durchgeführt.
Die Begegnung lädt sich auch oft in die Schaffenszeit von Irène Jonas ein. Und sie weiß sie zu nutzen. Hier, ohne von der Anwesenheit der Statisten eines Dokumentarfilms, der im Schloss von Rosa Bonheur gedreht wurde, gewarnt worden zu sein, war sie einfach da. Die Magie und der Geist von Rosa Bonheur haben sich festgesetzt. Irène nahm sie im Moment der Aufnahme durch ihren Sucher auf und stellte sich bereits die Farbtöne und Düfte vor.
L’exposition d’Irène Jonas se déroule en parallèle de la grande rétrospective consacrée tout l’été à Rosa Bonheur au Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, avant que celle-ci ne rejoigne à l’automne prochain les cimaises du Musée d’Orsay, à Paris.
En amont du bicentenaire de la naissance de Rosa Bonheur et des événements prévus tout au long de l’année, Irène Jonas, aussi sociologue, a fait partie en 2021 du programme «Ile-deFrance» de résidences d’écrivains. Elle a donc passé plusieurs séjours au Château de Rosa Bonheur, à Thomery, non loin de la forêt de Fontainebleau. Ce lieu où vécu la peintre animalière a été rénové par cette dernière en 1859. Le château et son parc n’ont subi que très peu de transformations depuis, ce qui en fait un témoignage patrimonial rare. Irène Jonas y a été accueillie pour contribuer à faire connaître Rosa Bonheur et la création féminine. Elle y a mené un travail d’écriture mais a profité également d’un tournage en costumes d’époque pour saisir l’esprit du lieu.
Comme dans la majeure partie de son travail, Irène Jonas questionne la mémoire, les traces d’une histoire personnelle et collective. C’est en rehaussant à l’huile ses tirages photographiques directement sur leur surface qu’Irène Jonas donne des couleurs à cette mémoire. Nous naviguons entre passé et présent. Les prises de vue sont contemporaines, le procédé pictural manuel nous compte un temps révolu, dont nous devenons les témoins. L’indétermination temporelle et spatiale qui traverse une grande partie du travail d’Irène Jonas est au coeur de cette série.
L’engagement féministe de Rosa Bonheur n’est pas non plus étranger au choix d’Irène Jonas de s’investir dans cette résidence artistique. En tant que sociologue, elle a publié plusieurs articles sur le genre et réalisé une étude sur les femmes photographes.
La rencontre s’invite aussi souvent dans le temps de la création d’Irène Jonas. Et elle sait s’en saisir. Ici, sans être avertie de la présence des figurants d’un documentaire-fiction qui se tournait au château de Rosa Bonheur, elle étail là. La magie et l’esprit de Rosa Bonheur se sont installés. Irène les a saisi dans son viseur, au moment de la prise de vue, en en imaginant déjà les teintes et les parfums.
La mostra di Irène Jonas si svolge parallelamente alla grande retrospettiva dedicata a Rosa Bonheur al Musée des Beaux-Arts di Bordeaux per tutta l'estate, prima di trasferirsi al Musée d'Orsay di Parigi in autunno.
In vista del bicentenario della nascita di Rosa Bonheur e degli eventi previsti nel corso dell'anno, Irène Jonas, che è anche sociologa, ha partecipato al programma di residenze per scrittori "Ile-de-France" nel 2021. Trascorse diversi soggiorni nel castello di Rosa Bonheur, a Thomery, non lontano dalla foresta di Fontainebleau. Il luogo in cui visse la pittrice di animali fu ristrutturato da lei nel 1859. Il castello e il suo parco hanno subito pochissime modifiche da allora, il che lo rende un raro sito del patrimonio. Irène Jonas è stata accolta lì per contribuire a far conoscere meglio Rosa Bonheur e l'arte femminile. Vi ha condotto un progetto di scrittura, ma ha anche approfittato di una ripresa cinematografica in costumi d'epoca per catturare lo spirito del luogo.
Come nella maggior parte del suo lavoro, Irène Jonas si interroga sulla memoria, sulle tracce di una storia personale e collettiva. Impreziosendo con l'olio le sue stampe fotografiche direttamente sulla loro superficie, Irène Jonas dà colore a questa memoria. Navighiamo tra passato e presente. Le fotografie sono contemporanee, il processo pittorico manuale ci riporta a un'epoca passata, di cui diventiamo testimoni. L'indeterminazione temporale e spaziale che attraversa gran parte del lavoro di Irene Jonas è al centro di questa serie.
L'impegno femminista di Rosa Bonheur è anche un fattore che ha spinto Irène Jonas a investire in questa residenza artistica. Come sociologa, ha pubblicato diversi articoli sul genere e ha condotto uno studio sulle donne fotografe.
Anche gli incontri fanno spesso parte del processo creativo di Irène Jonas. E sa come coglierla. Qui, ignara della presenza delle comparse di un documentario-fiction che girava nel castello di Rosa Bonheur, c'era lei. La magia e lo spirito di Rosa Bonheur si sono insediati. Irène li ha catturati nel suo mirino, al momento dello scatto, immaginando già i colori e i profumi.
The exhibition of Irène Jonas takes place in parallel with the great retrospective devoted all summer to Rosa Bonheur at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, before it joins the Musée d'Orsay in Paris next fall.
In the run-up to the bicentenary of Rosa Bonheur's birth and the events planned throughout the year, Irène Jonas, who is also a sociologist, was part of the "Ile-de-France" program of writers' residencies in 2021. She spent several stays at the Château de Rosa Bonheur, in Thomery, not far from the forest of Fontainebleau. This place where the animal painter lived was renovated by her in 1859. The castle and its park have undergone very few transformations since then, which makes it a rare patrimonial testimony. Irène Jonas was welcomed there to help make Rosa Bonheur and women's art better known. She wrote a book there, but also took advantage of a shoot in period costumes to capture the spirit of the place.
As in most of her work, Irène Jonas questions memory, the traces of a personal and collective history. It is by enhancing her photographic prints with oil directly on their surface that Irène Jonas gives color to this memory. We navigate between past and present. The shots are contemporary, the manual pictorial process counts us a bygone time, of which we become the witnesses. The temporal and spatial indeterminacy that runs through much of Irene Jonas' work is at the heart of this series.
Rosa Bonheur's feminist commitment is not foreign to Irène Jonas' choice to invest herself in this artistic residency. As a sociologist, she has published several articles on gender and conducted a study on women photographers.
Encounters are also often part of Irène Jonas' creative process. And she knows how to seize it. Here, unaware of the presence of the extras of a documentary-fiction filming at Rosa Bonheur's castle, she was there. The magic and the spirit of Rosa Bonheur were there. Irene captured them in her viewfinder, at the moment of the shooting, already imagining the tones and the perfumes.
