Raffinerie – La fin d'une ère

An der Schwelle zum dritten Jahrtausend sieht sich unsere Welt mit Veränderungen von ungeahntem Ausmaß konfrontiert. Diese Veränderungen zeigen sich direkt vor unserer Haustür, in der Landschaft, die uns umgibt, bis hin zu der Ebene, in der wir wohnen. In ihrem Zentrum steht eine Raffinerie, deren monumentale Präsenz den Horizont beherrscht - und die bald verschwinden wird.
Abwechselnd als Symbol der Moderne oder als Ärgernis betrachtet, war diese Fabrik eine Säule unseres Wohlstands. Als Ergebnis unserer Zivilisation hätte sie in ferner Zukunft den Status eines historischen Monuments erlangen können, das wie ein antikes oder mittelalterliches Relikt die Neugierde weckt. Doch dazu kam es nicht. Die Zeiten ändern sich, sie verschwindet und mit ihr die Erinnerung an die Menschen, die mühsam und teilweise mit hingebungsvoller Leidenschaft daran gearbeitet haben.
Angesichts dieses Ereignisses wollten zwei Fotografen, ein Architekt und ein Künstlerpaar die Erinnerung daran bewahren. Auch wenn es sich dabei um eine Dokumentation handelt, ist sie nicht darauf beschränkt. Eine solche Kulisse bietet eine beachtliche Vielfalt an Ansätzen; sie regt dazu an, sich über die bevorstehenden Umwälzungen Gedanken zu machen oder einfach die Schönheit und Ästhetik des Ortes zu genießen.
Ein Projekt dieser Größenordnung muss geteilt werden, insbesondere mit der lokalen Bevölkerung, die daran gewöhnt ist, täglich zu leben, zu arbeiten und die Veränderung ihrer Landschaft zu beobachten. Die Galerie du Crochetan ist der ideale Ort für diese Initiative, indem sie diese Bilder ausstellt, um sie der Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren und ihr einen intimen Blick auf das Innere dieser industriellen "Festung" zu gewähren.
Au seuil du troisième millénaire, notre monde est confronté à des mutations d’une ampleur insoupçonnée. Ces transformations se manifestent à notre porte, dans le paysage qui nous entoure, jusqu’à la plaine où nous résidons. En son centre se dresse une raffinerie, dont la monumentale présence domine l’horizon... bientôt destinée à disparaître.
Tour à tour considérée comme un symbole de la modernité ou comme une nuisance, cette usine a été un pilier de notre prospérité. À la fois inquiétante et esthétique, fruit du génie de notre civilisation, elle aurait pu, dans un futur lointain, revêtir le statut de monument historique, suscitant la curiosité tel un vestige antique ou médiéval. Cependant, il n’en sera rien ; les temps évoluent, elle s’éclipse, emportant avec elle le souvenir de ceux qui y ont laborieusement travaillé, certains avec une passion dévouée.
Face à cet événement, deux photographes, un architecte et un couple d’artistes ont souhaité en préserver la mémoire. Si cette démarche relève du documentaire, elle ne s’y limite pas. Un tel décor offre une diversité d’approches considérable ; il incite à s’interroger sur les bouleversements à venir ou simplement à apprécier la beauté et l’esthétique du lieu.
Un projet de cette envergure se doit d’être partagé, particulièrement auprès de la population locale, habituée à vivre, travailler et observer quotidiennement la transformation de son paysage. La Galerie du Crochetan représente l’espace idéal pour cette initiative, en y exposant ces images afin de les dévoiler au public et lui offrir un regard intime sur l’intérieur de cette « forteresse » industrielle.
Alle soglie del terzo millennio, il nostro mondo sta affrontando cambiamenti di portata insospettabile. Questi cambiamenti si stanno manifestando alle nostre porte, nel paesaggio che ci circonda, fino alla pianura in cui viviamo. Al centro si trova una raffineria, la cui presenza monumentale domina l'orizzonte... presto scomparirà.
Considerata alternativamente un simbolo di modernità o un fastidio, questa pianta è stata un pilastro della nostra prosperità. Inquietante ed estetica al tempo stesso, frutto del genio della nostra civiltà, avrebbe potuto assumere, in un lontano futuro, lo status di monumento storico, suscitando curiosità come una reliquia antica o medievale. Ma non è stato così: i tempi sono cambiati ed è scomparso, portando con sé la memoria di coloro che vi hanno lavorato con tanta fatica, alcuni con tanta passione.
Di fronte a questo evento, due fotografi, un architetto e una coppia di artisti hanno voluto preservarne la memoria. Il loro approccio, pur essendo di natura documentaristica, non si limita a questo. Un'ambientazione di questo tipo offre una notevole diversità di approcci; ci spinge a interrogarci sugli sconvolgimenti futuri o semplicemente ad apprezzare la bellezza e l'estetica del luogo.
Un progetto di questa portata deve essere condiviso, soprattutto con la popolazione locale, abituata a vivere, lavorare e osservare quotidianamente la trasformazione del proprio paesaggio. La Galerie du Crochetan è la sede ideale per questa iniziativa, in quanto espone queste immagini al pubblico e offre uno sguardo intimo all'interno di questa "fortezza" industriale.
On the threshold of the third millennium, our world is facing changes on an unimaginable scale. These transformations are manifesting themselves on our doorstep, in the landscape that surrounds us, right down to the plain where we live. At its center stands a refinery, its monumental presence dominating the horizon... soon to disappear.
Alternately considered a symbol of modernity or a nuisance, this plant has been a pillar of our prosperity. At once disquieting and aesthetic, the fruit of the genius of our civilization, it could, in the distant future, have assumed the status of a historic monument, arousing curiosity like an ancient or medieval relic. Times change, it disappears, taking with it the memory of those who worked so laboriously on it, some with devoted passion.
Faced with this event, two photographers, an architect and a couple of artists set out to preserve its memory. While their approach is documentary in nature, it's not limited to that. Such a setting offers a considerable diversity of approaches; it encourages us to wonder about the upheavals to come, or simply to appreciate the beauty and aesthetics of the place.
A project of this scale needs to be shared, particularly with the local population, who are used to living, working and observing the transformation of their landscape on a daily basis. The Galerie du Crochetan is the ideal venue for this initiative, displaying these images for public viewing and offering an intimate look inside this industrial "fortress".
