"Promise me a Land" ist ein persönliches Zeugnis, das einen neuen Blick auf das israelisch-palästinensische Mosaik und seine Wurzeln wirft und sich mit dem Begriff des Territoriums auseinandersetzt.
Nach 70 Jahren Konflikt und mehr als einem Jahrhundert erzwungener oder gewollter Koexistenz fühlen sich die Menschen, die auf dem Gebiet Israel/Palästina leben, noch stärker mit diesem verbunden. Welche Spuren hat dieses Land in ihrer Identität hinterlassen? Welche Hoffnung, welche Vorstellungswelt, welches Versprechen? Mit "Promise me a Land" legt Clément Chapillon eine fotografische Erzählung vor, die diese Verbundenheit fernab von Klischees und Ideologien erforscht. Eine sensible dokumentarische Arbeit, die durch eine subtile Anordnung von Worten, Porträts und Landschaften die Individualität in den Mittelpunkt seiner Erzählung stellt.
"Israel/Palästina: Zwei Völker für ein Land. Clément Chapillon hatte den Mut und die Kraft, diese Formel, die von den politischen Herausforderungen missbraucht und bis auf die Knochen abgenutzt wurde, ernst zu nehmen, indem er uns auf das Wesentliche zurückführte: das Land. In einer schillernden Fotoreportage zeigt er uns, wie alle, die dort leben - jüdische und arabische Israelis, Palästinenser und Drusen - ihre Kraft daraus schöpfen. Seine Fotos, die vor allem eine große metaphysische Tiefe aufweisen, lassen uns in dieses Gebiet eindringen, das seine eigene Seele hat. Eine Seele, die in seine trockenen Hügel, seine leuchtenden Wüsten, seine Salz-, Meeres- oder Seewasserflächen und vor allem in seine Täler eingeschrieben ist, in denen jahrtausendealte Sträucher als stumme Zeugen einer vormenschlichen Essenz aufragen. Eine farbige Seele, die sich in diesem weißen Stein, dem blauen Himmel, der strahlenden Sonne und der ockerfarbenen Erde ablesen lässt. Diese Erde ist auch ein Palimpsest aller Zivilisationen, die sie bevölkert haben, und aller Kriege, die sie durchzogen haben. Sie trägt die Stigmata der Zeit, der Epochen und der Zyklen, die einander ablösen, in sich".
« Promise me a Land » est un témoignage personnel qui pose un nouveau regard sur la mosaïque Israélo-Palestinienne et ses racines, investissant la notion de territoire.
Après 70 ans de conflits et plus d’un siècle de coexistence forcée ou voulue, ceux qui vivent sur le territoire Israël/Palestine sont encore davantage attachés à lui. Quelle empreinte cette terre a-t-elle laissée sur leur identité ? Quel espoir, quel imaginaire, quelle promesse ? Avec « Promise me a Land », Clément Chapillon propose un récit photographique qui explore cet attachement, loin des clichés et des idéologies. Un travail documentaire sensible qui place les individualités au coeur de sa narration grâce à un subtil agencement de mots, portraits et paysages.

Cette formule, malmenée par les enjeux politiques et usée à l’os, Clément Chapillon a eu le courage et la force de la prendre au sérieux en nous ramenant à son essentiel : la terre. Dopo 70 anni di conflitto e più di un secolo di coesistenza forzata o voluta, coloro che vivono nella terra di Israele/Palestina vi sono ancora più legati. Quale impronta ha lasciato questa terra sulla loro identità? Quale speranza, quale immaginazione, quale promessa? Con "Promettimi una terra", Clément Chapillon offre una narrazione fotografica che esplora questo attaccamento, lontano da cliché e ideologie. È un documentario sensibile che pone gli individui al centro della sua narrazione attraverso una sottile combinazione di parole, ritratti e paesaggi.
