Maya Rochat erstellt visuelle Montagen mit hochgesättigten Farben, in denen Naturmotive und abstrakte Malerei verschmelzen. Ihre Fotografien von Pflanzen, Felsen oder Flüssen dienen ihr als Ausgangspunkt für ihre Experimente. Sie überlagert die Bilder, verändert sie digital oder physisch und vervielfacht ihren Gebrauch und ihre Bedeutung, indem sie mit Transparenz, Texturen und Farben spielt. Ob Künstlerbücher, Drucke oder Leuchtkästen, ihre medienübergreifenden Werke gehen auch über den Rahmen hinaus, um sich in Form von immersiven Installationen und Videoprojektionen im Raum zu entfalten.
Maya Rochat lässt sich von der Natur und ihren verschiedenen Formen und Maßstäben inspirieren und stellt eine poetische Reflexion über die Schönheit der uns umgebenden Welt, ihre Materie und ihre Transformation an. Sie hinterfragt auch den Platz, den der Mensch darin einnimmt, indem sie nicht nur die chemische, sondern auch die visuelle Verschmutzung heraufbeschwört, die durch den ständigen Strom digitaler Bilder erzeugt wird. Die Künstlerin lädt das Publikum ein, in eine Traumwelt einzutreten, die eine sensible Alternative zu den Darstellungen einer krisengeschüttelten Welt bietet, die sie neu zu verzaubern versucht.
Die Ausstellung blickt auf zwölf Jahre des künstlerischen Werdegangs von Maya Rochat zurück, von ihren ersten Arbeiten aus den 2010er Jahren bis zu ihrem jüngsten Projekt, "Poetry of the Earth" (2022). Sie bietet eine visuelle und sensorische Reise durch ein transdisziplinäres Werk, in dem das fotografische Bild und das Video einen wesentlichen Platz einnehmen.
Maya Rochat réalise des montages visuels aux couleurs hautement saturées dans lesquels fusionnent motifs naturels et peinture abstraite. Ses photographies de végétaux, de roches ou de rivières servent de point de départ à son expérimentation. Elle procède à une superposition d’images, les altère numériquement ou physiquement et en décuple l’usage et le sens en jouant sur la transparence, les textures et les couleurs. Livres d’artiste, tirages ou encore caissons lumineux, ses œuvres multi-supports dépassent aussi le cadre pour se déployer dans l’espace sous forme d’installations immersives et projections vidéo.
Inspirée par la nature et ses différentes formes et échelles, Maya Rochat engage une réflexion poétique sur la beauté du monde environnant, sa matière et sa transformation. Elle interroge aussi la place que l’humain y occupe en évoquant la pollution non seulement chimique, mais aussi visuelle, générée par le flux continu des images digitales. L’artiste invite le public à pénétrer dans un univers onirique qui offre une alternative sensible aux représentations d’un monde en crise, qu’elle cherche à ré-enchanter.
L’exposition revient sur douze ans du parcours artistique de Maya Rochat, depuis ses premiers travaux des années 2010 jusqu’à son projet le plus récent, « Poetry of the Earth » (2022). Elle propose un voyage visuel et sensoriel à travers une œuvre transdisciplinaire, dans laquelle l’image photographique et la vidéo occupent une place essentielle.
Maya Rochat crea montaggi visivi con colori altamente saturi in cui si fondono motivi naturali e dipinti astratti. Le sue fotografie di piante, rocce o fiumi servono come punto di partenza per la sua sperimentazione. Sovrappone le immagini, le altera digitalmente o fisicamente e ne moltiplica l'uso e il significato giocando con la trasparenza, le texture e i colori. Le sue opere multimediali, che siano libri d'artista, stampe o light box, superano anche la cornice per essere dispiegate nello spazio sotto forma di installazioni immersive e proiezioni video.
Ispirata dalla natura e dalle sue diverse forme e scale, Maya Rochat si impegna in una riflessione poetica sulla bellezza del mondo circostante, sulla sua materia e sulla sua trasformazione. Si interroga anche sul posto che gli esseri umani occupano in esso, evocando l'inquinamento, non solo chimico, ma anche visivo, generato dal continuo flusso di immagini digitali. L'artista invita il pubblico a entrare in un universo onirico che offre un'alternativa sensibile alle rappresentazioni di un mondo in crisi, che lei cerca di ri-incantare.
La mostra ripercorre dodici anni di carriera artistica di Maya Rochat, dalle prime opere degli anni 2010 al progetto più recente, "Poetry of the Earth" (2022). Offre un viaggio visivo e sensoriale attraverso un corpus di opere transdisciplinari in cui l'immagine fotografica e il video giocano un ruolo essenziale.
Maya Rochat creates visual montages in highly saturated colours combining natural motifs and abstract painting. Her photographs of plants, rocks and rivers provide a basis for her experimentation. She layers images, digitally or physically altering them and amplifying their use and meaning by playing with transparency, texture and colour. From artists’ books and prints to light boxes, her multimedia works also extend beyond the frame into the surrounding space in the form of immersive installations and video projections.
Inspired by nature in its varying forms and scales, Maya Rochat engages in a poetic reflection on the beauty of the world around us, its substance and transformation. She also examines the place that humans occupy within it by evoking pollution – chemical, as well as visual – through the endless flow of digital images. The artist invites visitors to enter her dreamlike universe that offers an appreciable alternative to representations of a world in crisis, which she seeks to enchant anew.
The exhibition traces 12 years of Maya Rochat’s artistic career, from her first works of the 2010s to her most recent project, “Poetry of the Earth” (2022). She leads us on a visual and sensorial journey through her transdisciplinary work, in which the photographic image and video take centre stage.
