Intesa Sanpaolo organisiert in der Gallerie d'Italia - Turin vom 9. Februar 2023 bis zum 16. Juli 2023 die erste italienische Einzelausstellung von JR, dem französischen Künstler, der weltweit für seine Projekte bekannt ist, die Fotografie, öffentliche Kunst und soziales Engagement miteinander verbinden.
JR (1983) kombiniert verschiedene Ausdrucksformen und wird in der Ausstellung, die in Zusammenarbeit mit der Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo realisiert und von Arturo Galansino kuratiert wird, etwa 4000 Quadratmeter des Museums an der Piazza San Carlo einnehmen. Er bringt sein Gespür dafür ein, die Realität zu erzählen und Überlegungen zur sozialen Fragilität anzuregen.
Ausgehend von der Pariser Banlieue vor mehr als zwanzig Jahren hat JR seine Kunst in die ganze Welt getragen, mit monumentalen Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum, die in der Lage sind, mit einer großen Anzahl von Menschen zu interagieren und ganze Gemeinschaften zu aktivieren, von den brasilianischen Favelas bis zu einem Hochsicherheitsgefängnis in Kalifornien, von der Louvre-Pyramide bis zu den ägyptischen Pyramiden, von der Grenze zwischen Israel und Palästina bis zu der zwischen Mexiko und den Vereinigten Staaten.
Die Probleme von Migranten und Flüchtlingen, die immer mehr an Aktualität gewinnen, sind seit langem Teil der Untersuchungen von JR. Mit Déplacé∙e∙s Projekt, das 2022 begann und in dieser Ausstellung zum ersten Mal präsentiert wird, ist der Künstler in Krisengebiete gereist, von der kriegsgebeutelten Ukraine über die ausgelöschten Flüchtlingslager von Mugombwa in Ruanda und Mbera in Mauretanien bis hin zu Cùcuta in Kolumbien und Lesbos in Griechenland, um über die schwierigen Bedingungen nachzudenken, in denen sich Tausende von Menschen heute aufgrund von Konflikten, Kriegen, Hungersnöten und Klimawandel befinden, und um die vom Kunst- und Kulturbetrieb ausgeschlossenen Bevölkerungsgruppen unter dem Banner von Werten wie Freiheit, Fantasie, Kreativität und Partizipation einzubeziehen.
Obwohl sie vergänglich ist, hat die Kunst von JR Auswirkungen auf die Gesellschaft und die Welt, in der wir leben. Sie ist für Menschen gemacht und wird mit Menschen gemacht, wobei sie die Bedeutung unserer individuellen und kollektiven Rolle bei der Verbesserung der Gegenwart aufzeigt und versucht, eine zentrale Frage für den Künstler zu beantworten: Kann Kunst die Welt verändern?
Intesa Sanpaolo organise à la Gallerie d'Italia - Turin du 9 février 2023 au 16 juillet 2023 la première exposition personnelle italienne de JR, l'artiste français célèbre dans le monde entier pour ses projets qui allient photographie, art public et engagement social.
Combinant différents langages expressifs, JR (1983) apportera à l'exposition qui occupera environ 4000 mètres carrés du musée de Piazza San Carlo, réalisée en collaboration avec la Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo et dont le commissaire est Arturo Galansino, sa touche pour raconter la réalité et stimuler les réflexions sur la fragilité sociale.
Parti du banlieu parisien il y a plus de vingt ans, JR a promené son art dans le monde entier avec des interventions d'art public monumentales capables d'interagir avec un grand nombre de personnes et d'activer des communautés entières, des favelas brésiliennes à une prison de haute sécurité en Californie, de la pyramide du Louvre aux pyramides égyptiennes, de la frontière entre Israël et la Palestine à celle entre le Mexique et les États-Unis.
Les problèmes des migrants et des réfugiés, qui sont des sujets de plus en plus brûlants, font depuis longtemps partie de l'enquête de JR. Avec le projet Déplacé∙e∙s, qui a débuté en 2022 et est présenté pour la première fois dans cette exposition, l'artiste a voyagé dans des zones de crise, de l'Ukraine déchirée par la guerre aux camps de réfugiés exterminés de Mugombwa au Rwanda et Mbera en Mauritanie, Cùcuta en Colombie et Lesbos.... en Grèce pour réfléchir aux conditions difficiles dans lesquelles se trouvent aujourd'hui des milliers de personnes en raison des conflits, des guerres, de la famine et du changement climatique, et pour impliquer les publics exclus du circuit artistique et culturel sous la bannière de valeurs telles que la liberté, l'imagination, la créativité et la participation.
Bien qu'éphémère, l'art de JR a un impact sur la société et le monde dans lequel nous vivons. Il est fait pour les gens et est fait avec les gens, révélant l'importance de notre rôle individuel et collectif dans l'amélioration du présent et tentant de répondre à une question centrale pour l'artiste : l'art peut-il changer le monde ?

Combinando diversi linguaggi espressivi JR (1983) porterà nell’esposizione che occuperà circa 4000 mq del museo di Piazza San Carlo, realizzata in collaborazione con la Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo e curata da Arturo Galansino, il suo tocco per raccontare la realtà e stimolare riflessioni sulle fragilità sociali.
Partito dalla banlieu parigina più di vent’anni fa, JR ha portato la sua arte in tutto il mondo con monumentali interventi di arte pubblica in grado di interagire con grandi numeri di persone e attivare intere comunità, dalle favelas brasiliane ad una prigione di massima sicurezza in California, dalla Pyramide del Louvre alle piramidi egiziane, dal confine tra Israele e Palestina a quello tra Messico e Stati Uniti.
I problemi dei migranti e dei rifugiati, sempre più di scottante attualità, fanno da molto tempo parte dell’indagine di JR. Con il progetto Déplacé∙e∙s, cominciato nel 2022 e presentato per la prima volta in questa mostra, l’artista ha viaggiato in zone di crisi, dall’Ucraina sconvolta dalla guerra fino agli sterminati campi profughi di Mugombwa, in Rwanda, e di Mbera, in Mauritania, Cùcuta in Colombia e a Lesbo, in Grecia per riflettere sulle difficili condizioni in cui oggi versano migliaia di persone a causa di conflitti, guerre, carestie, cambiamenti climatici e coinvolgere pubblici esclusi dal circuito artistico e culturale all’insegna di valori come libertà, immaginazione, creatività e partecipazione.
Seppur effimera l’arte di JR crea un impatto sulla società e sul mondo in cui viviamo. Essa è realizzata per le persone e si realizza con le persone, rivelando l’importanza del nostro ruolo individuale e collettivo per migliorare il presente e per cercare di rispondere ad un quesito centrale per l’artista: l’arte può cambiare il mondo?
Gallerie d'Italia opens to the public in the Intesa Sanpaolo museum in Turin the first solo exhibition in Italy of JR, a French artist famous throughout the world for his projects that combine photography, public art and social commitment, scheduled from 9 February to 16 July 2023.
Combining diverse expressive languages, JR (1983) will bring his personal touch in recounting reality and stimulating reflections on social fragility to the exhibition, which will occupy around 4,000 square metres of the museum in Piazza San Carlo, staged in collaboration with the Compagnia di San Paolo and curated by Arturo Galansino.
Having set out from the Parisian banlieues more than 20 years ago, JR has taken his art all around the world, with monumental public art interventions capable of interacting with large numbers of people and activating entire communities, from the Brazilian favelas to a high-security prison in California, from the Pyramid at the Louvre to the Egyptian pyramids, from the border between Israel and Palestine to that between Mexico and the United States.
The problems of migrants and refugees, which are becoming increasingly hot topics, have long been part of JR's investigation. With the Déplacé∙e∙s project, launched in 2022 and presented for the first time in this exhibition, the artist has travelled to crisis zones ranging from war-torn Ukraine to the refugee camps of Mugombwa, Rwanda, Mbera, in Mauritania, Cucuta in Colombia, and Lesvos, in Greece to reflect on the harsh conditions in which thousands of people find themselves today due to conflicts, wars, famine and climate change, and to engage audiences excluded from the artistic and cultural circuit in the name of values such as freedom, imagination, creativity and participation.While ephemeral, JR's art creates an impact on society and the world we live in. It is made for people and with people, revealing the importance of our individual and collective role in improving the present and trying to answer a question which is crucial to the artist: can art change the world?
