Die Ausstellung zeichnet das Leben und Werk von June Newton anhand von 40 Schwarz-Weiß-Porträtfotografien nach, die von 1947 bis in die 1980er Jahre entstanden sind.
Als Porträtfotografin von Berühmtheiten war Alice Springs für ihre Fähigkeit bekannt, die Seele ihrer Modelle zu erfassen, und lieferte Porträts von seltener Intensität, von denen einige heute ikonisch sind. Die Ausstellung umfasst Filmstars wie Isabelle Adjani, Fassbinders Muse Hanna Schygulla und die kürzlich verstorbene Raquel Welsh, Persönlichkeiten aus der Modewelt wie Sonia Rykiel und Karl Lagerfeld, berühmte Fotografen (Robert Mapplethorpe, David Bailey, Deborah Turbeville) und bildende Künstler wie Niki de Saint-Phalle, Roy Lichtenstein und Gérard Garouste.
Die Ausstellung umfasst auch eine Reihe von Kreuzporträts von Helmut und June, die uns in die Intimität des Ehepaars Newton eintauchen lassen und die Verbundenheit und Komplizenschaft zwischen den beiden Fotografen offenbaren. Wir entdecken auch Bilder von June aus den 40er und 50er Jahren, als sie noch Schauspielerin war.
Die Helmut Newton Foundation, die den künstlerischen Nachlass des Ehepaars Newton verwaltet, wird Alice Springs ebenfalls mit einer großen retrospektiven Ausstellung im Juni dieses Jahres ehren.
L’exposition retrace la vie et l’œuvre de June Newton, à travers une quarantaine de portraits photographiques vintage noir et blanc, des tirages uniques datant de 1947 aux années 80.
Portraitiste des célébrités, Alice Springs était reconnue pour sa capacité à saisir l’âme de ses modèles, livrant des portraits d’une rare intensité, dont certains sont aujourd’hui iconiques. On retrouve dans l’exposition des stars de cinéma, parmi lesquelles Isabelle Adjani, Hanna Schygulla, égérie de Fassbinder, ou encore Raquel Welsh, récemment disparue ; des personnalités du monde de la mode comme Sonia Rykiel et Karl Lagerfeld ; de grands photographes (Robert Mapplethorpe, David Bailey, Deborah Turbeville), mais aussi des artistes plasticiens à l’instar de Niki de Saint-Phalle, Roy Lichtenstein ou Gérard Garouste.
L’exposition comprend également une série de portraits croisés d’Helmut et June qui nous plongent dans l’intimité du couple Newton, révélant l’attachement et la complicité qui unissait les deux photographes. On découvre aussi des images de June remontant aux années 40/50, à l’époque où elle était actrice.
La Fondation Helmut Newton, qui gère l'héritage artistique du couple Newton, rendra également hommage à Alice Springs en lui consacrant une grande exposition rétrospective en juin prochain.
La mostra ripercorre la vita e il lavoro di June Newton attraverso quaranta ritratti fotografici vintage in bianco e nero, stampe uniche che vanno dal 1947 agli anni Ottanta.

La mostra comprende star del cinema come Isabelle Adjani, Hanna Schygulla, musa di Fassbinder, e la recentemente scomparsa Raquel Welsh; personalità della moda come Sonia Rykiel e Karl Lagerfeld; importanti fotografi (Robert Mapplethorpe, David Bailey, Deborah Turbeville); e artisti visivi come Niki de Saint-Phalle, Roy Lichtenstein e Gerard Garouste.
La mostra comprende anche una serie di ritratti incrociati di Helmut e June che ci immergono nell'intimità della coppia Newton, rivelando l'attaccamento e la complicità che univa i due fotografi. Scopriamo anche immagini di June degli anni '40 e '50, quando era un'attrice.
Anche la Helmut Newton Foundation, che gestisce l'eredità artistica dei coniugi Newton, renderà omaggio ad Alice Springs con una grande mostra retrospettiva a giugno.
The exhibition traces the life and work of June Newton through forty vintage black and white photographic portraits, unique prints dating from 1947 to the 1980s.
A celebrity portraitist, Alice Springs was known for her ability to capture the soul of her models, delivering portraits of rare intensity, some of which are now iconic. The exhibition includes film stars such as Isabelle Adjani, Hanna Schygulla, the muse of Fassbinder, and the recently deceased Raquel Welsh; personalities from the world of fashion such as Sonia Rykiel and Karl Lagerfeld; great photographers (Robert Mapplethorpe, David Bailey, Deborah Turbeville); and visual artists such as Niki de Saint-Phalle, Roy Lichtenstein, and Gerard Garouste.
The exhibition also includes a series of crossed portraits of Helmut and June which plunge us into the intimacy of the Newton couple, revealing the attachment and complicity that united the two photographers. We also discover images of June from the 40s/50s, when she was an actress.
The Helmut Newton Foundation, which manages the artistic legacy of the Newton couple, will also pay tribute to Alice Springs by dedicating a major retrospective exhibition to her next June.
