Die Ausstellung Friction eröffnet uns das Universum der holländischen Künstlerin, das durch eine emotionale und zugleich minimalistische Bildsprache geprägt wird. Lansink beherrscht den Umgang mit verschiedenen analogen Drucktechniken meisterhaft und wurde dafür 2019 mit dem prestigeträchtigen japanischen «Hariban Award» ausgezeichnet.
Ihre neuste Serie Friction thematisiert die unaufhaltsamen Veränderungen und die Unbeständigkeit, die jedem Leben innewohnen. In jeder Unvollkommenheit steckt Schönheit; das möchte uns die Künstlerin mit ihrer Arbeit vermitteln.
Sie hat dazu professionelle Balletttänzerinnen fotografiert, die im Alter von 35 Jahren bereits in den Ruhestand treten müssen. Den Bewegungsstudien der erfahrenen Tänzerinnen stellt sie Fotografien aus dem Death Valley gegenüber, einer über Millionen von Jahren entstandenen Landschaft.
Die gleichzeitige Eröffnung von Margaret Lansinks Einzelpräsentation im Showroom und der Gruppenausstellung Coming to Light in der Bildhalle ist nicht zufällig gewählt: Die Drucktechnik, die Wahl des Papiers und ein tiefes Verständnis für die Bedeutung des Handwerks prägen die Werke aller Künstler:innen inhaltlich und atmosphärisch. Die Art und Weise, wie geprintet wird, ist weniger eine technische Entscheidung, sondern vielmehr zentraler Bestandteil des Kunstwerks.
L'exposition Friction nous ouvre l'univers de l'artiste hollandais, caractérisé par un langage visuel à la fois émotionnel et minimaliste. Lansink maîtrise avec brio l'utilisation de différentes techniques d'impression analogiques, ce qui lui a valu de recevoir le prestigieux prix japonais "Hariban Award" en 2019.
Sa dernière série, Friction, a pour thème les changements inéluctables et l'instabilité inhérents à toute vie. Toute imperfection recèle de la beauté ; c'est ce que l'artiste souhaite nous transmettre par son travail.
Pour ce faire, elle a photographié des danseuses de ballet professionnelles qui, à l'âge de 35 ans, doivent déjà prendre leur retraite. Aux études de mouvements de ces danseuses expérimentées, elle oppose des photographies de la Death Valley, un paysage qui s'est formé au cours de millions d'années.
L'ouverture simultanée de la présentation individuelle de Margaret Lansink dans le showroom et de l'exposition de groupe Coming to Light dans la Bildhalle n'a pas été choisie au hasard : La technique d'impression, le choix du papier et une profonde compréhension de l'importance de l'artisanat marquent les œuvres de tous les artistes, tant au niveau du contenu que de l'atmosphère. La manière dont l'impression est réalisée est moins une décision technique qu'un élément central de l'œuvre d'art.
La mostra Friction apre l'universo dell'artista olandese, caratterizzato da un linguaggio visivo emozionale e allo stesso tempo minimalista. Lansink padroneggia l'uso di varie tecniche di stampa analogica e nel 2019 ha ricevuto il prestigioso premio giapponese "Hariban Award".
La sua ultima serie, Friction, affronta gli inesorabili cambiamenti e l'impermanenza insiti in tutta la vita. C'è bellezza in ogni imperfezione: è questo che l'artista vuole trasmetterci con il suo lavoro.
Ha fotografato ballerini professionisti che devono ritirarsi all'età di 35 anni. L'artista accosta gli studi sul movimento di questi ballerini esperti alle fotografie della Valle della Morte, un paesaggio che si è evoluto nel corso di milioni di anni.
L'apertura simultanea della presentazione personale di Margaret Lansink nella Showroom e della mostra collettiva Coming to Light nella Bildhalle non è casuale: La tecnica di stampa, la scelta della carta e la profonda comprensione dell'importanza del mestiere modellano le opere di tutti gli artisti in termini di contenuto e atmosfera. Il modo in cui viene eseguita la stampa non è tanto una decisione tecnica quanto una componente centrale dell'opera d'arte.
In this exhibition, the artist combines her latest series Friction with previous works, creating a visual universe that illustrates her masterful handling of varied techniques like platinum palladium prints, collages, liquid light prints and works with gold leaf and charcoal.
Friction embraces the unavoidable changes and impermanence of life as such. Accepting that life is not perfect, that there is beauty in imperfection and to embrace the concept that in all of life’s challenges, beauty is to be found. The artist portrayed professional ballet dancers who had to retire at the age of 35 and connected them to pictures of Death Valley in California emblematic for its timeless beauty.
Lansink’s work is created around a strong signature of aesthetic, poetic and minimalistic images yet able to convey a powerful emotional message. Substantiated by her intuitive photography; creating imagery that presents an open and honest reflection of her own emotions, doubts, or struggles in life.
In this way, she gently invites the viewer to embark on a journey through his/her own intricate web of memories and emotions.
Thematically, there is a strong connection between Margaret Lansinks solo presentation in the Showroom and the group exhibition Coming to Light at Bildhalle: the print techniques, the choice of paper and a deep understanding of craftsmanship influence the works of all artists in terms of content and atmosphere. The way they print is not just a technical approach, but rather a part of the artwork itself.
Margaret Lansink, winner of the “Hariban award” 2019, participated in exhibitions, residencies, and competitions in The Netherlands and abroad, including the USA, France, Japan, and Georgia. She has published eight books (four of them handmade by herself). “The Kindness of One” has been awarded with Best Dutch Book Designs 2019 and is part of the collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. This book and the book “Borders of Nothingness – On the Mend” are part of the collection of Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
