Ute Behrend aus Köln arbeitet seit Jahren mit Fotoserien zum Thema Gender. Ihr Buch „Bärenmädchen“ wurde mit zahlreichen internationalen Preisen ausgezeichnet. In. Bielefeld zeigt sie Arbeiten aus ihrer Serie „Cowboys“. Die in den USA, Spanien, Deutschland, Belgien und Polen entstandene Fotoserie zeigt den archetypischen Männermythos als internationales Phänomen und Projektionsfigur, die ungeachtet ihrer historisch kurzen Bedeutung eine weitreichende Faszination ausübt.
Allison Plass aus New York zeigt eine Bildprojektion aus ihrem Langzeitprojekt „Hold me Tight“ . Ihre an griechische Mythologien von Männlichkeit angelehnten Fotografien entstehen in enger Zusammenarbeit mit ihrem Mann und den heranwachsenden Söhnen. Die malerischen Bilder in der Natur thematisieren Gefühle wie Zärtlichkeit und Verletzlichkeit von Männern untereinander. Sie hinterfragen die in den USA, aber auch in Deutschland gängigen Männerbilder.
Ute Behrend ist eine deutsche Künstlerin, Verlegerin und Dozentin. Sie ist Mitbegründerin des Verlages BUMMBUMM BOOKS und und Mitglied im Präsidium der Deutschen Fotografischen Akademie. (DFA). Behrends Fotografien und Videoinstallationen wurden international ausgestellt und sind in vielen öffentlichen Sammlungen vertreten. Sie hat fünf Monographien veröffentlicht, das neueste Buch „Back to Nature“ wurde 2020 für den Merck-Preis nominiert.
Allison Plass lebt als künstlerische Fotografin in New York. Sie erhielt ihren MA in
Kunstgeschichte an der UC Santa Barbara, wo sie sich mit Fragen von Geschlecht und Repräsentation in der europäischen Kunst befasste. Im Jahr 2020 schloss sie das Advanced Track Programm am International Center of Photography in New York ab. Ihre Arbeiten wurden in einer Reihe von Ausstellungen und Wettbewerben in den USA, Europa und Australien ausgezeichnet, darunter die Shortlist des Lens Culture Portrait Awards 2023.
