Close Enough - 12 women photographers of Magnum

Close Enough untersucht die Praktiken von zwölf aufstrebenden oder etablierten Fotografinnen. Jede Fotografin erzählt sowohl von ihrer künstlerischen Praxis als auch von ihren Überlegungen zu langfristigen persönlichen Projekten, ihren laufenden Arbeiten oder neuen Wendepunkten in ihrem künstlerischen Prozess. In dieser Ausstellung drücken sie sich auf sehr persönliche Weise mit ihrer eigenen Bildsprache aus und schaffen so ein breites Spektrum an Ausdrucksformen der Kunst des Fotografierens.
Pünktlich zum 75. Jahrestag der Gründung der Agentur Magnum stellt Close Enough Fotografinnen in den Mittelpunkt, deren unterschiedliche Sichtweisen die (aktuellen) fotografischen Perspektiven innerhalb von Magnum prägen. Gemeinsam hinterfragen und erweitern sie die Grenzen der Agentur und stärken die Verankerung von Magnum in einem fotografischen Streben, das von menschlicher Erfahrung und menschlichem Überleben zeugt. Jede der teilnehmenden Fotografinnen erforscht auf ihre Weise das Recht auf Verewigung, ihre Distanz und ihre Beteiligung an ihren Themen und Erfahrungen - die Notwendigkeit, sich "close enough" (nah genug) zu nähern, wie es der Mitbegründer von Magnum, Robert Capa, wollte. Mit Entschlossenheit, Bedeutung und Einfallsreichtum berichtet jede der Fotografinnen über ihre künstlerische Praxis und lädt uns dazu ein, ihr näher zu kommen.
Close Enough explore les pratiques de douze femmes photographes, émergentes ou établies. Chaque photographe raconte tant sa pratique artistique que ses réflexions sur des projets personnels de longue haleine, ses travaux en cours ou de nouveaux tournants dans sa démarche artistique. Dans cette exposition, elles s’expriment de façon très personnelle avec leur langage visuel propre créant ainsi un large spectre d’expressions de l’art de photographier.
Coïncidant avec le 75ème anniversaire de la fondation de l’agence Magnum, Close Enough met en lumière des femmes photographes dont les différentes visions façonnent les perspectives photographiques (actuelles) au sein de Magnum. Ensemble, elles questionnent et repoussent les frontières de l’agence, renforçant l’ancrage de Magnum dans une quête photographique témoin de l’expérience et de la survie humaines. Chacune à leur manière, les photographes participantes explorent le droit d’immortaliser, leur distance et leur implication par rapport à leurs sujets et à leurs expériences – la nécessité de s’approcher « close enough » (assez proche) comme le souhaitait le cofondateur de Magnum, Robert Capa. Avec détermination, importance et ingéniosité, chacune des photographes rend compte de sa pratique artistique en nous invitant à nous en rapprocher.
Close Enough esplora le pratiche di dodici fotografe emergenti e affermate. Ciascuna fotografa racconta la propria pratica artistica e le proprie riflessioni su progetti personali a lungo termine, lavori in corso o nuove svolte nel proprio approccio artistico. In questa mostra si esprimono in modo molto personale, con il proprio linguaggio visivo, creando un ampio spettro di espressioni dell'arte fotografica.
In concomitanza con il 75° anniversario della fondazione dell'agenzia Magnum, Close Enough mette in luce le donne fotografe le cui diverse visioni danno forma alle (attuali) prospettive fotografiche all'interno di Magnum. Insieme, esse mettono in discussione e respingono i confini dell'agenzia, rafforzando le radici di Magnum nella ricerca fotografica per testimoniare l'esperienza e la sopravvivenza umana. Ognuna a modo suo, le fotografe partecipanti esplorano il diritto all'immortalità, la distanza e il coinvolgimento con i loro soggetti e le loro esperienze - la necessità di "avvicinarsi abbastanza", come intendeva il co-fondatore di Magnum Robert Capa. Con determinazione, importanza e ingegno, ognuna delle fotografe racconta la propria pratica artistica, invitandoci ad avvicinarci.
Close Enough explores the practices of twelve emerging and established women photographers. Each photographer talks about her artistic practice as well as her reflections on long-term personal projects, works in progress or new turning points in her artistic approach. In this exhibition, they express themselves in a highly personal way, with their own visual language, creating a broad spectrum of expressions of the art of photography.
Coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Magnum agency, Close Enough highlights women photographers whose different visions shape (current) photographic perspectives within Magnum. Together, they question and push back the agency's boundaries, reinforcing Magnum's roots in a photographic quest to bear witness to human experience and survival. Each in her own way, the participating photographers explore the right to immortalize, their distance from and involvement with their subjects and experiences - the need to get "close enough" as Magnum co-founder Robert Capa wished. With determination, importance and ingenuity, each of these photographers gives an account of her artistic practice, inviting us to get closer.
