Jede kulturelle Institution wird von einem Umfeld getragen. Mit dem Projekt «Bellpark Photomat» setzt Patrick Blank nun jene Personen rund ums Museum im Bellplark ins Bild, die sonst nicht sichtbar werden. Der Luzerner Künstler und Fotograf hat ein Konzept vorgeschlagen, das die Idee des Schnellphoto-Automaten des 20. Jahrhunderts auf eine Anwendung im Rahmen des Museums erlaubt. Der Fotograf übernimmt dabei die Aufgabe des Automaten, so dass das Fotografieren zur gemeinsamen Performance wird. Patrick Blank zeigt nun die seit 2021 entstandenen Porträts erstmals im Rahmen einer Ausstellung.
Der «Bellpark Photomat» ist aber nicht im eigentlichen Sinn ein Fotoautomat. Viel mehr wird die Bildsprache der damaligen Fotoautomaten zum künstlerischen Werkzeug. Dazu verwendet Blank eine Digitalkamera und Blitzlampen, einen knallroten Hocker, einen engen Bildausschnitt sowie ein einfaches gefaltetes Silberpapier als Hintergrund. Wie in den damaligen Automaten werden jedoch lediglich vier Momente (mit Ausnahmen…) mit der Kamera eingefangen, in denen die Freund*innen des Museums die Gelegenheit haben, sich selber zu inszenieren. Der Fotograf zählt in der Regel die vier Aufnahmen an, mit 3,2,1, … und hält beim Fotografien manchmal auch die Augen zu.
Der «Bellpark Photomat» kann als Weiterführung der fotografischen bzw. künstlerisch-performativen Auseinandersetzung Blanks mit der Sehnsucht und dem Träumerischen als Sujet sowie mit der Sehnsucht nach Begegnung im Besonderen gelesen werden. Als Vorarbeit dieser neusten Arbeit Blanks gehört die Jook Box (Jukebox, 2021), die ebenfalls in der Ausstellung zu sehen sein wird.

Patrick Blank (*1970) ist ein Künstler, Fotograf, Kunsthistoriker und Historiker aus Luzern. Er studierte an der Universität Zürich und Universität Luzern die Geschichte der Kunst mit Schwerpunkt Fotografie. Von 2019 bis 2022 absolvierte er an der Hochschule Luzern – Design & Kunst das Studium Master Kunst in Public Spheres. Er gestaltete mit Mischa Christen im 041 – Das Kulturmagazin die Fotokolumne Doppelter Fokus.
Chaque institution culturelle est soutenue par un environnement. Avec le projet "Bellpark Photomat", Patrick Blank met désormais en visuel les personnes qui entourent le musée dans le Bellplark et qui ne sont pas visibles autrement. L'artiste et photographe lucernois a proposé un concept qui permet de transposer l'idée du photomaton rapide du 20e siècle à une application dans le cadre du musée. Le photographe assume alors la tâche de l'automate, de sorte que la prise de vue devient une performance commune. Patrick Blank présente maintenant les portraits réalisés depuis 2021 pour la première fois dans le cadre d'une exposition.
Le "Bellpark Photomat" n'est toutefois pas un photomaton au sens propre du terme. C'est plutôt le langage visuel des photomatons de l'époque qui devient un outil artistique. Pour ce faire, Blank utilise un appareil photo numérique et des lampes flash, un tabouret rouge vif, un cadrage serré ainsi qu'un simple papier argenté plié comme arrière-plan. Cependant, comme dans les automates de l'époque, seuls quatre moments (avec des exceptions...) sont capturés avec l'appareil photo, pendant lesquels les amis* du musée ont l'occasion de se mettre en scène eux-mêmes. En règle générale, le photographe compte les quatre prises de vue, avec 3,2,1, ... et ferme parfois les yeux en prenant la photo.
Le "Bellpark Photomat" peut être lu comme la poursuite de la réflexion photographique ou artistique et performative de Blank sur la nostalgie et la rêverie en tant que sujet, ainsi que sur la nostalgie de la rencontre en particulier. Le Jook Box (Jukebox, 2021), qui sera également présenté dans l'exposition, fait partie des travaux préparatoires de ce dernier travail de Blank.
Une publication paraîtra à l'occasion de l'exposition.
Patrick Blank (*1970) est un artiste, photographe, historien de l'art et historien de Lucerne. Il a conçu avec Mischa Christen la rubrique photographique Doppelter Fokus dans le magazine 041 - Das Kulturmagazin.
Ogni istituzione culturale è sostenuta dal suo ambiente. Con il progetto "Bellpark Photomat", Patrick Blank mette in scena le persone che circondano il museo di Bellplark e che altrimenti non sarebbero visibili. L'artista e fotografo lucernese ha proposto un concetto che consente di applicare l'idea del rapido automatismo fotografico del XX secolo al contesto del museo. Il fotografo assume il compito dell'automa, in modo che scattare fotografie diventi una performance comune. Patrick Blank presenta per la prima volta in una mostra i ritratti realizzati a partire dal 2021.
Tuttavia, il "Bellpark Photomat" non è una cabina fotografica nel vero senso della parola. Piuttosto, il linguaggio visivo delle macchine fotografiche dell'epoca diventa uno strumento artistico. A tal fine, Blank utilizza una macchina fotografica digitale e delle lampadine flash, uno sgabello rosso brillante, una cornice stretta e della semplice carta argentata piegata come sfondo. Come negli automi dell'epoca, però, con la macchina fotografica vengono catturati solo quattro momenti (salvo eccezioni...), in cui gli amici del museo hanno la possibilità di mettersi in scena. Il fotografo è solito contare i quattro scatti, con 3,2,1, ... e talvolta tiene gli occhi chiusi mentre scatta la foto.
Il "Bellpark Photomat" può essere letto come una continuazione dell'esplorazione fotografica o artistico-performativa di Blank del desiderio e dell'onirico come soggetto e del desiderio di incontro in particolare. Come lavoro preparatorio per quest'ultima opera di Blank c'è Jook Box (Jukebox, 2021), che sarà anch'esso esposto in mostra.

Patrick Blank (*1970) è un artista, fotografo, storico dell'arte e storico di Lucerna. Ha studiato storia dell'arte con particolare attenzione alla fotografia presso l'Università di Zurigo e l'Università di Lucerna. Dal 2019 al 2022 si è laureato presso l'Università di Scienze Applicate e Arti di Lucerna con un Master in Arte nelle sfere pubbliche. Ha ideato la rubrica fotografica Doppelter Fokus con Mischa Christen in 041 - Das Kulturmagazin.
Every cultural institution is supported by its environment. With the project "Bellpark Photomat" Patrick Blank now puts those people around the museum in Bellplark into the picture, who otherwise do not become visible. The Lucerne artist and photographer has proposed a concept that allows the idea of the 20th century quick photo automat to be applied in the context of the museum. The photographer takes over the task of the automaton, so that the photographing becomes a common performance. Patrick Blank now shows the portraits created since 2021 for the first time in the context of an exhibition.
The "Bellpark Photomat" is not, however, a photo booth in the true sense of the word. Rather, the visual language of the photo machines of the time becomes an artistic tool. To this end, Blank uses a digital camera and flash bulbs, a bright red stool, a narrow image frame, and simple folded silver paper as a background. As in the automata of the time, however, only four moments (with exceptions...) are captured on camera, in which the museum's friends* have the opportunity to stage themselves. The photographer usually counts up the four takes, with 3,2,1, ... and sometimes keeps his eyes closed while taking the picture.
The "Bellpark Photomat" can be read as a continuation of Blank's photographic or artistic-performative examination of longing and the dreamy as a subject, and of the longing for encounter in particular. Preliminary to this latest work by Blank is Jook Box (Jukebox, 2021), which will also be on view in the exhibition.
