Die Ausstellung We can't live - without each other gibt einen intimen Einblick in die komplexe Beziehung zwischen der Künstlerin Karolina Wojtas und ihrem jüngeren Bruder. Bis zu ihrem dreizehnten Lebensjahr war Karolina Wojtas ein Einzelkind, und sie wollte, dass dies auch so bleibt. Bevor ihre Eltern ihr ankündigten, dass sie einen kleinen Bruder bekommen würde, sagte Karolina immer wieder: "Ich werde eine Axt nehmen und das Kind töten und es dann essen". Obwohl diese Aussage mit Vorsicht zu genießen ist, kam es zu einem Kampf, als Karolinas Bruder geboren wurde. Diese Ausstellung gibt einen Einblick in den ständigen Kampf zwischen Bruder und Schwester: eine erkennbare Hassliebe mit manchmal extremen Elementen.
Der Betrachter der Arbeiten von Karolina Wojtas taucht in eine Kinderwelt ein, die bunt, spielerisch und ausdrucksstark ist, manchmal aber auch düster daherkommt. Die 25-jährige polnische Fotografin lässt sich von zufälligen Objekten oder Kindheitserinnerungen inspirieren: vom Hinterhof ihres Großvaters bis hin zu einer riesigen Rutsche. Das Ergebnis sind eindringliche Bilder mit einer kühnen Ästhetik. Ihre Arbeiten laden den Betrachter zum Mitmachen und Entdecken ein, wobei sich der Besucher wieder wie ein Kind fühlen kann. Manchmal kombiniert mit schwarzem Humor, schafft die Ausstellung von Wojtas eine (sur)realistische Erfahrung.
L'exposition We can't live - without each other (Nous ne pouvons pas vivre l'un sans l'autre) donne un aperçu intime de la relation complexe entre l'artiste Karolina Wojtas et son jeune frère. Jusqu'à l'âge de treize ans, Karolina Wojtas était une enfant unique et elle voulait qu'il en soit ainsi. Avant que ses parents n'annoncent qu'elle allait avoir un petit frère, Karolina n'arrêtait pas de dire : "Je vais prendre une hache et tuer cet enfant, puis le manger". Bien que cette déclaration doive être prise avec un grand grain de sel, une bataille s'est engagée lorsque le frère de Karolina est né. Cette exposition donne une vue de l'intérieur de la bataille permanente entre le frère et la sœur : une relation amour-haine reconnaissable avec des éléments parfois extrêmes.
L'observateur de l'œuvre de Karolina Wojtas est plongé dans un monde d'enfants, coloré, ludique et expressif, avec parfois un côté sinistre. La photographe polonaise de 25 ans s'inspire d'objets aléatoires ou de souvenirs d'enfance : du jardin de son grand-père à un énorme toboggan. Le résultat est constitué d'images saisissantes à l'esthétique audacieuse. Son travail invite le spectateur à participer et à découvrir, où il peut se sentir à nouveau comme un enfant. Parfois associée à un humour noir, l'exposition de Wojtas crée une expérience (sur)réaliste.
La mostra We can't live - without each other dà una visione intima della complessa relazione tra l'artista Karolina Wojtas e suo fratello minore. Fino all'età di tredici anni, Wojtas è stata figlia unica e voleva che rimanesse tale. Prima che i suoi genitori annunciassero che avrebbe avuto un fratellino, Karolina continuava a dire "prenderò un'ascia e ucciderò quel bambino e poi lo mangerò". Anche se questa affermazione dovrebbe essere presa con un grosso grano di sale, una battaglia è iniziata quando il fratello di Karolina è nato. Questa mostra offre una visione dall'interno della battaglia in corso tra fratello e sorella: una riconoscibile relazione di amore-odio con elementi talvolta estremi.
L'osservatore del lavoro di Karolina Wojtas si immerge in un mondo di bambini; è colorato, giocoso ed espressivo, a volte con un bordo cupo. La venticinquenne fotografa polacca trae la sua ispirazione da oggetti casuali o ricordi d'infanzia: dal cortile di suo nonno a un enorme scivolo. Il risultato consiste in immagini sorprendenti con un'estetica audace. Il suo lavoro invita lo spettatore a partecipare e a scoprire, dove il visitatore può sentirsi di nuovo bambino. A volte combinato con l'umorismo scuro, la mostra di Wojtas crea un'esperienza (sur)realistica.
The exhibition We can't live – without each other gives an intimate view into the complex relationship between artist Karolina Wojtas and her younger brother. Until the age of thirteen, Wojtas was an only child and she wanted it to keep it that way. Before her parents announced that she was going to have a baby brother, Karolina kept saying “I will take an axe and kill that kid and then eat it”. Although this statement should be taken with a big grain of salt, a battle did start when Karolina's brother was born. This exhibition gives an inside view into the ongoing battle between brother and sister: a recognisable love-hate relationship with sometimes extreme elements.
The observer to the work of Karolina Wojtas becomes immersed in a children's world; it is colourful, playful and expressive, sometimes with a grim edge. The 25-year-old Polish photographer gets her inspiration from random objects or childhood memories: from her grandfather's backyard to an enormous slide. The result consists of striking images with a bold aesthetic. Her work invites the viewer to participate and discover, where the visitor can feel like a child again. Sometimes combined with dark humour, the exhibition of Wojtas creates a (sur)realistic experience.
