Die Ausstellung Moriyama - Tomatsu: Tokyo wurde von den Künstlern Daido Moriyama und Shomei Tomatsu - vor dem Tod des letzteren im Jahr 2012 - als eine Art, ihre Stadt durch eine erste künstlerische Zusammenarbeit zu feiern, konzipiert.
Moriyama - Tomatsu: Tokyo wurde gemeinsam vom MEP, Daido Moriyama und Frau Yasuko Tomatsu und unter Mitwirkung von Akio Nagasawa konzipiert und ist die Verwirklichung eines historischen Projekts, das noch nie das Licht der Welt erblickt hat, und die erste große Ausstellung von Shomei Tomatsus Werk in Paris.
Verteilt auf die beiden Hauptetagen des MEP - die 2. Etage ist Tomatsu, die 3. Moriyama gewidmet - zeigt die Ausstellung mehr als 400 Werke, von denen die meisten zum ersten Mal in Paris zu sehen sind. Begleitet wird die Ausstellung von einem reich illustrierten Katalog, herausgegeben von Akio Nagasawa Publishing, mit einem Text von Simon Baker und neuen Übersetzungen wichtiger Texte der Fotografen Daido Moriyama und Shomei Tomatsu.
L’exposition Moriyama – Tomatsu : Tokyo a été conçue par les artistes Daido Moriyama et Shomei Tomatsu – avant le décès de ce dernier en 2012 – comme une manière de célébrer leur ville autour d’une première collaboration artistique.
Pensée conjointement par la MEP, Daido Moriyama et Mme Yasuko Tomatsu, et avec la collaboration d’Akio Nagasawa, Moriyama – Tomatsu : Tokyo est la concrétisation d’un projet historique n’ayant jamais vu le jour jusque-là, et constitue la première grande exposition du travail de Shomei Tomatsu à Paris.
Sur les deux étages principaux de la MEP – le 2e étage sera consacré à Tomatsu, le 3e à Moriyama – l’exposition présentera plus de 400 œuvres dont la plupart pour la première fois à Paris.
Cette exposition est accompagnée d’un catalogue richement illustré publié par Akio Nagasawa Publishing, avec un texte de Simon Baker et de nouvelles traductions de textes majeurs des photographes Daido Moriyama et Shomei Tomatsu.
La mostra Moriyama - Tomatsu: Tokyo è stata concepita dagli artisti Daido Moriyama e Shomei Tomatsu - prima della morte di quest'ultimo nel 2012 - come un modo per celebrare la loro città attraverso una prima collaborazione artistica.
Concepita congiuntamente dal deputato, Daido Moriyama e la signora Yasuko Tomatsu, e con la collaborazione di Akio Nagasawa, Moriyama - Tomatsu: Tokyo è la realizzazione di un progetto storico che non ha mai visto la luce, ed è la prima grande mostra del lavoro di Shomei Tomatsu a Parigi.
Distribuita sui due piani principali del MEP - il 2° piano sarà dedicato a Tomatsu, il 3° a Moriyama - la mostra presenterà più di 400 opere, la maggior parte delle quali saranno esposte per la prima volta a Parigi. Questa mostra è accompagnata da un catalogo riccamente illustrato pubblicato da Akio Nagasawa Publishing, con un testo di Simon Baker e nuove traduzioni dei principali testi dei fotografi Daido Moriyama e Shomei Tomatsu.
