Im Rahmen des interdisziplinären Programms MUNICH UNIQUE präsentiert das Goethe-Institut in Paris die international renommierte Münchner Fotokünstlerin Katharina Gaenssler. In einer ephemeren Installation setzt sie sich mit den Themen Vergänglichkeit und Erinnerung, Dokumentation und Speicherung von Erinnerung auseinander. Nach dem Studium der Arbeit des Architekten des Goethe-Instituts in Paris, Rainer Schell, schafft die Künstlerin eine Raumschöpfung und präsentiert ihre eigene künstlerische Arbeit und "Erinnerung" in Form eines mehrstufigen Bildvorhangs und einer digitalen Projektion.
Katharina Gaenssler schafft Rauminstallationen, die meist temporär sind und sich mit einem Ort, seiner Architektur und seiner Geschichte auseinandersetzen. Nach dem Studium der Arbeit des Architekten des Pariser Goethe-Instituts, Rainer Schell, entwarf der Künstler eine besondere Kreation für das Pariser Institut: eine dreidimensionale Intervention in Form eines Bildvorhangs. Als Rainer Schell sich nach dreißig Jahren aus seinem Beruf zurückzog, vernichtete er sein Archiv vollständig. Nur für wenige Freunde und Bekannte sammelte er eine kleine Auswahl seiner Texte und Zeichnungen in der Sammlung 30 Years of Architecture.
In ihrer auf den Ort zugeschnittenen Installation stellt Katharina Gaenssler diese Sammlung neben ihr eigenes Archiv, das sie der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich macht. Sie präsentiert ihr gesamtes "Gedächtnis". Zum einen in Form einer digitalen Präsentation einer Auswahl ihrer Buchobjekte auf 21 Bildschirmen, zum anderen durch eine komplexe mehrstufige Installation eines etwa 80 Meter langen Vorhangs, der mehrere hunderttausend Fotos zeigt.
Während Rainer Schell dafür plädiert, die Vergangenheit loszulassen und sich selbst zu "reduzieren", besteht Gaensslers Arbeit darin, Erinnerungen zu sammeln, zu akkumulieren und ihnen eine weitere Dimension zu geben. Die Verwendung des eigenen fotografischen Archivs als Partitur sowie die - wenn auch nur temporäre - "Wiedergewinnung" bestimmter Reste und Fragmente ihrer Installationen sind integrale Bestandteile von Katharina Gaensslers Arbeit.
Dans le cadre du programme interdisciplinaire MUNICH UNIQUE, le Goethe-Institut de Paris présente l'artiste photographe munichoise internationalement reconnue, Katharina Gaenssler. À travers une installation éphémère, elle se penche sur les thématiques de l’évanescence et du souvenir, de la documentation et du stockage de la mémoire. Après avoir étudié le travail de l’architecte du Goethe-Institut de Paris, Rainer Schell, l’artiste réalise une création spatiale et présente sous la forme d'un rideau d’images multi-strate et d’une projection numérique son propre travail artistique et sa « mémoire ».
Katharina Gaenssler crée des installations spatiales, le plus souvent temporaires, en explorant un lieu, son architecture et son histoire. Après avoir étudié le travail de l’architecte du Goethe-Institut de Paris, Rainer Schell, l’artiste a conçu une création spéciale pour l’Institut parisien : une intervention tridimensionnelle sous la forme d'un rideau pictural. Quand, après trente années de carrière, Rainer Schell a mis fin à sa profession, il a totalement détruit ses archives. Il a simplement regroupé une petite sélection de ses textes et dessins dans le recueil 30 ans d'Architecture destiné à quelques ami·e·s et connaissances.
Dans son installation sur-mesure pour le lieu, Katharina Gaenssler met en regard ce recueil et ses propres archives qu'elle dévoile au public. Elle y présente toute sa « mémoire ». D'une part, sous forme de présentation numérique sur 21 écrans d'une sélection de ses livres-objets et d'autre part, à travers une installation multi-strate et complexe d'un rideau d'environ 80 mètres de long dévoilant plusieurs centaines de milliers de photos.
Tandis que Rainer Schell préconise de « se délester du passé », de se « réduire », le travail de Gaenssler consiste à collecter, accumuler et donner une dimension plus large à des souvenirs. L’utilisation de ses propres archives photographiques à la manière d’une partition, ainsi que la « récupération » de certains vestiges et fragments de ses installations – bien que seulement temporaires – sont partie intégrante du travail de Katharina Gaenssler.
Nell'ambito del programma interdisciplinare MUNICH UNIQUE, il Goethe-Institut di Parigi presenta l'artista fotografica di fama internazionale Katharina Gaenssler. In un'installazione effimera, esamina i temi dell'evanescenza e del ricordo, della documentazione e della conservazione della memoria. Dopo aver studiato il lavoro dell'architetto del Goethe Institute di Parigi, Rainer Schell, l'artista crea una creazione spaziale e presenta il proprio lavoro artistico e la propria "memoria" sotto forma di una tenda di immagini a più livelli e una proiezione digitale.
Katharina Gaenssler crea installazioni spaziali, per lo più temporanee, che esplorano un luogo, la sua architettura e la sua storia. Dopo aver studiato il lavoro dell'architetto del Goethe Institute di Parigi, Rainer Schell, l'artista ha progettato una creazione speciale per l'Istituto di Parigi: un intervento tridimensionale in forma di tenda pittorica. Quando Rainer Schell si ritirò dalla sua professione dopo trent'anni, distrusse completamente il suo archivio. Ha raccolto solo una piccola selezione dei suoi testi e disegni nella collezione 30 Years of Architecture per pochi amici e conoscenti.
Nella sua installazione, fatta su misura per il luogo, Katharina Gaenssler mette questa collezione accanto ai suoi archivi, che rivela al pubblico. Presenta tutta la sua "memoria". Da un lato, sotto forma di una presentazione digitale su 21 schermi di una selezione di oggetti del suo libro, e dall'altro, attraverso una complessa installazione a più livelli di una tenda lunga circa 80 metri, che rivela diverse centinaia di migliaia di foto.
Mentre Rainer Schell raccomanda di "liberarsi del passato", di "ridurre" se stessi, il lavoro di Gaenssler consiste nel raccogliere, accumulare e dare una dimensione più ampia ai ricordi. L'uso del proprio archivio fotografico come partitura, così come il "recupero" di alcuni resti e frammenti delle sue installazioni - anche se solo temporanei - sono parti integranti del lavoro di Katharina Gaenssler.
As part of the interdisciplinary program MUNICH UNIQUE, the Goethe-Institut in Paris presents the internationally renowned Munich photographer Katharina Gaenssler. In an ephemeral installation, she examines the themes of evanescence and remembrance, documentation and storage of memory. After studying the work of the architect of the Goethe-Institut in Paris, Rainer Schell, the artist creates a spatial creation and presents her own artistic work and "memory" in the form of a multi-stage image curtain and a digital projection.
Katharina Gaenssler creates spatial installations, mostly temporary, exploring a place, its architecture and its history. After studying the work of the architect of the Goethe Institute in Paris, Rainer Schell, the artist conceived a special creation for the Parisian Institute: a three-dimensional intervention in the form of a pictorial curtain. When Rainer Schell retired from his profession after thirty years, he completely destroyed his archives. He only collected a small selection of his texts and drawings in the collection 30 Years of Architecture for a few friends and acquaintances.
In her installation, tailor-made for the venue, Katharina Gaenssler places this collection and her own archives before the public. She presents her entire "memory". On the one hand, in the form of a digital presentation on 21 screens of a selection of her book objects, and on the other hand, through a complex multi-stage installation of a curtain about 80 meters long, revealing several hundred thousand photos.
While Rainer Schell advocates "shedding the past", "reducing" oneself, Gaenssler's work consists of collecting, accumulating and giving a larger dimension to memories. The use of her own photographic archive as a score, as well as the "recovery" of certain remnants and fragments of her installations - albeit only temporary - are integral parts of Katharina Gaenssler's work.
