Die Suche erzählt aus dem Leben einer Kleinstadt Jakutiens. Um eine lyrisch-dokumentarische Annäherung handelt es sich, um ein vielschichtiges Porträt einer Siedlung, die, gegründet allein wegen diamantenreicher Erde, ihre ganz eigene Geschichte hat, und die, rund 10’000 Strassenkilometer hinter Moskau gelegen, ihren Bewohnerinnen und Bewohnern über die Jahre hin ihre Prägungen mitgibt.

The Quest raconte la vie d'une petite ville de Yakoutie. Il s'agit d'une approche lyrique-documentaire, d'un portrait à plusieurs niveaux d'une colonie qui, fondée uniquement sur un sol riche en diamants, a sa propre histoire et qui, située à quelque 10 000 kilomètres par la route derrière Moscou, a marqué ses habitants au fil des ans.
"Aujourd'hui, en Yakoutie, on ne voit presque plus rien des volcans - mais le paysage plat couvert de forêts de conifères clairsemées est l'une des régions les plus riches en diamants du monde."

The Quest racconta la vita di una piccola città in Yakutia. Si tratta di un approccio lirico-documentario, un ritratto a più livelli di un insediamento che, fondato esclusivamente su un terreno ricco di diamanti, ha una storia tutta sua e che, situato a circa 10.000 chilometri di strada dietro Mosca, ha lasciato il segno sui suoi abitanti nel corso degli anni.
"In Yakutia, oggi, non è rimasto quasi nulla da vedere dei vulcani - ma il paesaggio pianeggiante coperto da rade foreste di conifere è una delle regioni più ricche di diamanti del mondo".

The search tells from the life of a small town of Yakutia. It is a lyrical-documentary approach, a multi-layered portrait of a settlement that, founded solely on diamond-rich soil, has its very own history, and which, located some 10,000 road kilometers behind Moscow, has given its inhabitants its imprint over the years.
"In Yakutia today, there is hardly anything left to be seen of volcanoes - but the flat landscape covered with sparse coniferous forests is one of the most diamond-rich regions in the world."
