In der Serie „Dark Whispers“ setzt sich Beatrice Minda mit dem privaten Interieur im Kontext historischer Ereignisse auseinander. Im fernöstlichen Myanmar, das durch eine rigide Militärdiktatur jahrzehntelang abgeschottet war, fotografierte sie Häuser, die durch kolonial beeinflusste Lebenswelten zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts geprägt sind.
Ihre Fotografien spüren den Lebenswelten der Bewohner und den Zeichen von Veränderungen nach. Zwischen dem Damals und dem Heute klaffen große Lücken. Eine unheimliche Leere beseelt die fotografierten Räume. Dunkles Flüstern hallt durch sie hindurch– ein Memento Mori, das an das viele Unausgesprochene der Burmesischen Geschichte erinnert.
Dans la série "Dark Whispers", Beatrice Minda traite des intérieurs privés dans le contexte d'événements historiques. Au Myanmar, en Extrême-Orient, qui a été fermé pendant des décennies par une dictature militaire rigide, elle a photographié des maisons façonnées par les modes de vie influencés par la colonisation au début du XXe siècle.
Il y a de grands écarts entre l'époque et aujourd'hui. Un vide inquiétant anime les espaces photographiés. De sombres murmures y résonnent - un memento mori qui rappelle les nombreux non-dits de l'histoire birmane.
Nella serie "Dark Whispers" Beatrice Minda si occupa di interni privati nel contesto di eventi storici. In Myanmar, nell'Estremo Oriente, che è stato sigillato per decenni da una rigida dittatura militare, ha fotografato case modellate da stili di vita influenzati dal colonialismo all'inizio del 20° secolo, le sue fotografie tracciano gli stili di vita degli abitanti e i segni del cambiamento.
Ci sono grandi lacune tra allora e oggi. Un vuoto inquietante anima gli spazi fotografati. Sussurri oscuri riecheggiano attraverso di loro - un memento mori che ricorda le molte cose non dette della storia birmana.
In the series "Dark Whispers" Beatrice Minda investigates private, interior spaces within the context of historical events. In Myanmar, closed off for decades by a rigid military dictatorship, she took pictures of buildings that date to the colonially influenced worlds of the early 20th century.
Her photographs trace the worlds of those buildings' inhabitants and the signs of change. There are large gaps between the past and the present, and these spaces are animated by an eerie emptiness. They reverberate with a dark kind of whispering – a memento mori which reminds us of the many unspoken facts of Burmese history.
