Ski Runs & Champagne Dreams

In der St. Moritz Design Gallery entlang der Fussgänger-Passage vom Badrutt’s Palace Hotel zum See hinunter sind 31 grosse beleuchtete Vitrinen eingebaut, in denen wechselnde Ausstellungen mit wertvollen Plakaten und Fotografien realisiert werden. Diese Wintersaison erwartet die Besucher eine besondere Ausstellung, die in Zusammenarbeit mit der renommierten Fotoagentur Magnum Photos entstanden ist. Unter dem Titel «Ski Runs & Champagne Dreams» sind Bilder der Fotografen Werner Bischof, René Burri, Burt Glinn, Thomas Hoepker, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin und Alex Majoli zu sehen. Gemeinsam und generationsübergreifend ergeben die 31 visuellen Kurzgeschichten ein bemerkenswert schönes, heiteres und manchmal poetisches Porträt des Lebens in der Geburtsstätte des Wintertourismus.
Von Bischoff bis Glinn
Die fotografische Zeitreise beginnt in den späten Vierzigerjahren mit Skibildern des Schweizers Werner Bischoff. Es folgen Fotografien des Amerikaners Burt Glinn, der das gesellschaftliche Leben in St. Moritz ab den späten Fünfzigerjahren von ganz Nahem einzufangen wusste: Da ist etwa der Butler von Sr. Arturo Lopez, der das Privatflugzeug seines Chefs mit Champagnerflaschen belädt. Oder die amerikanische Gossip-Kolumnistin Elsa Maxwell, die im Corviglia Club zur „Queen of the glamour girls“ gekrönt wird. Zum Titelbild der Ausstellung geschafft hat es eine Glinn-Aufnahme von 1959 im Badrutt’s Palace Hotel: Darauf zu sehen ist eine im Bett liegende Frau, die trinkend und rauchend eine Massage geniesst. Das Bild symbolisiert wie kein zweites die Extravaganz, die
St. Moritz schon immer ausgezeichnet hat.
Und Hoepker bis Majoli
Nach Glinn wartet der deutsche Fotograf Thomas Hoepker mit einem starken Bild von 1965 auf: Zu sehen ist der bekannte Industrielle, Fotograf und Playboy Gunter Sachs beim Warten auf seine nächste Abfahrt am Cresta Run. Auf Hoepker folgt der Schweizer René Burri, der mit Fotografien des Engadin Skimarathons für eine sportliche Note sorgt. Der nächste Szenenwechsel könnte nicht grösser sein, denn Martin Parrs Bilder von Skifahrern auf der Corviglia verströmen seinen typisch persönlichen, humorvollen und anthropologischen Blick auf Situationen des Alltags. Den Abschluss machen Fotografien der Italiener Paolo Pellegrin und Alex Majoli, die mit ihren Naturbildern für eine ruhige und poetische Abrundung der Ausstellung sorgen.

Moritz Design Gallery, le long du passage piéton qui descend de l'hôtel Badrutt's Palace vers le lac, 31 grandes vitrines éclairées ont été installées pour réaliser des expositions temporaires d'affiches et de photographies de valeur. Cette saison d'hiver, une exposition particulière attend les visiteurs, réalisée en collaboration avec la célèbre agence de photographie Magnum Photos. Intitulée "Ski Runs & Champagne Dreams", elle présente des images des photographes Werner Bischof, René Burri, Burt Glinn, Thomas Hoepker, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin et Alex Majoli. Ensemble et toutes générations confondues, ces 31 courtes histoires visuelles forment un portrait remarquablement beau, joyeux et parfois poétique de la vie dans le lieu de naissance du tourisme hivernal.
De Bischoff à Glinn
Le voyage photographique dans le temps commence à la fin des années quarante avec des photos de ski du Suisse Werner Bischoff. Viennent ensuite les photographies de l'Américain Burt Glinn, qui a su saisir de très près la vie sociale à St-Moritz à partir de la fin des années cinquante : on y voit par exemple le majordome de Sr Arturo Lopez, qui charge l'avion privé de son patron de bouteilles de champagne. Ou encore la chroniqueuse américaine de gossips Elsa Maxwell, qui est couronnée "Queen of the glamour girls" au Corviglia Club. C'est une photo de Glinn prise en 1959 au Badrutt's Palace Hotel qui a fait la couverture de l'exposition : on y voit une femme allongée sur un lit, qui boit et fume en se faisant masser. Cette image symbolise mieux que toute autre l'extravagance qui a toujours caractérisé St-Moritz.
Et de Hoepker à Majoli
Après Glinn, le photographe allemand Thomas Hoepker nous offre une image forte de 1965 : On y voit le célèbre industriel, photographe et playboy Gunter Sachs en train d'attendre sa prochaine descente au Cresta Run. Hoepker est suivi par le Suisse René Burri, qui apporte une touche sportive avec des photographies du marathon de ski de l'Engadine. Le changement de décor suivant ne pourrait pas être plus grand, car les images de Martin Parr sur des skieurs à Corviglia dégagent son regard typiquement personnel, humoristique et anthropologique sur des situations du quotidien. L'exposition se termine par les photographies des Italiens Paolo Pellegrin et Alex Majoli, dont les images de la nature apportent une touche de calme et de poésie.

Questa stagione invernale, i visitatori potranno ammirare una mostra speciale creata in collaborazione con la rinomata agenzia fotografica Magnum Photos. Intitolata "Ski Runs & Champagne Dreams", presenta immagini dei fotografi Werner Bischof, René Burri, Burt Glinn, Thomas Hoepker, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin e Alex Majoli. Insieme e attraverso le generazioni, i 31 racconti visivi creano un ritratto straordinariamente bello, sereno e talvolta poetico della vita nel luogo di nascita del turismo invernale.
Da Bischoff a Glinn
Il viaggio fotografico nel tempo inizia alla fine degli anni 40 con le immagini di sci dello svizzero Werner Bischoff. Seguono le fotografie dell'americano Burt Glinn, che ha saputo cogliere da molto vicino la vita sociale di St. Moritz a partire dalla fine degli anni 50: c'è il maggiordomo di Sr. Arturo Lopez, per esempio, che carica di bottiglie di champagne l'aereo privato del suo capo. O la giornalista americana di gossip Elsa Maxwell, che viene incoronata "Regina delle ragazze glamour" nel Club Corviglia. Una fotografia di Glinn scattata nel 1959 al Badrutt's Palace Hotel è finita sulla copertina della mostra: mostra una donna sdraiata a letto, che beve e fuma mentre si gode un massaggio. Come nessun altro, il quadro simboleggia la stravaganza che ha sempre caratterizzato St.
E Hoepker a Majoli
Dopo Glinn, il fotografo tedesco Thomas Hoepker si presenta con un'immagine forte del 1965: Il famoso industriale, fotografo e playboy Gunter Sachs può essere visto in attesa della sua prossima discesa alla Cresta Run. Hoepker è seguito dallo svizzero René Burri, che aggiunge un tocco sportivo con fotografie della maratona di sci dell'Engadina. Il prossimo cambio di scenario non potrebbe essere maggiore, poiché le immagini di Martin Parr degli sciatori sul Corviglia trasudano la sua visione tipicamente personale, umoristica e antropologica delle situazioni quotidiane. La mostra si conclude con le fotografie degli italiani Paolo Pellegrin e Alex Majoli, le cui immagini della natura completano la mostra con calma e poesia.

In the St. Moritz Design Gallery along the pedestrian passage from Badrutt's Palace Hotel down to the lake, 31 large illuminated showcases are installed, in which changing exhibitions of valuable posters and photographs are realized. This winter season, a special exhibition awaits visitors, created in collaboration with the renowned photo agency Magnum Photos. Entitled "Ski Runs & Champagne Dreams", it features images by photographers Werner Bischof, René Burri, Burt Glinn, Thomas Hoepker, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin and Alex Majoli. Together and spanning generations, the 31 visual short stories create a remarkably beautiful, serene and sometimes poetic portrait of life in the birthplace of winter tourism.
From Bischoff to GlinnThe photographic journey through time begins in the late 1940s with ski images by Swiss Werner Bischoff. This is followed by photographs by the American Burt Glinn, who was able to capture the social life in St. Moritz from the late 1950s onwards from very close up: there is Sr. Arturo Lopez's butler, for example, loading his boss's private plane with champagne bottles. Or the American gossip columnist Elsa Maxwell, who is crowned "Queen of the glamour girls" at the Corviglia Club. A Glinn photograph taken in 1959 at the Badrutt's Palace Hotel has made it to the cover of the exhibition: it shows a woman lying in bed, drinking and smoking while enjoying a massage. The picture symbolizes like no other the extravagance that has always characterized St. Moritz.
And Hoepker to MajoliAfter Glinn, the German photographer Thomas Hoepker comes up with a strong picture from 1965: The famous industrialist, photographer and playboy Gunter Sachs can be seen waiting for his next descent at Cresta Run. Hoepker is followed by the Swiss René Burri, who adds a sporty touch with photographs of the Engadin Ski Marathon. The next change of scenery couldn't be bigger, as Martin Parr's images of skiers on Corviglia exude his typically personal, humorous and anthropological take on everyday situations. The exhibition concludes with photographs by Italians Paolo Pellegrin and Alex Majoli, whose images of nature provide a tranquil and poetic rounding of the exhibition.
