Elfie Semotan gilt zurecht als die Grande Dame der österreichischen Fotografie, deren Werk in zahlreichen Ausstellungen und Publikationen dokumentiert und in der Öffentlichkeit überwiegend dem Bereich der Mode- und editoriellen Porträtfotografie zugeordnet wird.
Die große Ausstellung über ein fast 60-jähriges Schaffen fokussiert nun auf das bislang kaum bekannte private Bildarchiv der Künstlerin.
Der Fotohof würdigt und positioniert Elfie Semotan damit als eine der frühen und wichtigen Protagonistinnen der Autor:innenfotografie in Österreich. Elfie Semotans beharrliches Interesse an den verschiedenen Möglichkeiten des Mediums Fotografie, ihre Fähigkeit der trivialen Dingwelt Gestalt und Poesie zu verleihen, zieht sich wie ein roter Faden durch ihr Archiv, von den Anfängen bis heute.
Elfie Semotan est considérée à juste titre comme la grande dame de la photographie autrichienne, dont l'œuvre a été documentée dans de nombreuses expositions et publications et est principalement classée par le public dans le domaine de la photographie de mode et des portraits éditoriaux.
La grande exposition sur près de 60 ans de création se concentre désormais sur les archives photographiques privées de l'artiste, peu connues jusqu'à présent.
Fotohof rend ainsi hommage à Elfie Semotan et la positionne comme l'une des premières et importantes protagonistes de la photographie d'auteur en Autriche. L'intérêt persistant d'Elfie Semotan pour les différentes possibilités offertes par le médium photographique, sa capacité à donner forme et poésie au monde trivial des choses, constituent le fil rouge de ses archives, de ses débuts à aujourd'hui.
Elfie Semotan è giustamente considerata la grande dama della fotografia austriaca, il cui lavoro è stato documentato in numerose mostre e pubblicazioni ed è prevalentemente assegnato dal pubblico al campo della fotografia di moda e del ritratto editoriale.
Questa grande mostra di quasi 60 anni di lavoro si concentra ora sull'archivio fotografico privato dell'artista, finora poco conosciuto.
Il Fotohof onora e posiziona così Elfie Semotan come una delle prime e importanti protagoniste della fotografia d'autore in Austria. Il persistente interesse di Elfie Semotan per le varie possibilità del mezzo fotografico, la sua capacità di dare forma e poesia al mondo banale delle cose, percorre come un filo conduttore il suo archivio, dagli esordi a oggi.

This major exhibition of nearly 60 years of work now focuses on the artist's hitherto little-known private image archive.
The Fotohof thus honors and positions Elfie Semotan as one of the early and important protagonists of author:interior photography in Austria. Elfie Semotan's persistent interest in the various possibilities of the medium of photography, her ability to give shape and poetry to the trivial world of things, runs like a thread through her archive, from its beginnings to the present day.
