Die Ausstellung Aktionsfotografie 1963-1984 im WestLicht rückt erstmals das fotografische Werk von Hermann Nitsch in den Mittelpunkt. Die Dokumentation seiner wild umstrittenen Aktionen wie auch die eigenständigen Werke aus der Blütezeit des Wiener Aktionismus bieten außergewöhnliche Einblicke in die Denk- und Arbeitsweise des im vergangenen Jahr verstorbenen Künstlers.
Mit der Präsentation ausschließlich fotografischer Werke rückt das Wiener Fotomuseum WestLicht erstmals einen bisher kaum beachteten Aspekt im umfangreichen Schaffen des im Vorjahr verstorbenen österreichischen Künstlers Hermann Nitsch ins Zentrum einer Ausstellung.
Dabei, so das Kurator:innen-Duo Julia Moebus-Puck und Fabian Knierim, waren Fotografie und Film für das Orgien Mysterien Theater von Anfang an ein ebenso wichtiger Bestandteil wie Malerei, Zeichnung, Druckgrafik und Musik. „Nitsch wollte mit der Fotografie das unmittelbare sinnliche Erleben, das bei seinen Aktionen im Vordergrund stand, auch für die Nachwelt greifbar machen", betont Moebus-Puck. "In unserer heutigen Zeit, in der wir zunehmend auf Abstand zueinander gehen und die Alltagsfotografie oft nur schöne Scheinwelten produziert ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit diesem Teil seines Werkes aktueller denn je.“
L'exposition Aktionsfotografie 1963-1984 au WestLicht met pour la première fois l'accent sur l'œuvre photographique de Hermann Nitsch. La documentation de ses actions sauvagement controversées ainsi que les œuvres indépendantes de l'âge d'or de l'actionnisme viennois offrent un aperçu exceptionnel de la pensée et de la méthode de travail de l'artiste décédé l'année dernière.
En présentant exclusivement des œuvres photographiques, le musée de la photographie WestLicht de Vienne met pour la première fois au centre d'une exposition un aspect jusqu'ici peu remarqué de la vaste œuvre de l'artiste autrichien Hermann Nitsch, décédé l'année dernière.
Selon le duo de curateurs Julia Moebus-Puck et Fabian Knierim, la photographie et le film ont été dès le début une composante aussi importante pour le théâtre Orgien Mysterien que la peinture, le dessin, la gravure et la musique. "Avec la photographie, Nitsch voulait rendre tangible pour la postérité l'expérience sensorielle immédiate qui était au premier plan de ses actions", souligne Moebus-Puck. "À notre époque, où nous prenons de plus en plus de distance les uns par rapport aux autres et où la photographie quotidienne ne produit souvent que de beaux mondes illusoires, une réflexion sur cette partie de son œuvre est plus que jamais d'actualité".

La documentazione delle sue azioni selvaggiamente controverse e le opere indipendenti del periodo d'oro dell'Azionismo viennese offrono straordinari spunti di riflessione e di lavoro dell'artista, scomparso lo scorso anno.
Con la presentazione di opere esclusivamente fotografiche, il Fotomuseum WestLicht di Vienna si concentra per la prima volta su un aspetto della vasta opera dell'artista austriaco Hermann Nitsch, scomparso lo scorso anno.
Secondo il duo curatoriale Julia Moebus-Puck e Fabian Knierim, per l'Orgien Mysterien Theater la fotografia e il cinema erano importanti quanto la pittura, il disegno, le stampe e la musica. "Nitsch voleva usare la fotografia per rendere tangibile anche ai posteri l'esperienza sensuale immediata che era in primo piano nelle sue azioni", sottolinea Moebus-Puck. "Ai giorni nostri, in cui ci allontaniamo sempre più gli uni dagli altri e la fotografia di tutti i giorni spesso produce solo splendidi mondi illusori, un esame di questa parte del suo lavoro è più attuale che mai".
The exhibition Action Photography 1963-1984 at WestLicht focuses for the first time on the photographic work of Hermann Nitsch. The documentation of his wildly controversial actions as well as the independent works from the heyday of Viennese Actionism offer extraordinary insights into the thinking and working methods of the artist, who died last year.
With the presentation of exclusively photographic works, Vienna's Fotomuseum WestLicht is for the first time focusing on an aspect of the extensive oeuvre of the Austrian artist Hermann Nitsch, who died last year, that has received little attention to date.
According to the curatorial duo Julia Moebus-Puck and Fabian Knierim, photography and film were just as important to the Orgien Mysterien Theater as painting, drawing, prints and music from the very beginning. "Nitsch wanted to use photography to make the immediate sensual experience that was at the forefront of his actions tangible for posterity as well," Moebus-Puck emphasizes. "In our day and age, when we are increasingly distancing ourselves from one another and everyday photography often produces only beautiful illusory worlds, an examination of this part of his work is more topical than ever."
