Romeo Vendrame zeigt in der Galerie Fabian & Claude Walter Arbeiten aus den Werkzyklen «Loner» und «Choreography». In beiden ist er präsent: er ist Loner und Choreograph in einer Person, der Autor und Lieferant der Bilder, genauso wie deren Bearbeiter und Regisseur.
«London lässt mich nicht los», meint Vendrame noch heute. Gefesselt und in Bann geschlagen hat ihn die Stadt schon bei seinem ersten Besuch. Der knapp Zwanzigjährige durchstreifte die Metropole, allein mit seiner Fotokamera unterwegs. Er fotografierte, was ihm vor die Linse kam – damals noch ohne künstlerische Ambitionen -, und legte sich so einen Fundus an Bildern an. Es entstanden Hunderte von Dias, die wie ein Tage- oder Skizzenbuch das London der 1970er Jahre mit seiner besonderen Atmosphäre einer Auf- und Umbruchstimmung speichern. Erst 2014, inzwischen zum Bildkünstler geworden, äufnete Vendrame diesen Bilderschatz, der sich für ihn bis heute als unerschöpflich erweist. In der Galerie sind Werke aus dem Zyklus «Choreography Part I – III» zu sehen.
Vendrame sichtet seine ‘Fotoskizzen’ immer wieder neu, wählt aus und sortiert sie nach unterschiedlichen Kriterien. Damit kommt der Choreograph ins Spiel, der viele Strategien kennt. Er bearbeitet seine Vorgaben mit unterschiedlichen transluziden oder opaken Materialien. Er verändert das Dia und macht es zur neuen Vorlage, die er wiederum fotografiert und nach mehrmaligen Auswahlverfahren zum Kunstbild erklärt. In den Fotobildern aus dem Zyklus «Loner» bezieht er sich ebenfalls auf seine frühen Reisen durch Italien, Korsika, Frankreich, Rumänien etc. und die unzähligen Dias von damals. Auch diese transformiert er im intensiven Bearbeitungsprozess des ’Vendramisierens’.

"Londres ne me lâche pas", déclare Vendrame aujourd'hui encore. La ville l'a captivé et envoûté dès sa première visite. Le jeune homme d'à peine vingt ans parcourait la métropole, seul avec son appareil photo. Il photographiait ce qui lui tombait sous la main - à l'époque, il n'avait pas encore d'ambitions artistiques - et se constituait ainsi un stock de visuels. Il en résulte des centaines de diapositives qui, à la manière d'un journal intime ou d'un carnet de croquis, enregistrent le Londres des années 1970 avec son atmosphère particulière de renouveau et de changement. Ce n'est qu'en 2014, devenu entre-temps artiste plasticien, que Vendrame a accumulé ce trésor d'images qui s'avère pour lui inépuisable jusqu'à aujourd'hui. La galerie présente des œuvres du cycle "Choreography Part I - III".
Vendrame passe sans cesse en revue ses 'croquis photographiques', les sélectionne et les classe selon différents critères. C'est ainsi qu'intervient le chorégraphe, qui connaît de nombreuses stratégies. Il travaille ses consignes avec différents matériaux translucides ou opaques. Il modifie la diapositive et en fait un nouveau modèle qu'il photographie à son tour et déclare, après plusieurs procédures de sélection, être une image d'art. Dans les images photographiques du cycle "Loner", il se réfère également à ses premiers voyages en Italie, en Corse, en France, en Roumanie, etc. et aux innombrables diapositives de l'époque. Il transforme également ces dernières dans le cadre d'un processus de traitement intensif de 'vendramisage'.

"Londra non mi lascia andare", dice ancora oggi Vendrame. La prima volta che l'ha visitata è rimasto affascinato dalla città. L'appena ventenne si aggirava per la metropoli, solo con la sua macchina fotografica. Fotografava tutto ciò che passava davanti al suo obiettivo - all'epoca senza alcuna velleità artistica - e costruiva così un patrimonio di immagini. Nacquero centinaia di diapositive che, come un diario o un quaderno di schizzi, conservano la Londra degli anni Settanta con la sua particolare atmosfera di sconvolgimento e cambiamento. Solo nel 2014, quando è diventato un artista visivo, Vendrame ha accumulato questo tesoro di immagini, che ancora oggi si rivela inesauribile per lui. Le opere del ciclo "Coreografia Parte I - III" sono visibili nella galleria.
Vendrame passa al setaccio i suoi "schizzi fotografici" ancora e ancora, li seleziona e li ordina secondo diversi criteri. Questo mette in gioco il coreografo, che conosce molte strategie. Lavora sulle sue specifiche con diversi materiali traslucidi o opachi. Cambia la diapositiva e la trasforma in un nuovo modello, che a sua volta fotografa e dichiara immagine d'arte dopo vari processi di selezione. Nelle immagini fotografiche del ciclo "Loner", fa riferimento anche ai suoi primi viaggi in Italia, Corsica, Francia, Romania, ecc. e alle innumerevoli diapositive di allora. Le trasforma anche nell'intenso processo di editing del "vendramising".

"London won't let me go," Vendrame still says today. He was captivated by the city on his very first visit. The barely twenty-year-old roamed the metropolis, alone with his camera. He photographed whatever came in front of his lens - at that time without any artistic ambitions - and thus built up a pool of images. Hundreds of slides were created, which, like a diary or sketchbook, store the London of the 1970s with its special atmosphere of upheaval and change. It was not until 2014, in the meantime having become a visual artist, that Vendrame accumulated this treasure trove of images, which to this day proves inexhaustible for him. Works from the cycle "Choreography Part I - III" are on view in the gallery.
Vendrame sifts through his 'photo sketches' again and again, selects and sorts them according to different criteria. This brings the choreographer into play, who knows many strategies. He works on his specifications with different translucent or opaque materials. He changes the slide and turns it into a new template, which he in turn photographs and declares to be an art image after repeated selection procedures. In the photographic images from the cycle "Loner" he also refers to his early travels through Italy, Corsica, France, Romania, etc. and the countless slides from that time. He also transforms these in the intensive editing process of 'vendramizing'.
