Die Ausstellung der Künstlerin und Filmemacherin Pauline Julier (*1981, Genf) ist eine intergalaktische Tour. Sie führt uns durch die geologischen Zeitalter der Erde bis ins Weltall. Wir besuchen einen 300 Millionen Jahre alten Wald in China ebenso wie ein Gebirge auf dem Mars. Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft lösen sich auf, bis wir die Orientierung verlieren. Doch die Verwirrung ist gewollt und fordert uns heraus: Wie weit ist die Menschheit bereit, die Ressourcen der Erde und weiterer Planeten auszubeuten? Wie können wir auf die Komplexität des Klimawandels reagieren?
Pauline Julier hinterfragt die Beziehungen zwischen Mensch und Umwelt: In diesem «einzigen Universum» sind alle Lebewesen mit einander verbunden. In immersiven Videoinstallationen verknüpft die Künstlerin wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse mit Ritualen und Mythen. Zwischen Dokumentation und Fiktion lädt sie uns dazu ein, einen Blick mit der Welt zu teilen, und nicht auf sie zu werfen.

L'exposition de l'artiste et cinéaste Pauline Julier (*1981, Genève) est un tour intergalactique. Elle nous fait traverser les âges géologiques de la Terre jusqu'à l'espace. Nous visitons aussi bien une forêt chinoise vieille de 300 millions d'années qu'une montagne sur Mars. Le passé, le présent et le futur se dissolvent jusqu'à ce que nous perdions nos repères. Mais la confusion est voulue et nous met au défi : Jusqu'à quel point l'humanité est-elle prête à exploiter les ressources de la Terre et d'autres planètes ? Comment pouvons-nous réagir à la complexité du changement climatique ?
Pauline Julier s'interroge sur les relations entre l'homme et son environnement : dans cet "univers unique", tous les êtres vivants sont reliés les uns aux autres. Dans des installations vidéo immersives, l'artiste associe les connaissances scientifiques aux rituels et aux mythes. Entre documentaire et fiction, elle nous invite à partager un regard sur le monde et non à le regarder.

La mostra dell'artista e regista Pauline Julier (*1981, Ginevra) è un tour intergalattico. Ci porta attraverso le ere geologiche della Terra e nello spazio. Visitiamo una foresta di 300 milioni di anni fa in Cina e una catena montuosa su Marte. Passato, presente e futuro si dissolvono fino a farci perdere l'orientamento. Ma la confusione è intenzionale e ci mette alla prova: Fino a che punto l'umanità è pronta a sfruttare le risorse della Terra e degli altri pianeti? Come possiamo rispondere alla complessità del cambiamento climatico?
Pauline Julier analizza il rapporto tra l'uomo e l'ambiente: in questo "universo unico", tutti gli esseri viventi sono collegati tra loro. In videoinstallazioni immersive, l'artista combina scoperte scientifiche con rituali e miti. Tra documentario e finzione, ci invita a condividere uno sguardo con il mondo, non su di esso.

Ready for a voyage through space and time? The exhibition by the artist and filmmaker Pauline Julier (*1981, Geneva) is an intergalactic tour, leading us through the geological ages of the Earth all the way to space. We visit a 300-million-year-old forest in China as well as a mountain range on Mars. Past, present, and future dissolve until we lose our bearings. But this confusion is intended and challenges us: How far are humans willing to go to exploit the resources of Earth and other planets? How can we respond to the complexity of climate change?
Pauline Julier questions the relationships between humans and the environment: In this “single universe” all living beings are interconnected. With immersive video installations, the artist links scientific discoveries with rituals and myths. Between documentation and fiction, she invites us to share our gaze with the world rather than throwing it at the world.
