In den vier Abschnitten "The Iconic", "The Historic", "The Ambassador" und "The Personal" taucht der Besucher in Gülers fotografische Praxis ein, von seiner ikonischen Arbeit als Fotojournalist bis hin zu seinen bemerkenswerten experimentellen Arbeiten. Seine stimmungsvollen Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografien zeigen seine tiefe Liebe zu Istanbul und der Türkei. Die Ausstellung wird von der gleichnamigen Publikation A Play of Light and Shadow begleitet, die Beiträge von mehreren Spezialisten auf diesem Gebiet enthält.
Die Ausstellung ist eine enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen Foam, Ko-Kurator Ahmet Polat und dem Ara Güler Museum.
Ara Güler (1928-2018) war ein bekannter Fotojournalist und eine treibende Kraft in der türkischen Fotografie. Er wurde als "Das Auge Istanbuls" gefeiert, und seine ergreifenden Schwarz-Weiß-Bilder von den Einwohnern, den Straßen und den Docks dieser Stadt sind nach wie vor seine berühmtesten Werke. Ara Güler verewigte im Laufe seiner glanzvollen Karriere zahlreiche berühmte Künstler und politische Persönlichkeiten.
À travers quatre sections, Iconique, Historique, Ambassadeur et Personnel, le visiteur est plongé dans la pratique photographique de Güler, de son travail emblématique de photojournaliste à son remarquable travail expérimental. Ses photographies évocatrices en noir et blanc témoignent de son amour profond pour Istanbul et la Turquie. L'exposition sera également accompagnée de la publication éponyme A Play of Light and Shadow, avec des contributions de plusieurs spécialistes dans ce domaine.
L'exposition est le fruit d'une étroite collaboration entre Foam, le co-commissaire Ahmet Polat et le musée Ara Güler.

His evocative black-and-white photographs show his profound love for Istanbul and Turkey. The exhibition will also be accompanied by the eponymous publication A Play of Light and Shadow, with contributions from several specialists in the field.
