Die Choreografin Ana Pi und die Sängerin und Harfenistin Sophye Soliveau treten in einen Dialog mit den Werken der Ausstellung Julien Creuzet - Orpheus sinniert über geschmorte Worte (...), die derzeit im Luma Westbau zu sehen ist.

Der Titel der Performance We were dancing the black waltz of the snake ist dem ebenso beschwörenden wie rätselhaften Text von Julien Creuzet entnommen. Die Performance schafft eine Begegnung mit Creuzets Projekt, das als eine Oper konzipiert wurde, in der Bilder, Tanz, Poesie und Musik zusammengebracht werden, um immersive Landschaften und Meereslandschaften zu schaffen.

Ana Pi: Choreografin und Bildkünstlerin, Forscherin für afro-diasporische und urbane Tänze, zeitgenössische Tänzerin und Pädagogin, ihre Praktiken sind mit dem Akt des Reisens verwoben. Ihre Arbeit bewegt sich zwischen den Begriffen des Transits, der Verschiebung, der Zugehörigkeit, der Überlagerung, der Erinnerung, der Farben und der gewöhnlichen Gesten. Im Jahr 2020 schuf sie die Struktur NA MATA LAB.

Sophye Soliveau ist eine Sängerin und Harfenistin, die seit ihrer Kindheit mit afro-amerikanischer Musik aufgewachsen ist. Sie ist Mitglied des Musikkollektivs Seksion Maloya (traditionelle Musik der Insel La Réunion) und Àbájade (Afrojazz-Gruppe mit kubanischen Einflüssen), wo sie Gesang, Chöre und Perkussion spielt.

Als leidenschaftliche Liebhaberin von Vokalharmonien, von Francis Poulenc bis Bobby Mc Ferrin, leitet sie auch mehrere Vokalensembles (Maré Mananga, Oshun und l'Atelier chorale), in denen die Improvisation und die Verbindung zur Musik der Afro-Descendants, insbesondere R'n'B und Soul, eine zentrale Rolle spielen.

Soliveau arbeitet derzeit an einem gefühlvollen und intimen Projekt, das noch in diesem Jahr eine erste EP hervorbringen soll.

Le titre de la performance We were dancing the black waltz of the snake est tiré du texte à la fois incantatoire et énigmatique de Julien Creuzet. La performance crée une rencontre avec le projet de Creuzet, conçu comme un opéra où les visuels, la danse, la poésie et la musique sont réunis pour créer des paysages immersifs et des paysages marins.

Ana Pi : chorégraphe et artiste visuelle, chercheuse en danses afro-diasporiques et urbaines, danseuse contemporaine et pédagogue, ses pratiques sont imbriquées dans l'acte de voyager. Son travail oscille entre les notions de transit, de déplacement, d'appartenance, de superposition, de mémoire, de couleurs et de gestes ordinaires. En 2020, elle a créé la structure NA MATA LAB.

Sophye Soliveau est une chanteuse et harpiste qui a baigné dans la musique afro-américaine depuis son enfance. Elle fait partie du collectif musical Seksion Maloya (musique traditionnelle de l'île de la Réunion) et Àbájade (groupe d'afrojazz aux influences cubaines), où elle joue du chant, des chœurs et des percussions.

Passionnée par les harmonies vocales, de Francis Poulenc à Bobby Mc Ferrin, elle dirige également plusieurs ensembles vocaux (Maré Mananga, Oshun et l'Atelier choral) où l'improvisation et le lien avec les musiques afro-descendantes, notamment le R'n'B et la soul, occupent une place centrale.

Soliveau travaille actuellement sur un projet sensible et intime qui devrait donner lieu à un premier EP avant la fin de l'année.

La performance crea un incontro con il progetto di Creuzet, concepito come un'opera in cui immagini, danza, poesia e musica si fondono per creare paesaggi immersivi e marine.

Ana Pi: coreografa e artista visiva, ricercatrice di danza afro-diasporica e urbana, danzatrice contemporanea ed educatrice, le sue pratiche sono intrecciate con l'atto del viaggiare. Il suo lavoro si muove tra le nozioni di transito, spostamento, appartenenza, sovrapposizione, memoria, colore e gesti ordinari. Nel 2020 ha creato la struttura NA MATA LAB.

Sophye Soliveau è una cantante e arpista cresciuta ascoltando musica afroamericana fin dall'infanzia. È membro del collettivo musicale Seksion Maloya (musica tradizionale dell'Isola della Riunione) e di Àbájade (gruppo afrojazz con influenze cubane), dove suona voce, cori e percussioni.

Appassionata di armonie vocali, da Francis Poulenc a Bobby Mc Ferrin, guida anche diversi ensemble vocali (Maré Mananga, Oshun e l'Atelier chorale) in cui l'improvvisazione e il legame con la musica degli afro-discendenti, in particolare R'n'B e soul, giocano un ruolo centrale.

Attualmente Soliveau sta lavorando a un progetto intimo e soul che dovrebbe produrre un primo EP nel corso dell'anno.

The title of the performance We were dancing the black waltz of the snake is taken from Julien Creuzet’s writing, which is both evocative and enigmatic. The performance will create an encounter with Creuzet’s project, which was conceived as an opera where imagery, dance, poetry and music are brought together to create immersive landscapes and seascapes.

Ana Pi: Choreographic and imagery artist, researcher of Afro-diasporic and urban dances, extemporary dancer and pedagogue, her practices are woven through the act of traveling. The work is situated among the notions of transit, displacement, belonging, superposition, memory, colors and ordinary gestures. In 2020 she created the structure NA MATA LAB.

Sophye Soliveau is a singer and harpist who was brought up on Afro-American music since childhood. She is a member of the music collective Seksion Maloya (traditional music of Reunion Island) and Àbájade (Afrojazz group with Cuban influences) on lead vocals, choirs and percussion.

Passionate about vocal harmonies, from Francis Poulenc to Bobby Mc Ferrin, she also leads several vocal ensembles (Maré Mananga, Oshun and l'Atelier chorale) in which improvisation and the link with Afro-descendant music, particularly R'n'B and soul, play a central role.

Soliveau is currently working on a soulful and intimate project with a view to releasing a first EP this year.

Otodama ist eine musikalische Begegnung zwischen der Flötistin Yukari und dem Perkussionisten Luc Müller, deren Ergebnis eine meditative improvisierte Musik ist, in der die Stille und all ihre Geräusche als 3. Das Zuhören ist der wichtigste Architekt und stellt keine Hierarchie zwischen den Umgebungsgeräuschen und den musikalischen Klängen auf. Otodama haben ihre Musik im Wald aufgenommen, dessen Klänge eine Quelle der Inspiration sind, unabhängig davon, in welchem musikalischen Kontext das Duo auftritt. Die Erforschung der inneren Musikalität, frei und ohne demonstrativen Willen, lässt die Flötistin zeitweise in die Perkussion und den Perkussionisten in den Atem gleiten. So kommt es vor, dass die Rollen getauscht werden, der Bläser wird zum Stampfer und der Stampfer zum Bläser. Neben den Klängen des Waldes, den Klängen der Musiker und den Klängen der Stille geht es vor allem darum, in sich hineinzuhören und den Weg zu finden, der zum Ursprung all dieser Klänge führt - dem Leben und seiner kreativen Energie - und zu versuchen, daraus eine musikalische Form zu formen. An diesem Abend wird das Duo von den Fotografien von Elisa Murcia-Artengo begleitet, die sich, inspiriert durch das Otodama-Projekt, auf die Suche nach seiner Essenz in der Natur begeben hat, die gerade von der neuen Geburt des Frühlings umgeben ist. Der sprudelnde Pflanzensaft vibriert, die wachsenden Wurzeln, die den Baum stützen, klingen.

Otodama est une rencontre musicale entre la flutiste Yukari et le percussioniste Luc Müller dont le résultat est une musique improvisée méditative, où le silence et tous ses bruits sont considérés comme un.e 3ème musicien.ne. L’écoute en est l’architecte principale et ne met pas de hiérarchie entre les sons environnants et les sons musicaux. Otodama est allé enregistrer sa musique dans la forêt, dont les sonorités sont une source d’inspiration quel que soit le contexte musical dans lequel le duo se produit.L’exploration de la musicalité intérieure, libre, sans volonté démonstrative, fait glisser par moment la flûtiste vers la percussion et le percussionniste vers le souffle. Ainsi il arrive que les rôles soient échangés, le soufflant devient tapant et le tapant devient soufflant.Au-delà des sons de la forêt, des sons des musiciens, des sons du silence, il s’agit surtout de se mettre à l’écoute et de trouver la voie qui mène à l’origine de tous ces sons, la vie et son énergie créatrice, et de tenter d’en sculpter une forme musicale. Pour cette soirée le duo sera accompagné des photographies de Elisa Murcia-Artengo qui, inspirée par le projet Otodama est allée à la recherche de son essence dans la nature justement entourée de la nouvelle naissance du printemps. La sève des plantes qui jaillit vibre, les racines qui poussent et soutiennent l’arbre résonnent.

Otodama è un incontro musicale tra la flautista Yukari e il percussionista Luc Müller. Il risultato è una musica meditativa improvvisata, dove il silenzio e tutti i suoi rumori sono considerati come un terzo musicista. L'ascolto è l'artefice principale e non pone una gerarchia tra i suoni circostanti e i suoni musicali. Otodama ha registrato la sua musica nella foresta, i cui suoni sono fonte di ispirazione indipendentemente dal contesto musicale in cui il duo si esibisce. L'esplorazione della musicalità interiore, libera, senza alcuna volontà dimostrativa, fa scivolare a tratti il flautista verso la percussione e il percussionista verso il respiro. Così, a volte i ruoli si scambiano, il soffiare diventa battere e il battere diventa soffiare. Al di là dei suoni della foresta, dei suoni dei musicisti, dei suoni del silenzio, si tratta soprattutto di ascoltare e di trovare la strada che porta all'origine di tutti questi suoni, la vita e la sua energia creativa, e di cercare di scolpirne una forma musicale. Per questa serata il duo sarà accompagnato dalle fotografie di Elisa Murcia-Artengo che, ispirata dal progetto Otodama, è andata alla ricerca della sua essenza nella natura circondata dalla nuova nascita della primavera. La linfa delle piante che sgorga vibra, le radici che crescono e sostengono l'albero risuonano.

Otodama is a musical encounter between flutist Yukari and percussionist Luc Müller. The result is a meditative improvised music, where silence and all its noises are considered as a 3rd musician. Listening is the main architect and does not put a hierarchy between the surrounding sounds and the musical sounds. Otodama went to record their music in the forest, whose sounds are a source of inspiration regardless of the musical context in which the duo performs. The exploration of the inner musicality, free, without demonstrative will, makes the flutist slide at times towards the percussion and the percussionist towards the breath. Thus it happens that the roles are exchanged, the blowing becomes tapping and the tapping becomes blowing. Beyond the sounds of the forest, the sounds of the musicians, the sounds of silence, it is above all a question of listening and finding the path that leads to the origin of all these sounds, life and its creative energy, and of trying to sculpt a musical form from them. For this evening the duo will be accompanied by the photographs of Elisa Murcia-Artengo who, inspired by the Otodama project, went in search of its essence in nature surrounded by the new birth of spring. The sap of the plants that springs up vibrates, the roots that grow and support the tree resonate.
